Getting crazy around here. Best baseball program in the country. Football on the way back. Basketball recruiting is at Duke level. What a time to be alive.
Some classy and some bitter folks there. Truth is the NBA doesn’t care where you play and he’s not less likely 1 and done anywhere. The reason Kentucky has so many 1 and dones is because they recruit and land top players at a high rate. Not because they have Kentucky written on the front of their jersey.
They view our basketball program like we do their football, although we have been really good this century. They will never give us respect, I have had bad experiences with their basketball fans.
Never had an issue with their football fans though. Kentucky football is great and I wish them all the best outside of blocking our path to Atlanta. Kentucky basketball can get hit by a meteorite, Calipari needs to quit using all that car oil in his hair.
Congrats on the pick-up.... we wanted him. SEC is gonna be tough with UT, AU, Bama, and UF all stepping up .... which is great for everyone.

Yeah, but that's a ridiculous comparison. I understand you're talking about Kentucky fans, so they're going to be a little slow on the uptake. Gators have a top-5 basketball program nationally since Billy D stepped on campus. Back to back titles, multiple final 4s, multiple SECT and regular season titles, bunch of guys in the NBA.
I don't think UK football has finished in the top 25 during that stretch.
Yeah I’ve had bad experiences with their fans. But it’s not a good comparison. We’re an elite top 10 basketball program and have been for awhile. They’re getting better at football but they have a very long way to go.
I would not say our basketball teams achievements are comparable to their football, I am relating how the fans I have come across see our program. That should tell you how highly they view their basketball program in comparison to our own. Not all, just a lot of the ones that still think any coach here would leave if they came calling, it was quite a shock to them when Donovan didn't take their offer in '07 or '08 (can't remember the year).
I just remember we were in the midst of our second titles and all Wildcat fans could talk about was their soon to be opening. I asked them why Donavon would leave a program he built into one of the elites and they just said "basketball royalty" or something to that effect. I mean it didn't even enter their minds that they might have to look elsewhere. I know that's not all of Kentucky, but I met enough of these fine folks when I was up in that region of the country to leave a mark .
