Any word on Tebow?

Sunday Eagles Camp:

3. While we're on skill players, perhaps nobody on the Eagles' 90-man roster enjoyed a better afternoon than 2nd year TE Trey Burton, who was seemingly everywhere. Burton made a number of catches downfield, including a TD on a perfectly placed pass from Tim Tebow in1-on-1's. The 2nd-year TE later added a red-zone TD in team drills as well and also set the key block on JaCorey Shepherd to break a WR screen for a big gain.

Also, with Shepherd injured out later in practice, S/CB Jaylen Watkins took over the 1st-team reps in the nickel. Watkins appears to be progressing nicely this camp. The 2014 4th-round pick had an interesting duel with 1st-round rookie WR Nelson Agholor in 1-on-1s Sunday. On one rep, Agholor employed what it appeared to be a killer double move, but Watkins didn't bite at all and wound up breaking up the pass attempt downfield.

Thanks instagator .. that was the info I was lookin for. Looks like he has a chance at #3. Gotta think that the ability to run is huge with Kelly .. who knows

Seems like with Watkins Burton Tebow Cooper someone would have some inside word ... anyone heard anything?

They play today at 1 PM on 212 NFL Network on Direct TV.
Tebow and Barkley are slated to take most of the snaps.
Bradford won't play at all and the Sanchize only briefly.

Yes, he had some good moments and some not so good moments. he started out really well, he needs to get rid of the ball quicker. I'd like to see him get some time with the first team OL.

Looks like he's still behind Barkley, who looked pretty good. Tebow brings something with the running that the other guys don't, so it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Tebow played behind backup OL (some 3rd stringers even) who had trouble protecting him and with 5th and 6th string receivers granted it was against 2nd string Colts D. He played pretty well regardless. Would be interesting to see him with first teamers at some point. Either way he was better than Crab Boy. He was fumbling snaps, threw a pick, got tackled for a safety but refs gave him a break. Once the game was out of hand midway through 2nd qtr and Vikes took out their D starters then he was able to complete a couple passes and led Tampa to a TD. His QB rating was awful.

Tim had to fend off a defense living in his backfield. Big reason he was 6-12. I have't seen him throw in a well over a year...did it look to anyone else that he's dropped his arm angle a bit?

I don't think anyone would argue that what sets him apart athletically is his strength and running ability as a QB. Was fun to see him run for a score and ignite the fans. Hope he makes the squad.

Tim did very well with the 2nd teamers that Barkley got to play with (4-5).
I agree that they both played way better than the butt-fumble did.
I'd keep both Barkley and Tebow while dumping the Sanchize.

When they put in the 3-4 teamers, along with the waterboy and the cheerleaders, then Tim spent his time looking for any open receiver and running for his life, or handing off to the RB's that usually got tackled for a loss. Then they'd get buried deeper with yet another OL penalty so that a manageable 3rd and 4 becomes a 3rd and 9.
I'd not only like to see Tim with the 1st team, I'd also like to see Bad-ford with those 3rd and 4th team practice squad players for a couple of series. (not gonna happen) o_O

Shameous Jameous gets brought in as a designated starter from day 1. He gets all the prime practice snaps and the coaches main attention. He gets the 1st team reps in the preseason. He, like many other 1st round picks (except for Tebow) gets the silver spoon treatment.

I wish that just once, that Tim could start an off season as the #1 QB and be given the above advantages, so that we could all finally see where that would take him and a team. We have already seen him take an otherwise 4-14 team (2-years) to a 9-7 W/L record, with a playoff win in just his 15th NFL start....

Eagles Coach Chip Kelly said - he thought Tebow showed improvement as a passer.

“I liked how Timmy threw it,” Kelly said. “That’s the big concern with everybody coming in is, ‘Has he really changed?’ I think he’s sequencing better. He got his feet underneath him. When guys ran the right routes and he had an opportunity to throw the football, I thought he threw the ball really well.”

Tebow was sacked three times and appeared guilty on occasion of holding the football for too long in the pocket. Kelly said that wasn’t all Tebow’s fault. (unlike the majority of the typical media-morons)

“There’s a couple of those where Timmy held the ball and it looks like, ‘Why is he doing that?’ ” Kelly said. “Well, the receiver ran the wrong route. He’s looking for a receiver to run a shallow cross and he didn’t get a shallow cross.”

