I can't pull for Bruce "The Sweating Cheater, 5-Year Ban" Pearl, but I was glad they beat Kentucky (with another convicted cheater coach, who ruined UMass & Memphis). I'll be rooting for a Texas Tech/Virginia final, although I think the winner of Duke/Michigan St. is going to be the champion.
I can't root for Tennessee against anybody in any sport with maybe the exception being FSU in football...and their has to be back stories to it such as the 1998 title game
Whoever wins...the games (including both today) have been absolutely spectacular in this tournament...sadgator has really enjoyed watching them...
Every game seems like it has come down to the last few seconds...very exciting tournament...

aubarn knew what he was when they hired him. Hell he was under a Show Cause and banned from recruiting for like the first 6 months he was coach in Opelika.
They hired him to win big, rules be damned. They got what they wanted, and in a couple years the NCAA (with a likely assist from the FBI) will take it back.

All the talk about not liking Pearl because:he is a cheater seems dishonest considering many Florida fans wanted Chip Kelly as their football coach.
The real reason a lot of Florida fans don't like Pearl might have more to do with him being something like 8-4 against them at Tennessee.

It is also laughable that a bammer like ghost showed up in this thread. The phucking mafia is literally jealous of all the crooks and cheaters Saban has hired at bammer. This includes hiring an offensive line coach who was given a show cause for cheating at Rutgers. It also includes Saban hiring at least two assistant coaches involved in the Nevin Shapiro shit at Miami.

The fact is that we didn't hire Chip Kelly, so that's a mute point. Pearl's issues go way beyond recruits at a barbecue. He lied to the NCAA, he lied to Tennessee officials, encouraged others at the cookout to lie and then got the recruit's father to lie to the NCAA. But he was only fired after UT found out about more NCAA violations, including a player's substance abuse that he tried to cover up. And now at Auburn, an assistant and former Auburn great Chuck Person, has been arrested by the FBI and is probably going to jail for corruption & bribery. Pearl refused to cooperate with the investigation, despite being ordered to do so by Auburn big shots. Yet they've kept him on solely because he's winning. That puts Auburn in the same sleazebag category as their coach.
Dan Mullen's record isn't exactly spotless when it comes to morality. He tried to recruit Cam Newton to Mississippi State after whatever problems Cam had at Florida.
Mississippi State then went on probation two of three years after the Cam situation. The NCAA and the school both made the receivers coach the fall guy for their probation, but Dan Mullen was still the head coach when Mississippi State was put on probation.
You also have the Jeffrey Simmons situation. A video showed him beating the holy shit out of some girl, yet his only punishment from Mullen was a one game suspension against some podunk team. A laughable punishment given the seriousness of his crime.

You also dont know shit about the Chuck Person situation at Auburn. It makes zero sense that Pearl knew or was involved. Peerson took 90 thousand dollars from an alleged financial adviser, kept 75 thousand strictly for himself, and gave the little left to two players already enrolled in school.

College sports is dirty. Every team and every program cheats to some degree. Some just do it better than others.

College sports has its problems, but some programs and administrations run cleaner programs than others. There's been a lot of criticism of Jeremy Foley for a couple of his hirings and waiting too long to invest in facility upgrades. But he did keep UF's athletic department as above-board as possible, while achieving amazing success across all sports programs. From the time he was made AD in 1992, Florida was not put on probation in any sport for any reason. He would never have hired, nor would I want my university to ever hire, a sleazebag like Bruce Pearl, no matter how much success he might bring. Call me a hypocrite if you want, but I honestly don't think the University of Florida has knowingly been involved in violating NCAA rules since the 80's. There were a few self-reported minor infractions over the years, but nothing like what went on under Charley Pell or Norm Sloan. Auburn, on the other hand had the sleazy scandal with the softball program a year or two ago, corruption across their athletic department for years and now the basketball corruption. Auburn is blatantly dirty, Florida is not.
