Why is #15 still out there?

If he were to transfer to another school, he would likely immediately begin to put up heisman-like stats.

I doubt he would passing. If he went to Ole Miss I think he might not even win the job and Kiffin would run the hell out of him. I wonder if he could stay on the field. If he went to a lesser SEC team he would get wrecked imo and have to be pulled for being ineffective. If the pros aren't willing to give an NFL pick up to do some crazy experiment with TE as a backup plan he might could do alright at a decent G5 team. I see no chance without improvement later this season that he does much on a team that is in the middle or lower part of their conference.

Giant step backwards? He wasn’t a very good passer last year either. I think it is safe to say he’s not exactly the mentally toughest player either.
He had a confidence and fearlessness that is not evident this year.

I will admit that the few passes he made he got a pass for as I figured he was just not getting a lot of reps, not that he could only throw the ball one distance at one speed.

Didn't stop Mullen from giving AR his first start against UGA last year.....

Also, Trask was technically "green" when he got his number called in a hostile environment and with a deep hole to climb out of.

If you don't want to play somebody "green" because you think the pressure might be too much for him...and would rather just accept the loss as the likely outcome than that's called '"playing scared". They gotta pull up their big boy pants and play, not be coddled like a mother hen.
The Trask thing was a necessity, AR was for spite.

Trask was necessary, but it changes nothing on him being green. How in the world was it spite for AR15? Mullen was the most slow to make change coach I've ever seen. Spite? Lol

Playing green players happens quite often. Even the goat(Tom brady) himself was green in the NFL when he was thrust in a position to take over for Drew Bledsoe mid-game and led the team to winning the Superbowl the same year.

EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IN HISTORY is "green" at some point. The only difference between them is when they play. This isn't pee-wee football where you can perhaps take your time and choose when you play. The players know it and accept it....even desire it to happen sooner rather than later.

If you want players to not play unless they are "eased" into a starter spot over à period of time.....have fun enjoying being a médiocre program where more often than not you have starters still being starters when they shouldn't be.

Mullen has a long history of going with experience over talent going back to Utah with the QB position though he may have not had the most say as the QB coach or whatever he was there. I will agree so far AR doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade over the very limited Jones. About the only games he did much if his 1st option wasn't there was last seasons LSU game and the Tenn game this year. The Utah game he got away with not having to read the field much.

To show the fans he really wasn’t ready although fans and media were calling for a change.

Ever pay attention to the Miss State fans when Mullen was the HC over there? It wasn't all lovey-dovey. They(fans) had huge calls for changes in the play-calling. They even had news articles written about it. Did Mullen make any changes? Nope....and that wasn't the only thing he was stubborn about. The fans knew that Miss State succeeded more due to Dak, rather than Mullen.

We, or rather some people, sometimes think they have more influence in coaching decisions than we really do. Mullen is a wall...ain't no way he did it to appease fans.

That’s my point exactly. He’s gonna throw a guy out there against UGA of all teams just to say I told you so. Who knows, that could have affected AR negatively more than anything.

Yeah, I seriously doubt he's gonna play that card against the #1 rival on the most anticipated game of the year just to "stick it to the fans". It makes zéro sense. Losing this game would affect the mentality of the boosters more than any other loss. It risks his job far more than fan grumbling

If he wanted to "stick it to the fans" he would have made AR start against a mid-tier opponent and yank him after the first half.

I too wanted to see him worked into the lineup last year. Not made a sacrificial lamb of.

Worked in a line up? Dude, he was taking snaps throughout the year before the uga game. He threw 19 times and rushed 7 times against LSU right before the UGA game. Then he had the bye week to mentally prépare for it as well.

My quick thoughts on AR, not that my two cents worth mean anything.
1 Great arm talent and and a freak athlete is obvious
2 Mentally struggling ( cant move on when bad things happen) (afraid to make a mistake) ( lacks a fiery competitive nature that is needed to perform at this level) ( getting hurt is in his mind and effects him using what God gave him) (wont pull the trigger when the play is there)

I don't know if these things are fixable but I'm pretty sure most of this is up to him. He is capable. Needs to play the game with passion and have no regrets when it's over. I'm still one hoping he can get there.

I dont put it past his frustrated butt to have done it to show the fans. I am still glad he did it even though it showed AR was limited. Problem with AR is he has only had one game (Tennessee) like the LSU game last year (minus the late picks) where he showed any ability to read the field at all. In the Utah game he was kind of lucky that most of his 1st options were there when he made plays.

If he showed a pattern that we could trace it back to previous coaching stints of him "sticking it to the fans"....than I would be open to it.

However, there's nada....zip. All that we have to support it is nothing more than fanfiction, which is the worst type of of supporting "evidence".

We will never know but the fans calling for AR so loudly and the frustration can definitely effect people.
