We’ve seen the transfer QB thing before and know it rarely works out the way you hope…
That being said, it does give sadgator some level of comfort knowing this dude has been in many big game environments and has a ton of experience…he probably won’t totally freak out in big moments…
Might be better than AR…certainly better than an inexperienced freshman….

Yeah, Mertz was a 5 star, Wisky's all time top rated recruit, had offers from everyone, was Army All-American game MVP throwing 5 TD's in the first half. He's like 22 years old with 3 years of starting QB experience in a B1G conference. He isn't some high potential freshman that transferred because he couldn't start at another school.

Actually, the more sadgator thinks about, the more confident sadgator is about taking a MF’er like that into a place like Utah for Game 1…

Well if we win it likely means Mertz had a decent game. He’s definitely going to be the starting QB. He’s way out in front.
I heard he looked good and even completed a screen pass in the flat to a RB! LOL. For some reason we didn’t throw in the flats to our RBs much last year and when we did AR was typically very inaccurate.
Speaking of QBs it's going to be close with Utah's QB but he is definitely starting camp limited in what they allow him to do.
