Which P5 conference team do you prefer an OOC series with?

Since 1992, the only ACC teams Florida has played, not named FSU have been Miami, NCState and Maryland.

Against Miami in the ACC, Florida is 1-2
Against NCState in the ACC, Florida is 1-0
Against Maryland in the ACC, Florida is 1-0

Just for fun, I went and looked how FSU has done against SEC teams not named Florida over thee same time period. The record is 3-3

Against Auburn 1-0
Against USCe 1-0
Against Alabama 1-0
Against Kentucky 0-1
Against Georgia 0-1
Against Tennessee 0-1

There are caveats to many things if one looks hard enough. I usually enjoy your posts and you are correct about FSU's record against those six teams. Auburn, USCe, and Bama were all healthy, although I would say both Alabama and FSU were in somewhat bleak years when they played. FSU with BB in his struggling years outlasted Bama in Saban's first year. I think USCe and Auburn were all pretty healthy and at/near the top of their program's all time success. FSU against USCe was Fisher's first season and, of course, FSU was playing Aubs for the National championship. I am pretty certain FSU was the 'dog against USCe.

Weinke was out against Tennessee. Rix was out against Georgia and I think we threw out Anquan and Fabian (with a bad shoulder). I think ~20 some odd players were out against Kentucky in that bowl game. Again, they are still losses, but wish FSU had the starter(s) that played most of the season in those games...especially in the game that really mattered against Tenn.

*disclaimer: I too did not look any of this up so it is strictly by memory....we know how that can fail from time to time :)

Whatever kelly. One could make the same kinds of observations in many of Florida's losses against FSU.

Lattimore got knocked out of the game in like 5 seconds. That was their squad that year, he was getting 40 carries a game lol.

That was an awesome play. Changed the hunter into the hunted pretty quick. Pound for pound Greg Reid was one of the best hitters I have seen in college football.

Matt Elam didn't think so... he punked his ass out

Lmao!! By far one of the funniest things I've seen in this rivalry. If I remember correctly, Elam hit one of our players late and Reid came off the sideline and confronted him. Elam went crazy and Reid got the hell out of dodge! Hilarious!!

The FACT remains, that both FSUcks and the scUM could have guaranteed games vs UF by simply joining the SEC when it was offered, but they did not.
That makes them both the Top 2 chicken-chits in the state of Florida. :p

I find it highly HYPOCRITICAL of them to want UF to play an SEC schedule and then play both of them OoC, when they won't even play an SEC schedule. o_O

Right now, they both have the advantage against UF, because UF plays a Top SoS with it's associated 'wear & tear' while they both coast through their seasons with 1-3 tough opponents per year. (All Cupcake Conf >>to the>> Almost Competitive Conf)

I would remove them both from our regular season schedules. This would make any post season games with them huge games, and they would only play each other when both had good teams, not like some of the ugly mis-matches that have occurred throughout the years.

Then I'd schedule any of the Top 3 teams from the other Power 5 conferences.
Besides playing UGA, Tenn, Mizz, and SCa in the east every year, UF also plays LSU from the SECw every year. It's not like the Gators need to 'beef-up' their schedule with even more perennial Top 20 teams. :cool:

Really all we need to say is "those bowls/teams were below us" or "we didn't want to be there" etc.. it works for sec teams.

Every thread on this board turns into a F$U/UF pissing contest.

To answer the OP's question.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rotation of a few Big 10 teams. Play Michigan, Ohio State, and Nebraska on rotating basis.

reFSUcks and the scUM both refused to play an SEC schedule.
Seems fair to me if none of the SEC teams ever scheduled them again in the regular season. After all, it was their choice to duck out on playing an SEC schedule.

The same applies to ever playing Neutered Lame. Let them find their opponents outside of the Power 5, since in their arrogance and greed they refused to join any Power 5 conference. I see no need to help them by scheduling them. UF certainly doesn't need them!

