Who do you think/want to win today?

Are ya'll watching Michigan get blown off the field by Georgia? 27-3 in the 2nd quarter. If Ohio State was so good how could they lose at home to a very average and overrated Oregon team and then lose to Michigan, who looks much worse than Cincy did earlier today. Saying Ohio State is the 4th best team is subjective conjecture with no basis in fact. Opinions are fine, but some of ya'll are acting like you know the truth and anyone who disagrees is stupid. C'mon man!!
I've been watching the FCS playoffs for as long as they've been televised and it's fun to have more teams. Ultimately, FBS will go to 8 teams, with all 5 P-5 champions in, then the highest ranking others. It's all about $$$ anyway and there's more money to be made in expanding the playoffs than going back to the old way.

This is a perfect example of Kirby screwing up. You get a big interception in good field position with a team on it’s heels. 1:28 left and timeouts. WTF?

They lost to Michigan because the weather made passing difficult

And Harbaugh has been too busy gathering oraise while Kirby prepped for this

Monken sucks but has completely taken Hutchinson out of the game

if you want I can give you a lesson on northern football. Ohio St would compete better because they actually have some SEC speed. Hit me up if you want a lesson some time.

Nick,

Agree with you, but unless something

Miraculous happens for Michigan, it's an all SEC final again.

Recent Alabama vs Georgia series history from UGA Wire https://ugawire.usatoday.com/lists/series-history-georgia-bulldogs-football-versus-alabama/

"...The University of Georgia has lost six consecutive football games to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Georgia last defeated Alabama in 2007.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 6-1 in his career with the Crimson Tide against Georgia. He is 3-0 in his coaching career against his former assistant coach Kirby Smart."

Realize past games are not always reliable predictors of team strength, but in this case I think it is a predictor of coaching acumen.

Maybe Smart will call another fake punt for the CFP Championship game ! LOL

I like it!

Two different things.

I THINK it’s going to be Bama and Georgia, I want Bama ( to shut up the Non-Power 5 schools ) and Michigan as I HATE Georgia. To many games in Jacksonville dealing with drunk toothless Dawg fans.
My dream was Cincy beating Bama and UGA beating Michigan (wait for it) just so I could see UGA lose to Cincy and have the torture of being so close yet so far away. Now I guess I have to root for Bama. ANY scenario is fine with me except seeing UGA win. To me, we've already seen this game. Bama should just be crowned the Champs.

Georgia has intercepted two passes in the last six minutes of game time & gotten nothing; Smart's play calling the usual B.S.

All facets of Dawgs Defense good to excellent (JYD rides again ?); Michigan not a great passing / offensive team.

Smart should pull Bennett & other important starters & just run the clock out.

Michigan not coming back from 24 points down.

It's about matchups. To beat dawgs you need a passing team. Ohio State can do that, michigan cant. So expand or go back to he bowls.

Tell the truth; did anyone care that Michigan had the ball on offense coming out of halftime ?

Did it make a difference ?

The game is over. All we are going to see, unless Smart puts in some second stringers who want to make a flash, is both teams running out the clock.

Excuses, excuses are for losers. Georgia destroyed Michigan worse than Bama destroyed Cincy. Michigan beat Ohio State soundly and the weather had nothing to do with it. The better team won and the Buckeyes in no way deserved a spot in the playoffs. Rationalize all you want but if Ohio State was so deserving how could they lose to a very average Oregon team at home? Who did they really beat other than Michigan State? And the expansion that countrygator asked for WILL happen. Going backwards to the bowls deciding everything is history. Get used to it.

I mean these probably were the 4 best teams. There just isn’t anybody close to as good as Bama and UGA. Neither playoff game was very close and it seems that is the way most of these playoff games continue to turn out. Coaching is very important but right now if you aren’t recruiting at a very high level your not winning any National title either.

I am a little scared by Georgia already losing to Bama playing that less aggressive defensive style that they might have a chance to win the rematch since they would have to be idiots to try that mess again.

So TAMU is better than Alabama? And that lowly Michigan St team Ohio St beat, how did Michigan do against them? And yes, the weathr was a huge factor in the UM-OSU game

Your inability yo analyze anything beyond a score you saw in ESPN is very…..4th grade like.

