On the front end of the Transfer Portal every “loss” from our roster of a 2024 contributor elicits almost audjble gasps from some of our posters. Especially seeing fan favorite Jack Pyburn, a veteran of a whopping 8 starts in his three seasons, and promising but enigmatic TJ Searcy who likely lands at SEC rivals LSU and Auburn. Kelby Collins committed to Alabama after being buried on our depth chart in 2024. But should we really worry about our EDGE and DE positions?

Aside from Tyreak Sapp, the inspirational leader on the line, and George Gumbs, Jr., here are two more reasons why those transfers are not big blows:

Kamryn James, 6-6 and 268 pounds, 4.78 speed, a talented sophomore who came on as well as anyone else in our closing 3-game finish to 2024;

LJ McCray, 6-6 and 272 pounds, a sure tackler and cat-quick, along with DJ Lagway our other highest rated 2024 recruit.

Both Kam James and LJ McCray bring much more tk the 2025 equation than Pyburn and Searcy.

For good measure, while our staff screens and recruits another interior defensive lineman to fit alongside rising star Caleb Banks the Gators await the return of Jamari Lyons. We’ve got talent.
