Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

You have to understand Insta is running out of excuses for Mike White.
Mike White is a class act. Way better than UGA deserves. But I am pleased with coach Golden. His statement after the first bama game was “Well you have to live with something.” Apparently last night we weren’t living with them shooting threes.

I’m beginning to think Golden really gets it and is one of those guys who sees things that average coaches don’t. I’d like to see us defend a little tougher, but offensively we push the ball and look for easy shots and then the right guys take the right shots and always with a big (or two) crashing the boards in systematic fashion. I think I heard in the Bama game that we’re rebounding 39 percent of our misses? That’s nuts.

Put me in the camp that liked Mike White, but I knew he would never get us to championship level. Golden is definitely an upgrade with the X and O part. Our scoring has gone way up in his 2 seasons over what White ever did at UF. He's done a really good job of getting the most out of this team. My only slight worry is his ability to high school recruit. But if we win and start making some tourney runs that could change.

Not true about Golden mostly sitting on a stool. He is way more animated this year, gets in the refs faces a lot.
Whatever you say....

What you missed in my post:
The other guy was coaching the Refs up along the sideline.
Todd was bitching and whining AFTER the call had already been made...

While the goaterdud3 (with support and encouragement from his little buddy) is still talking chit outta his butt.
I made no reference to MW, because he's history now, and a buttsniffer.
My comments, good or bad about Todd, have nothing to do with the former Gator coach.
Mike White, just like BillyD, won't be coming back to coach at Socialist-U.

I'm good with Todd as the coach, but like always, I'll still give my opinions on his coaching, the good and the bad. While the duds of the world will likely continue to spread stink outta their butts....
😛

Insta’s posts are the only place you’ll see Mike White and Billy D mentioned in the same sentence.
As Socialist-U's 2 previous B-Ball coaches, they should definitely never be mentioned together. 🙄

Another dud speaks his mind on THIS subject, and it's another waste of time stink....
And you guys should certainly continue to run your boring pie-holes about the previous coach(s)...

Nice win for the Lady Gators. Trying to play their way into the NIT. We have a couple of decent players and have some help coming in next year. Ocala, check me if I'm wrong, but I believe we've lost some close games this year?

Yep - Women's BB has lost some close games, often losing a lead in the 4th quarter. They went into the season undersized and then lost their best frontcourt player to an injury about midway through the year. They have a lot of talent, especially at the guard position, but get outrebounded just about every game and turn the ball over too much. But they play hard and are competitive. They have 3 high quality recruits coming in next year, 2 of them McDonald's All-Americans, one of them being Shaq O'Neill's daughter. Things are looking up for this program.

They should get an NIT bid.
They fought hard and had a chance with a couple of minutes left, but you are right, the rebounding killed them in the last 4 minutes. They have some talent, just need some size and a little more depth.

Vandy had 20 offensive rebounds to our 6; we had 17 turnovers to their 8. We shot 52% from the field, they shot 36% and we still lost. I listened to the 2nd half driving back from Orlando and Sean Kelley kept talking about Vandy was just outhustling us the whole game. Tough way to end the regular season. We need to win a couple of game in the SEC tournament to make sure we get a 5 or 6 seed.

It was even more brutal to watch. Road games are never easy but the effort on defense just wasn't there today. I will say many of Vandy's offensive rebounds were long ones because their shooting is terrible, Balls were clanging off the rim and bouncing 20 feet. Hard to block out on those. But UF just gave up the lane way too many times. That's lazy feet. Slept-walked the final 35 minutes of the game.

Last game of the regular season, so.....

The Refs were great.
The hard working Gator's just got beat by much bigger/better players.
And they got out coached.

These things happen and so you just have to go with the flow....
😉

Clayton's two turnovers were unfortunate and very untimely. But Vandy was all over the offensive glass. Some of them just good bounces, but mostly they wanted it more. One possession resulted in 3 offensive boards until they finally hit a 3. My guess is a little bama hangover, but also maybe not as hungry. The real hoops season starts now. So let's get some mojo back.

The push call at the end with us up 3 was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Don't call that foul and we most likely win the game.

Samuel has tallied 10 double-doubles this season, surpassed only by Al Horford, David Lee and Udonis Haslem during the 2000s. He has been named to the AP All-SEC second team.

Earlier in the season, Samuel became the first Division I college basketball player since Tim Duncan to post at least 22 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots in a top-10 road win at 10th-ranked Kentucky.

Samuel earned SEC Player of the Week honors and NIT Tip-Off All-Tournament Team honors after the Gators’ Thanksgiving tournament in November, which included a stat-stuffing performance in the win vs. Pittsburgh, with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots.

In his first season with the Gators, Samuel has averaged 13.8 points and leads UF with 7.5 rebounds per game and 36 steals this season.

A win is a win, but that was UGLY, especially from the free throw line. Missed 18 free throws and Samuel was 9-23. Won't a decent team shooting like that.

And those SEC game officials were everything that I've come to expect from them.....

College B-Ball has become nothing but a thug-fest.
Stiff arming on offense.
Pushing in the back under the rim.
Wraparound grabbing going both ways.
Flailing fingers in the eyes and tripping.

You know, maybe I should give the officials a bit of a break, considering how much the game has changed from when 'it was a hands-off the other guy sport with finesse and talent,' instead of a constant gang mugging.....
😣

Dominating win for the Gators. After a sluggish game vs. Georgia, they really played well tonight.
The officiating allowed UGA to mug UF in the paint. We survived, but was not easy. I've never seen so many layups missed but when you are being clubbed in the face, I guess it happens. The SEC officiating is a joke.

Today vs aTm, they need to have at least 2 Gator players foul out to have a chance to win the game.

And if the game is as big of a thug fest as I expect it to be, I'd have my walk-ons in the game with the purpose to foul hard until they foul out. That's the FULL use of you deep depth.

The Gators foul shooting may end up being the key to this game.
Disgusting, but it is what it is now daze.....

A&M needs to wipe the ish off the ball. The junk they've shot keeps going in. Let em keep jacking up 3s and make them take into the paint and clamp down on them. The law of averages will eventually catch up with A&M. Also, Gator guards need to put a body on their guards. The lack of rebounding is getting old.

Aberdeen saved our nuts today.
I've been saying to play Denzel more all season.
One, he's a good and hard working player.
Two, they will need him ready to go for next season.

And after today, where the heck is 6-10 250 PF Shimmy, (been asking since Dec) and why has he not been getting any playing time since mid Dec???? Other coaches have found out how hard it is to win when your starting center goes out injured.

PS -- Sure hope that Handlogten is okay, and that he heals in time for next season....

Glad to see Aberdeen getting more PT. Love his energy. Hate it for Handlogten. Looked really nasty. Need to find someone off the bench as we will need 15 minutes for the frontcourt.
