Offering clarity over the report, Salemi said what the “CDC’s update really means is that 94% of the people who died FROM (DC: emphasis mine - he said from not with) the coronavirus had at least one other health condition, in addition to COVID-19, that could have contributed to their passing,” ABC7 WWSB reported.
So he says 94% have died FROM covid. Which is clearly incorrect according to the CDC. 94% died WITH covid. Not from.
Assuming the testing was accurate, 100% of the dead died WITH covid while 90%+ died FROM it.
Good grief. No, 100% did NOT die WITH covid, again you are intentionally confusing the data, which is the same thing the media is doing. You just have a different motivation for doing so.
THIS is what the media should have done, and it's what the doctor and yourself should be doing too. THIS would have been the RESPONSIBLE thing to do:
State the numbers
AS THE CDC DID:
6% have died FROM covid, meaning covid was the ONLY cause of death. This is important, because most people hear the 210k figure and think it means 210k healthy people got covid and immediately died.
94% have died WITH covid (not from or from/with whatever the hell that's supposed to be). NOW this is where the media can do a service, by explaining that covid CONTRIBUTED to the death. This is where they can explain that the person died from multiple causes and because they already had a present health issue that compromised the immune system, that made covid a life-threatening virus to them, where it would NOT have been IF they were healthy. THIS is where you have the discussion about protecting yourself if you have those underlying issues and how you can be mindful of people that do.
But for some reason both you and the doctor want to change how we describe those who died WITH covid to being people that died FROM covid. Of course that's not accurate. I guess you both think those deaths are dismissed if you don't classify them as FROM.
You classify them accurately, as the CDC does, and you EXPLAIN the difference between from and with as cause of death.
The media doesn't do that for political reasons. But I believe when it comes to something as serious as this, you give people ACCURATE data, and don't superimpose your opinions or agendas over it.
