Midseason SEC basketball tiers: Title contenders, pretenders, dark horses, bubble-bound and basement-dweller. Separating the contenders from the pretenders in the SEC, college basketball's best overall conference.

This iteration of SEC basketball is all-time stuff. Just one league has a higher power rating than this year's SEC in kenpom.com's database: The 1996-97 ACC which featured just nine teams. So it isn't hyperbole to say that this version of SEC basketball is the best hoops league that we've seen in the modern era.

Except for Walter Clayton, everybody else has been awful the first half. We are the leading rebounding team in the nation and simply getting whipped on the glass by Missouri. They are playing better defense, workign the ball better and just beating us at our own game. No easy games in the SEC, my friends.

Condon has looked like a JV player tonight. Turnovers and dude forgot how to play defense. Mizzou made some early ridiculous threes and that was all she wrote. Down 16 at the half, ouch.

We are the hunted now, so we can expect this every night. Hate dropping one at home, as now we need to find a road win somewhere. Mizzou has been solid this year, but they haven't been this good. Good news is hopefully this will drop us far in the rankings, and we can get some hunger back.

Our 2 losses resulted in being lazy in the 1st half. This needs to be addressed.
Mizzou made several very low percentage threes in first half. Once those stopped falling we were able to climb back into the game. The decision to foul with 29 seconds left was a bad decision on Golden's part. Once that guy knocked down both free throws the game was essentially over.

They've got to come out with intensity every game and I credit Missouri for taking it to us tonight. They equalled us on the boards, had the best of 50/50 balls and simply played the better game. Todd Golden got them fired up at halftime to ramp it up the 2nd half and they almost pulled it off. But too big a deficit to get it done. Congrats to Missouri - lesson learned for the Gators, hopefully.
