7 of the top 15 teams are in the SEC
2 of the 3 $2 million teams are in the SEC East !

As SOS said -

"... Of course, we found out later that the scholarships they were giving out at Alabama were worth a whole lot more than ours."

It appears that is still the case - scholarships at UGA, Bama, & now Tenn worth a lot more than ones from UF !

"...An examination of figures reported to the NCAA by 52 public universities in Power Five conferences showed they collectively spent more than $50.3 million in football recruiting in the 2018 fiscal year, the first full year with the early signing period in place. That total was nearly $7 million more than in 2017 and nearly $15 million more than in 2016, according to data compiled by the USA TODAY Network in partnership with Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Looks like Gators are going to have to dig deep to stay competitive in the SEC recruiting wars !

Kind of surprising considering Georgia has been feasting in their home state and in FL mostly. I can see why us and FSU wouldn't be quite as high as Bama etc.

And those 'reported' figures do not include what the bag-men are handing out under the table.

Surprising that Georgia and Bama would include the "extra financial incentives" they provide to recruits in their budgets.

So far, I have not been able to find any information on how "coaches" like Greg Frey, Quality Control Analyst and Keiwan Ratliff, Assistant Director of Player Personnel, are budgeted.

Are both types of off-field "coaches" listed under our recruiting budget, or do they go under different line items.

The extra personnel, would certainly be a big part of the increase in the budget.

Because of the lack of blue chip in-state recruiting ( and the fact that Pruitt is prejudiced against them) Tennessee has to spend a lot more on recruiting travel than many others on this list. The states of Georgia, Florida and Texas are so loaded with talent, their coaches could stay in-state every year if they wanted to and not suffer any talent deficiency most of the time. Ole Dan can open his office window, fling a dead lizard and hit nearly a half dozen 4* or 5* recruits as the state of Florida is so well blessed. Georgia isn't far behind.

Saban doesn't have to recruit .They come begging to him. A tad odd he would be so high (Guess the depreciation on all those Mercedes -Benz's due to those $1.00 a year leases to the parents of those 5* recruits adds up)

Actually, under Kirby Smart's administration, the Dawgs have ventured outside the state far more than ever before. For example, this year, we expect to get a defensive lineman, a wide receiver and a quarterback from Florida, We are feeling good about a defensive lineman from South Carolina. We have a RB from California and will get another from Texas. We are getting a TE, a DB and an ILB from out west. We got an OT from Louisiana, etcetera.

Maybe some day he'll be as good a recruiter as 3* Dan and have half a class unavailable come the 1st game due to having dullards so goddamn dumb they couldn't compete on "Are you smarter than a 5th grader", have the best recruit walk out to play at Oregon because 3* Dan refused to let him live somewhere else than with a serial rapist, and then there are the other assorted criminals.

Now head over to Pinellas County with your dog and join your brother

Hmmm Chris Steele ended up at USC. He didn’t last at Oregon either. Kid was homesick. Get your facts straight but that has never stopped you from making a fool of yourself in the past. Get ready to lose to Florida AGAIN!!

Oregon rather than USC is the fact you are pointing out? Guess that means you accept the other statements as truth.

That's pretty rich that a Vol fan would talk about other teams and rapists at the same time considering that Butch Jones protected and aided 56 known and active rapists on his football rosters during his head coaching tenure at UT. He literally ordered 2 of his players to go break the jaw of a whistleblower on his team who was trying to report the rape of one of his friends by his fellow teammates, then he lied about it on national television even though the email chain proved that he had ordered the "hit". The Tennessee fanbase didn't care one bit about all the rapes that his team was committing ( and by and large continue to even today) and they backed Coach Jones up as long as he was winning football games.

It wasn't until Butch Jones was no longer winning football games for them that they turned on him and had him fired. UT fans are the last people on the planet who have the right to go after anyone else for having a suspected woman beater or rapist on their team because not one of you ever raised your voice against the greatest promoter of rape in the 21st century.

That just simply proves that the Beaver fully believes in diversity when it comes to where his bloated player salary budget is to be spent.
