Bama could miss the playoff possibly?

Its likely someone will stub their toe out of these other teams in the next 2 weeks but nothing is guaranteed.

1. If Bama loses to Auburn its almost assured the Georgia/Auburn winner would get the nod over them short of Georgia being upset by GT since Auburn would finish with wins over Bama, Miss State and 2 wins over Georgia while Georgia would have wins over Auburn, Miss State and Notre Dame plus being the conference champion.

2. The Miami/Clemson winner would go over them short of an upset because Miami would be undefeated with wins over Clemson and Notre dame and Clemson would have wins over Miami and Auburn plus the conference championship.

3. Oklahoma if they win the Big 12 would go over them barring an upset for wins over OSU on the road and 2 wins over TCU plus the conference championship.

4. Wisconsin if they beat OSU barring an upset @ Minnesota would be an undefeated conference champion and Bama's schedule doesn't have many good teams on it either with Miss State being the only decent win right now. I don't see how they would leave an undefeated conference champion out against a team with one loss that also is light in the big win department plus there would be the added pressure of a 2 loss Auburn being one of the teams in the playoff if they win the SEC. How would they justify not putting an undefeated Wisconsin in there when margin of victory isn't supposed to be a factor.

It would be possible.

They would only have one loss...and a road loss against a really good team, but it still could squeeze them out. Their FSU win is diminished, so they have pleasant wins at Moo, over LSU and TX AM.

However, Ohio State lost twice, both badly, one to Iowa. Even if they win out, it seems wrong to include them, using their own logic from last year when they crowed at the top of their lungs a two loss, one of those losses being big, Penn State was not deserving over them, even with some close wins over teams like Indiana.

Point is, Bama should be ahead of OSU regardless at this point. OKlahoma has to be. SO if OSU wins out, I would pick Alabama over them.

Yep I think Bama would get in over OSU in that scenario. The conference championship wouldn't overcome the extra loss OSU has.

So if UCF wins out they won’t get in? If not and a one loss team does I can promise you the Feds will once again step in and force the NCAA to come up with a 8, 12, or 16 team playoff format!!!

And if UCF does win out and doesn’t get in I hope the Feds do step in once again because it only shows how corrupt the NCAA really is!!!!

The feds don't care about that I think. UCF still gets a big 6 bowl if they go undefeated and that took care of the legal stuff before. No non-power 5 school should get in when there is only 4 teams unless they have a couple of legit big wins imo.

UCF would have to beat a ranked USF then an even more highly ranked Memphis team in order to finish undefeated. Even with a bunch of upsets it is unlikely they make it. Would need SC to beat Clemson, then Pitt to beat Miami, Michigan to beat OSU, Wazzu to beat Washington, GT to beat Georgia then Georgia to lose to Alabama...eliminating Auburn and Georgia. Penn State losing would also help. All that and it is possible you get an Alabama, Oklahoma, UCF and one more.

Its probably close to a done deal now that Bama would get left out with a loss and Wisconsin finishing undefeated with that Miss State loss.

Bama isn’t going to lose to Auburn.

I give Auburn about a 33% chance to win that game if they don't get too cute and try to keep it a physical matchup. Their defense can be pretty damn good when they are on that day.

I know you can find crazy stats a lot of places but Saban is 0-6 against Auburn in the seasons Auburn won at least 9 games that year.

They cared enough to force a playoff system didn’t they? The NCAA still screwed it up by having a 4 team playoff which isn’t a playoff system whatsoever. I can’t believe nobody has tried to challenge the NCAA using the Federal law in what it actually reads.

It didnt force a playoff system it just basically forced them to guarantee a non power 5 school a spot in a big bowl if the best one was real good when the BCSCG game was still going. That just carried over into this.

Please stop trying to ruin college football.

Thanks.

Starting to think OSU would go over Bama since they would have 3 better wins than Bama and the conference championship. That would override the extra loss I think.

Very possible. While not their fault, their schedule didn’t end up looking all that great - a bunch of wins against teams that ranged from mediocre to downright bad. If they were someone other than Bama, they wouldn’t merit consideration.

Who have these other teams really played?

I’ve said it for over a month.

This is a 2007 kind of year.

Ha, I’m not really even sure. I kinda lost interest in college football early this year. I imagine you can relate.

They probably need Clemson to beat UM, Notre Dame to lose tonight and then Oklahoma or Wisconsin to lose. That's pretty plausible.

SEC title winner is in. ACC title winner is in. Wisky and Oklahoma are in with wins. They could still slide in there.

Well OSU will have wins against an undefeated Wisconsin and 2 other teams rated higher then LSU while Auburn will be on a 3 game win streak against Bama and Georgia twice. The committee would get destroyed if they let Bama go over either of them I think. Bama's only chance is probably a TCU upset over Oklahoma but that might not even be a guarantee.

Whoops.!

Auburn must have found a leprechaun or a magic hat at Goodwill or something. It is odd.

sadgator feels absolutely terrible for bama, by the way.

E-Dub does not. Nick Saban and the Tide could be playing Satan and all the minions of Hell with the souls of all mankind on the line and I'd be wearing Red and waving a pitchfork for the whole game.

Sarcastic. sadgator is thinking about sending Saban a greeting card or a sympathy casserole.

I really want Bama to be left out. They have gotten too many free passes in prior years. At least 2 of their Saban titles they won by being put in over teams that were more deserving of the spot. Let them watch for a change.

I agree. That year they beat LSU in the rematch Oklahoma State should have got in over them for being a conference champion with the same record.

Right now Alabama isn't one of the 4 best teams. Injuries have caught up to them. Their offense isn't good. I think Clemson and Auburn are the two best right now because of their defenses.

I think they let OSU get that 4th spot. They will have 3 better wins than Bama and the conference championship. That should overcome the extra loss.

Ohio St. vs. Clemson; Oklahoma vs. Georgia. Alabama's resume is just not strong enough to get the nod over Ohio St. FSU (preseason #3) was supposed to be their big OOC game, but other than that win their biggest is LSU.