Here are the average SOSs for the Big 3 since 2003. UF has the clear edge in SOS, but it's also possible for teams outside the SEC to have strong schedules as well. (site I used only goes back to 2003)

Why did you pick "since 2003', hmm, let me guess. 12 years seems odd, wouldn't you usually do "last decade", or"last 5 years"

Okay, using your own data and site:

Top 10 SoS's

UF - 5, 10, 9, 10

FSU - 2, 4

UM - 4
===========

Top 25 SoS's

UF - 5, 10, 17, 9, 15, 10, 14

FSU - 14, 2, 22, 4

UM - 15, 13, 4, 22
==============

Not in the Top 30 SoS's

UF - 36, 34, 51

FSU - 64, 76, 62, 52, 41, 35

UM - 39, 53, 37, 52, 34, 53, 74, 45
===============

Not even in the Top 60 SoS's

UF - ZERO

FSU - 64, 76, 62

UM - 74
=============

That makes things real clear for me... o_O

So, if FSU has averaged the #33 SOS since 2003, what term would you use to describe teams #34-#125? 92 other FBS teams play "softer" schedules than FSU.

How many of those 92 aren't in the so called "P5?"

How many of those 92 aren't in the so called "P5?"

Well, there's 65 P5 schools, so if every single one were ranked 1-33 (including FSU), then the remaining 32 would be in the bottom 92; basically a minimum of 35% of teams below FSU could potentially be p5 teams.

From home I was able to access more sites, so I went back to 1980 to see how our beloved Big 3 looked.

Average SOS 1980-1989 (I used excel, so the format is different)

So, from 1980-2009 (30 years) here's the average SOS for Florida's Big 3. UF is at the top, BUT it certainly aint by much. Surprisingly, though, UM's scheduling has been pretty atrocious (by comparison).

1980-89 Top 10 SoS's

UF = 7 of 10 (1-3-4-4-6-7-10)

FSU = 4 of 10 (2-2-3-6)

UM = 2 of 10 (1-5)

In case you failed to notice, UF's 7 is more than FSU & UM combined.

Charmin Soft. I maintain that FSU has benefited from a Charmin Soft Schedule. But they have also suffered from it.

Despite the [factual] evidence to the contrary, MJ sticks to his opinion.

Of those 3, UF had the only average that was in the Top 25
UF 21.5 ---
then average in the 80's (13.8) and it drops to 17.6.

FSUcks 33.2
--- Add in the 80's, 14.6 = 47.8/2 = 23.9 - barely Top 25

scUM 36.8 --- Add in the 80's, 19.4 = 56.2/2 = 28.1 - still not Top 25

And the Gators never played a SoS outside the Top 50.

While the criminoles won a BCS-NC playing the #60+ SoS with a Shameous QB.

HUH?

For the 30-year period between 1980 and 2009 both FSU and UF averaged a top 25 SOS. scUM was outside the Top 25 at 29.73.

Average SOS 1980-2009

Technically speaking, UF had the tougher schedule, but to state FSU's was "Charmin Soft" is a gross exaggeration. In that span FSU played the SEC 53 times going 26-25.

Yep, both the criminoles and the scUM thugs will play 1-3 tough opponents per year.
FSUcks is the only school to win a BCS-NC while playing a 60+ SoS.

UF's 2006 BCS-NC was against the #1 Ranked team with the Heisman QB.
UF 2008 BCS-NC was against the #1 Ranked team with the Heisman QB.
Both times while playing against Top 10 SoS's.

And the Gators never played a SoS outside of the Top 51.

Not even in the Top 60 SoS's

UF - ZERO o_O

FSU - 64, 76, 62 :eek:

UM - 74

And FSUcks has played 2 D2 teams in a single season...:oops:

Oh Dear. Two people can have differing opinions based on the available facts. You have your opinion, I have mine. But I have to ask, why is it so important to you that I have a high opinion of FSU's schedule? What is it in your psyche that requires my approval of your schedule? This is true of most FSU fans regarding Florida fans. You want our approval. You seemingly NEED our approval

Your schedule has been charmin soft, by the standards we use. If you don't like our standards, too bad.
