I would think a good parent wants whats best for their child.....Broaden their horizons. If Smith's son chooses Stanford, I would not feel bad one bit about it, that's a good school.
Now if Smith had let his son go to FSU or Jortgia on the other hand....
That's just bad parenting. (abusive actually)

Well Said !
I was thinking about E J Smith & having a famous father.
We know that he is reluctant to attend UF & embrace the Gators because he does not want to get lost in his father's shadow.
We saw the same situation with Kelvin Taylor. As a junior, he broke Emmitt Smith's Florida career rushing yards record.[1] For his career, he had 12,121 yards and 191 touchdowns.
Lost in his dad's shadow, Kelvin left UF after his JR year. He was selected in the sixth round, 211th overall, in the 2016 NFL Draft by the 49ers.[8] On September 3, 2016, he was released by the 49ers as part of final roster cuts and was signed to the practice squad the next day.[9][10] He was released by the 49ers on November 28, 2016.[11]
Look at the title of another post on this board - Emmitt Smith's Son.
Why didn't he title it E J Smith #2 APB ?
Being know as Emmitt's son instead of being your own man - E J Smith - must have its frustrations.
Imagine running out on Steve Spurrier Field in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium & looking up at the North End Zone (Touchdown Terrace) & seeing your dad's name in the Ring of Honor & knowing that you are the only person in the world who can experience that incredible feeling !
Is he intimidated by it or does he embrace it?
Wuerffel has two sons but they are not into sports; the other three ROH members - Spurrier, Youngblood, & Marshal are past the age when that could happen.
At least E J knows, deep in his heart that his father loves him - unconditionally !
Emmitt going between the hedges & being photographed wearing Ugly gear proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt !
Kirby sure played it for all he was worth.
Hoping that this picture won't make anyone barf !
