New Story “FutureCast” for DB in the Transfer Portal in favor of Florida

Even though I can’t officially put a FutureCast on transfer players. I like where Florida sits with UAB safety Adrian Maddox. He’s a big, versatile DB that could make an immediate impact for the Gators defense. Georgia was also recruiting Maddox and hosted him for an OV.

Lagway after the game: My performance left a bad taste in my mouth. Straight to work in the offseason.

So glad this guy is the leader of my team. Tebow got put in some really good spots his freshman year behind Leak. Danny got redshirted his freshman year. But looking at what DJ had to do in his true freshman season against the schedule we had was insane. And I would not be shocked if he stays here all 4 years.

Proposed NIL salary cap on the table

I saw that the NCAA is proposing a salary cap of $23.1 million per year with annual increases. This is based off providing the players 22% of the average power conference TV revenue.

If this is passed, which I assume it will, then every school will start hiring a GM and that position will be by far the most important. I say that because I don’t believe this will prevent private companies from providing NIL contracts to individuals. This only includes the NIL contracts specifically provided by the school. Therefore, whatever school’s GM can set up players with the best private NIL deals will end up with the best roster. I assume this would be handled by the GM simply because there is no way the HC would have enough time to take this on.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t see how the NCAA could prevent 3rd parties from paying players whatever they want.

UGA Football 2025 = UF Football 2010

UGA's football program is looking a lot like our program circa 2010. Two NCs in the recent rear view mirror, but everything that made them successful seems to be slipping. Our time to regain the upper hand in this rivalry is NOW. A quick casual rebuttal, but "they've recruited so well, they're not going anywhere". Consider the following:

  1. Their 2022 class (rising Srs.) is basically gone. 9 out of their top 12 players have transferred or have declared for NFL (still waiting on Delp which could make it 10). The bottom of that class has not fared much better as most of the "development" part of that class is GONE. No problem, right "they've stacked classes and younger guys will just back fill"...consider point #2
  2. Their 2023 class (rising Jrs.) has lost 9 out of the top 15 players - YIKES!!! Throw-in some mis-evaluations or overrated kids and it looks even worse.
Everybody waiting for us to "outrecruit" them has been asleep at the wheel. Consider these position groups:
  1. QB room - massive advantage UF
  2. RB room - huge advantage UF (even if Etienne returns)
  3. WR room - massive advantage UF
  4. OL room - UGA will be replacing 4/5 OL that had a ton of starts, we return 4/5 multiple year starters - advantage UF
  5. DL room - call this even. If we add a DT starter from portal, slight edge UF
  6. LB room - slight edge (barely) UGA - just giving them an historical benefit of the doubt, BUT our LB corps is crazy good.
  7. DB room - slight edge UGA
I'm not ready to write the obituary on UGA, but it is clear they are "net" losers on a relative basis in this new era of NIL/Portal.