Now that's what I've been talking about.... (iG)
The typical media-morons and/or the idiot-commentators, along with the average Tebow hater, are either clueless or they're knowledgeable liars.

If I'm the owner, I push to keep him for the ticket sales. Face it, if your third string QB is playing, you probably aren't going anywhere anyway. May as well sell a few tickets.

I certainly think Tim looked like someone who deserves to stick around for a while.

He did look better, considering he hasn't played in a significant game in 2 seasons, but (not a personal attack) 50% is better than 46%. He looks like he isn't as bulky as he was before. Throwing motion has improved. Sanchez looked like he struggled until Agholor bailed him out with that great catch and run. Barkley looked in control and comfortable. He looked to his 3rd and 4th options many times.

Still don't know what Bradford looks like, or if he can even stay healthy for more than 6 games. Most teams keep 2 qbs on the active roster. Barkley looks to be the one to beat for Tebow to make the team. It should be an interesting qb competition, to say the least.

He's certainly an attraction...you heard the crowd go off when he ran one in. That said, he'll make the team solely based on his play. Not enough roster space for a sideshow on an NFL team. Seems like Kelly is up on him at this point.

I think Tebow is going to make the team. He brings something different to the table that the other 3 guys don't and the skillset is something that Kelly will use. I believe the battle is actually between Sanchez and Barkley for who will get cut.

I'm amazed how guys like Sanchez and Bradford can stick around a roster for years despite being horrible. It ain't all about football, you're naive if you think so.

Bradford will get hurt. He always does. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Sanchez got cut. His saving grace may be that he has more experience than Barkley & Tebow & Chip Kelly may want an experienced backup QB when Bradford does miss some time.

I think that 3rd string QB is the ONE exception to that. Seriously, how often does the 3rd string QB play? Every other 2nd/3rd teamer earns their paycheck on special teams somewhere.

Sanchez has been better than Tebow in their career.

Tim is a 'starting caliber' NFL QB. He took a team that was 4-14 over 2 seasons with a 7-8 year NFL veteran QB to a 9-7 2 season record with a Playoff win over the NFL's #1 defense in just his 15th NFL start. John El' Dim-way whined about Tim's completion %, without ever mentioning that HE had traded away Denver's Top 2 Vet. WR's, which included their only Pro Bowler on the offense, B.Lloyd.

Tebow's season with the Jets, the 'Sanchize' was 12 TD's to 18 Int's + a butt-fumble.

Tebow was 6 of 8 (75%), with 1 drop and 1 throw-away when nobody got open.
He was 100% on 4th down tries, 1 passing to the TE and 1 running it himself for a 1st down. Tim's Jet's lack of success is directly the fault of Stupidimus-Rex.

Tebow would have been kept by the Pats if they could have traded away Ryan Mallet. He had a 'guaranteed' contract that still paid him if they cut him. They only keep 2 QB's, so when they couldn't find a trade for Mallet, they finally cut Tim in the final preseason cut to the 53 man roster.

Put Tebow with the Eagles 1st Team and see how he performs.
Put the Sanchize and Bad-ford with those 3-4 team players and see how they perform.
Then we could judge the difference in their NFL QB talent levels.

PS
Tebow way out-performed 'silver spoon in his mouth' Shameous Jameous. o_O

Sanchez has been better than Tebow in their career.

Based on what, completion % alone? Tebow outperforms him everywhere else. TD's per pass attempt, TD's per rush attempt, yards per completion, interception %, etc. And that holds true for many QB's save completion %. It doesn't look pretty, but who cares.

Based on the one that said it is a nole.

People can't seem to separate how ugly Tebow plays the position from his effectiveness. He throws a TD every 19 attempts. Meanwhile 'superior' QB's like Bradford throw one every 30+ attempts. The only real knock on him is his poor completion %, but there's plenty of legit reasons for that if you care to discuss it other than he's just inaccurate. IIRC, the year he started he was top 10 in the league in attempts beyond 20+ yards, which naturally are more low percentage attempts.

I get your point completely...but I think Tim's a different story. The first sign of QB problems, whether it's Bradford getting injured or the Eagles struggling, who's name do you think the crowd is going to start chanting? Sanchez? Barkley? Not a prayer. I'm not saying Kelly would play Tim to appease the fans/media...but I think Kelly keeps Tebow only if he thinks he can use him. Suiting him up just to carry a clip board causes issues.

