Athlete of the Year

Center A'Ja Wilson's Rookie WNBA Season. She not only had the best season by a rookie in 2018, but she is in the discussion of having one of the best rookie seasons in league history to that point in time.

20.7 PPG - tied for 3rd in the WNBA and led all rookies by over 6 PPG.
8.0 RPG:-- 6th in the WNBA and led all rookies by over 3 rebounds per Gm.
1.67 BPG - 6th in the WNBA, more than a half BPG than any other rookie.
Only 2 players (centers) in the WNBA averaged at least 20 Pts, 8 Rbs and 1.5 Blks per game in 2018. That’s why Wilson winning Rookie of the Year was a foregone conclusion.

Well good for her, but now she's whining that she and other minority players will never win anything because Clark (Time's Athlete of the Year) is white, so she's claiming it has nothing to do with Clark's accomplishments....
🙄

Any of you remember when the fans chanted Cheryl to Reggie Miller(Cheryl's brother) early in his career? Poor Reggie, his sister's popularity overshadowed his success for part of his career.

The thread is what it is, and it's only intended for those that are interested in the subject.
So anyone not interested, or that's tired of the subject, are cordially invited to go elsewhere...

And BTW, I've got all of your fake concern swingin'...... 😂

I expect Nav to break out his cheerleader uniform! LOLOL

If self-induced limitations are your thing, then I'd feel concerned for the 2 of you.
IF that is,,, I was the kind that gets concerned over the self-induced limitations of others....

But since I'm not that guy, I can honestly say that I don't GaS about the self-induced limitations of others....
BTW, have either of you ever been up for an Athlete of the Year award?
How about being compared in levels of skill to Jordan or Bird??? (crickets)

==========
The popularity of women's basketball, and women's sports in general, skyrocketed in 2024, and it is without a doubt that Caitlin Clark can be thanked for that.

Not only was Clark the most popular female athlete over the last 12 months, Time named her their Athlete of the Year, a title held by worldwide stars like Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Simone Biles, Serena Williams and Tiger Woods in recent years.

Looks to me like you need to go back and review this threads title.

Time Magazine's Athlete of the Year.

Other's did also award her Female Athlete of the Year, so maybe you just got confused by all of the various awards she's earned in the last 12 months.....
==========

Logo 3's.
The best dimes in the WNBA, with a record 337 single season Assists
And she can dribble you right outta your shoes, an ankle breaker....

Fine wid me if you want to diss on who Time gives awards to:
Time named her their Athlete of the Year, a title held by worldwide stars like Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Simone Biles, Serena Williams and Tiger Woods in recent years.

However, Time is only one of the many in 2024 alone....
