As a veteran that served during the Obama years I agree that the military spending was cut. We lost our bonuses and many families lost combat pay, service connected wives with children were filing for food stamps and being housed/fed by the Red Cross during the Obama years. The former C&C was anti-military to the core.

US spending on the military during peace time has traditionally been 4% of GDP note that's 4 cents on the dollar and hardly breaking the bank. It is also one of the actual legitimate constitutional functions of the national government. That would be $820B today during peace never mind that we are at "war" still in the ME/Asia . Uhm $633B is still below traditional norms.