I think that the "Tebow Mania" has died down enough for it not to be a distraction if Kelly puts in the 2nd teamer ahead of the 3rd teamer (God forbid).

Did you hear the roar after Tim took scored? I'm not saying you're wrong about the mania dying down generally, but when he's on your team I think it's different. I'm hoping Tim makes it and gets some playing time.

I did, and he got a standing ovation when he came in the game. But it is still no where near what it was. Again, I think the organization could manage it.

I believe they will too...but I think they'll get him on the field. He may legit come out of camp at 2.

Badford stays until he goes down injured again, or sucks and throws enough Ints to get benched.

The Sanchize is washed up, and he was never all that good to begin with unless he is totally unmolested in the pocket. Pressure him and he's a very accurate turnover machine.

Barkley could at least eventually develop into a serviceable backup QB.

Tebow has a winning record as an NFL starter, with a playoff win, for a chitty 4-14 team, that was lead to a Playoff win by Tebow. 19 TD's to 9 Ints for a 2.1 to 1 ratio.
While running for 1,000+ yards, 5.0 ypc, and 13 more TD's.

Drop, or trade the Sanchize, IF anyone wants him, (doubtful).
Put Tebow at #2 on the game day active roster behind over-paid loser Badford.
This makes Tebow available for package read-option, wildcat, and/or short yardage plays.
Move Barkley to the inactive #3 QB, until and unless Badford goes down.
=============

And again, the only way to really compare the QB's in the preseason games is to give them all a shot with the 1st team, and with the 3-4 team. Letting Badford and the Sanchize work with the 1st team while Tebow is stuck with the 3-4 and practice squad players is BS, because it's not going to show if he can run Kelly's real game day offense or not.

PS
I don't own any Tebow gear. I don't go to church. I've been watching football for 50+ years, beginning at the college level with Spurrier in the 1960's. I'm getting sick of moe-rons claiming that when Tebow wins, it's the team, but when he loses, it's all because he's not a 'real' QB.

Tebow also led the league in fumbles during his time at quarterback, to go along with 46% completion rate. You left that out of your amazing insight.

Right now he is 4th string and is fighting just to make the team. He was graded out with a C grade. You left that out as well.

"On Friday, the Eagles announced its first unofficial depth chart and Tebow was indeed listed at quarterback -- behind Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley.".

In the future, you might not want to get too emotionally attached to events you cannot control. Just my PSA for you.

Tim Tebow may be one step closer to earning a place on thePhiladelphia Eagles' regular-season roster after continuing to impress head coach Chip Kelly in the preseason.

ESPN anchor Dianna Marie Russini reported Thursday that Kelly has become increasingly happy with Tebow's work in practice and in the Eagles' 36-10 victory in their first preseason game. Barring a catastrophic drop from Tebow, he'll likely make the final cut.

An emotional response of he moment, doesn't affect the rest of my 'real' life, so save your PSA for someone who wants or needs it. That's just my unemotional response to your 'crocodile tears' for my well being... ;) (no offense intended)

In their first 16 NFL games

Tebow threw 19 TDs in 374 attempts with 47.3% 9 ints averaging a TD every 19.6 attempts 15.3 yards per completion scoring every 9.3 completions

Bradford threw 18 TDs in 590 attempts with 60% 15 ints averaging a TD every 32.77 attempts 9.92 yards per completion scoring every 19.66 completions.

Tebow's running game scored 15 times in 175 carries with a 5.0 ypc.
DeMarco Murray led the NFL with 13 scores in 392 carries in 2014.

Tebow outscored Bradford and Murray combined with 433 fewer plays.

(doing so for a loser team that was otherwise 4-14)

Tebow outscored Bradford passing with 216 fewer pass attempts

Tebow outscored Bradford 32 to 19 with 41 fewer plays

Tebow outscored Murray with 217 fewer carries

Tebow's game is ugly all right, but it's ugly for the other team.
HIs scoring efficiency is one of the best in the NFL.

I fully expect Tebow to make the Eagles 53 man roster, and have from the get-go.

Well, I thought that was a fully appropriate response to unneeded 'personal' advice.
What 'specifically' did you see that was wrong with what I posted?

