Will Butch Jones be fired before noon or after noon tomorrow???

Oh yeah. I forgot we won that game.
Only on the scoreboard.
They threw a pick at our 30
Turned it over on downs at our 29
Threw a pick at our 1
Missed a FG
Threw us a pick six
Missed a FG
Gave up a 63 yard Hail Mary.
In that order.

They should have beaten us by 30+/-

Is that John Gruden? No way will they succeed with him because the players will never understand his play calling!!! That is a fact… His play calling is like this "Ohio right west coast west flare trips 19 double wing option pass" and that’s only half of one play he calls on offense…UT will not hire this guy noway

I still don't see how dude would give up his cushion job in the broadcast booth. Making 4 million a year being the star of Monday night plus his other little gig of toying around with future NFL rookie QB's.

He has to do zero recruiting and breaks down film for fun...not to game plan.

Why give that up to go somewhere that requires 10 plus wins a year and wants a conference title every three years minimum? A place with a small recruiting base and somewhere you have to recruit nationally to succeed.

It was ugly but I'm not going to waller in the glory of the win... because we will probably be getting very few wins this season.

And before the Dawson pick at the one they ran 5 plays inside the 5 and didn’t let their RB, hands down their best player, touch the ball.

Gruden isn’t going there. But I would think thye might get a decent coach in there with us being such a dumpster fire and the rest of the SECe being weak outside UGa. Maybe get Norvell over from Memphis?

Doubtful, if he goes anywhere it will be Arkansas.

He is close to his wife's family now. They are between Memphis and Fayetteville area. They have young daughter and like the closeness to family amongst the rest. Arkansas Razorbacks would be the destination I'd bet. Word on the street around here anyway but money changes all that talk. If UT throws out a big package nobody ever knows.

TG-

Any word on realistic replacements for Butch?

The only coaches that I would be worried about UT that are possibility realistic are Scott Frost and Justin Fuente. To be honest I'm not all that impressed with the possible options that there are right now as far as up and coming coaches.

Tennessee is a mess, im not worried about a great coach going there..

and america isn't stupid, our job will be open again next year at latest.

You say that every time.

And yet, it’s pretty neat that other schools get good coaches.

To his credit he's actually been right.

Freeze, Sumlin, Rich Rod, Your guy at UNC, Briles...those guys were on most folks wish lists.. Malzhan was as well. It's still too hard to grade him but we can agree he isn't out of the world successful.

Briles and Freeze have both shown to be exceptional on the field. They were undone by scandals.
I still think Gus is an outstanding coach. But it takes more to run a big time program. He may be the best there is as a college OC/playcaller Fedora seems like another Malzahn but he’s playing with the least talent of anybody on your list. And the toughest place to recruit too.

Hang over.

Yankee's lost. Drunk my sorrows away. You can relate?

Honestly though I'm sober as hell with no hangover and completely didn't read his post worth a shit. Lol

I walked out on the Yankees game going into the 8th hoping that maybe whatever bad luck I was bringing would bring a comeback alive.

Sadly, I was wrong.

Damnit...

But the baby bombers have a bright future.

Malzahn isn't one of the best play callers, his system works more than the plays that are called play to play. If he was he'd keep from getting kicked in the face by Saban as many times as he has now.. But i know what you were saying

You say that but when he was an OC his play calling was first rate. He seemed to think it lagged at auburn as the HC so he handed off the duty. That to me is the sign of a good coach. The ability to set his ego aside. Either way his concepts on offense are as good as anybody in the business. It says a lot when you’re the guy that everybody is trying to copy, and coaches are copying Malzahn all over the country.

As far as his match ups with Saban, the talent gap between their respective rosters is gigantic. I know it’s a rivalry but he’s played them pretty tough. I’d like to see a game between them with equal talent. Alabama has been ranked #1 every year when auburn has played them under Malzahn. Not really fair to measure him against that.

Frost or Fuente. That is all I would be interested in at the moment that are somewhat realistic. I don't consider James Franklin and some other names thrown around as realistic right now.

As much as I like Frost, Fuente has the more impressive resume as of right now between the 2 of them.

....and nobody is copying Malzahn. Where is that coming from?

Malzahns run game and style of how to get guys in space may be copied and smart, but his passing game is the opposite and relies solely on the run game to work or it's just not happening.. Any game his teams run gets shut down, they go bad, REAL bad.. Malzahn cost Auburn a shot at the playoff and winning the SEC last weekend with that shit he pulled in Baton Rouge, his own guy tried to change the same predictable runs to passes in the 2nd half and then he booted him off the team.

Malzahn runs the ball BY FAR more than anyone in the conference, which means he passes far less than anyone in the SEC with it. They were seriously like 70% run to pass or even more last year, but his system can't beat upper talent without the pass game.. Saban would always be much worse without all the talent, all the games he's lost shows this.. and throughout his career, like the Spurrier beatings i always bring up on deaf ears..

His offense doesn't work against Saban because his teams are built to stop any run heavy team, whether he's doing it out of exotic formations and motions, it doesn't matter because he can't ever get the chains rolling to get that tempo going on Bama and the better D's.. His offense is just as much about tempo as it is anything tricky he does, get lined up fast, against tired guys, mis alignments, attack them before they can sub to do anything about either of those things.. Against Bama they spend much of the game going 3 and out too many times then being all out of sync impossible to find any rhythm and by then it's just too late. Luckily for him this year and last, he's finally got a really good defense to back that.. Auburn last night is how they could and should have beaten up on LSU playing a full game, and being aggressive. Their two punch RB's, with that defense behind it, is a top football team. One that should beat Georgia, and play toe to toe with Bama.

Malzahn and Chad Morris have had many coaches turn their style of no huddle, read offenses into their football Bibles.. I know personally many coaches in HS down south live by them..

I think Auburn may beat Georgia but Georgia seems to have their number most years so I could definitely see Auburn losing that game at home.

They have their numbers outside of the years they have another Cam at QB, they have beaten bad Auburn teams with worse QB's... History won't help them this year

just like it shouldn't help us this week

That’s the same knock that’s been put on Urban. By some Florida fans even. But the recipe for winning football has always been to run and stop the run.

I still think considering his budget/facilities that Mullen is doing a pretty good job. Others disagree but he still impress me. I have no idea how it would translate at a bigger name program though.

Malzahn’s problem seems to be that he’s a good offensive coach, but that whole pesky “running a program thing” isn’t necessarily his forte.

I love what Mullen is doing at State. The secret to his success is making the most out of local talent. Per capita Mississippi produces more prospects than any state in the nation. But there’s only about 3 million people in The state. There are demographic and cultural reasons that make it talent rich, but some of those same factors keep some top prospects fairly undiscovered.

Mullen takes those local kids and turns them into grown men. He uses redshirts and lists more kids as athletes on the roster than anybody. The result is that MSU is the all airport team. They are as impressive looking as any College team I’ve seen. Seems like he also manages to keep them on campus. I haven’t checked the numbers on that but he always seems to have a 4th year Jr he signed from Nowhere, Mississippi ready to step in every year.

All that being said, I have no idea how he would handle a job like Florida. But I wouldn’t complain if you told me he would be our coach next year.