I find that some people will attach their own 'emotional responses' to things that were only factual statements, but I generally don't try to give them 'professional advice' on their emotional states of mind. :)

Tebow vs Ravens- 2/5- 13 yards (missed 2 open receivers for touchdowns, one so HE could run it in himself, but went out of bounds).

Threw another one 15 yards over receiver's head in the endzone. He had open WR on almost every pass attempt. Held the ball for 7 seconds, took a huge 3rd down sack and was bailed out by a defensive penalty (hands to the face).

When a qb has a receiver WIDE OPEN in the end zone, but chooses to attempt to run it in, doesn't that speak volumes as to his own lack of confidence as a thrower?

Does his skill-set fit will Chip Kelly's offense? Sure. He will make a serviceable backup qb on this team. He could come in and get a few 2 point conversions and a few redzone scores from the 3 yard line.

Insta, quoting cherry-picked stats from Tebow's first 14 games from 3 years ago (8-6 record) might help you fit your narrative, but Tebow has been through camps with Denver (traded), Jets (cut), and Patriots (cut).

"Tebow playing Tebow way ain't gonna win Super Bowl as starter. Tebow as conventional NFL QB, not worth much. Role as backup in right system."- Thomas Goldcamp, Florida Gators beat writer, 247 sports.

Nothing wrong with being a clipboard holding qb, who plays in mop-up duty. Jimmy Clausen is making good money doing the same thing.

Tebow's first 16 NFL starts resulted in a 9-7 record with a playoff win for an otherwise 4-14 team, 19 TD's to 9 Ints, plus 1,047 yds and 13 TD's rushing.

~ The 100 Million Dollar Man that replaced Tebow at Denver didn't win a playoff game for them until his 33rd start, and the OC has been fired cause they've yet to win a SB that the replacement QB was brought in to supposedly win for them.
~ The Stupidimus Rex that cut Tebow got fired for incompetence.
~ The QB that the Pats kept (on a guaranteed contract) got cut a year later.

I-wish-scam26, I'm still waiting on your full and detailed report on:
QB Brady 'Da-Mighty' Quinn
QB Jimmy ' Da-Pickle' Clausen
(In their college days you claimed that both were better than Tebow, and that both would exceed him easily in the NFL)

And for a picture of the Heisman that ole MLB T-hole was gonna win.
Include a picture of him with his invisible girlfriend please...

And UA 42 - 14 Neutered Lame,,,, the tide is still rollin' in....
(the last time that the media-morons voted/gave NL a mNC was way back in 1988)
Neutered Lame is, year in and year out, the most over-rated HAS-BEEN program in college football, and continues with it's Decades Long Violence Against Women.

Since I've seen your nonsense and bs answers before, I'll now include you on my ignore list here too, so bub-bye twit.....

PHILADELPHIA — In what has to be the most talked about and speculated about battle for a No. 3 quarterback spot in ... well ... maybe ever, some Eagles and NFL "experts'' were asked their opinion.

Here's what they had to say when asked if Tim Tebow would beat out Matt Barkley for one of the Eagles 3 QB spots.

Merrill Reese, WIP play-by-play man: "Yes, because of his versatility.''

Mike Quick, WIP color analyst and former star WR: "Yes, he's the X factor.''

Sal Paolantonio, ESPN NFL reporter: "Yes, Chip (Kelly) likes him.''

Ray Didinger, Hall of Fame writer: "Yes, for the same reason why they brought him here, he expands the playbook.''

Derek Gunn, Comcast: "Yes, he brings a different look to the offense, especially in the red zone.''

Ike Reese, WIP talk-show host and former Eagle: "Yes, Chip wants him here.''

2/2- 15 yards
3 rushes for 5 yards
2 failed 2 pt conversions
One botched snap in the back field.

Rumor has it that the Titans are desperately trying to trade Mariota and 7 1st round picks for Tebow, based off his record setting preseason tirade he has been on. They are petitioning the NFL to allow practice squad players to play defense when Tebow is under center, though.

Compared to the "overrated" Sam Bradford's 10/10 121 yards and 3 td's and Sanchez's 13/19 150 yards 2 td's, Tebow CLEARLY is the best qb on this roster.

If any player has ever proven they are a failed 1st round pick and a worthy 3rd string benchwarmer, it has been the 4th string qb on the Eagles roster this preseason.

Congrats Insta.