And go ahead, expand the playoff to et the same result. We just watched a four tram playoff to tell us what we knew all season

And its hilarious how you throw countrygator post at me but then criticize my post which played of his very premise that Ohio St was the team that could have given them a game

🤡

Alabama's ONLY loss was to the Aggies. Plus they won the SEC AND beat #1 Georgia in the process. The Buckeyes lost to lowly Oregon AND Michigan and didn't even make their conference title game. Plus Michigan's ONLY loss was to the Spartans AND they beat the Buckeyes soundly AND won the Big 10 title. Big difference, my man. The problem is that if Ohio State had been the 4th team in they would have played Alabama, not Georgia. And remember how Bama destroyed the Buckeyes last year? Why would this year have been any different, as Ohio State this year was not as good as Ohio State last year or they wouldn't have lost to Oregon and would have won the Big 10. Georgia & Alabama are clearly the top 2 teams in FBS this year. Michigan was clearly better than Ohio State (they proved it on the field in a game that decided the Big 10 East in which both teams played in the same weather) and got hammered by Georgia. Maybe Ohio State would have given Georgia a better game, but the only way that would have happened is if they'd beaten Michigan. Which they didn't. Speculating about what ifs and who should have is a waste of time and nothing more than subjective rationalizations. And no matter what you think about an expanded playoff system, it IS going to happen. There's just too much money available for it not to happen.

I don't disagree with this, but remember that Bama beat us by 2 thanks in large part to a missed extra point, they needed some major help from the refs to beat auburn in overtime, LSU and Arky both played bama to within 1 score, and AM beat them. So while I understand what you say about Ohio St, bama could have easily lost 2-3 games as well. OSU would've been a better matchup for Georgia.

You are correct, using simply W-L these are the 4 teams they had to take, though I oppose any G5 making it.

the point country is making is these were not the teams with the best chance to win. Hence why 13/16 semis have been blowouts. Its a flawed system.

And they can expand the playoff for money but all it will do is create the same championship matchup with more bad games leading up to it

I think you would create better matchups in the playoffs. Games played on a neutral field, get the teams that are playing well at the end of the season. Go to 12 teams, give top 4 a bye, and 5 v 12, 6 v 11..etc all would be better games. College football is dying in front of our eyes. Attendance and ratings both declining. Yesterday's games, which have been most of what the CFP has been, don't help.

i just don’t see why expanding a playoff and making the regular season irrelevant (see CBB) to get the same result helps.

I understand your point that an OSU or Utah might beat a Cincy and give us a better semi matchup, but as a rule, most of the games would still stink

But I would LOVE if 3 or even 4 SEC teams got in the final 4 and watch the rest of the nation’s head spin with anger

Cincy had to have a few things break in their favor to get in even going undefeated. Oklahoma State would have moved up to #4, more than likely, if they had beaten Baylor in the Big 12 title game and been 12-1. And remember how close they came? They had 4th and goal from the 1 or 2 to win the game and their guy got tackled a foot short of the end zone. Also, the fact that they beat Notre Dame early and then Notre Dame ended up 12-1 against a fairly mediocre schedule and was ranked just behind Cincy. They couldn't very well put the Irish ahead of an undefeated team that beat them. It was a very fluky year that allowed a non-P5 team to get in, but watching the 2 games yesterday they seemed as deserving as Michigan, IMO.

Georgia needs to be glad they didnt have to face Ohio State. I dont give a sh!t about them losing to Oregon and Michigan. They are a matchup nightmare against Georgia and Ryan Day would give Kirby fits and get him all out of wack. The way they played tonight without the 5 major starters was unbelievable. Put them on the field and they might have even given Bama all they wanted cause Cincy sure as heck didnt.

In regards to Alabama and their struggles, you are exactly right. Bama could have lost several games this year, but they pulled them out and then played their best game of the year to whip Georgia and then coasted easily over Cincy. Saban is the best ever and this year may have been his best coaching job, IMO, to take the team from where they were on the brink of not being in contention by losing a 2nd game to where they are now.
Ohio State would have probably been a better match up for Georgia than Michigan because of their prolific offense. They just didn't earn the opportunity, IMO, and the BCS committee obviously agreed. But had they gotten in as #4, they would have played Alabama anyway. After watching the Buckeyes against Utah, I feel pretty confident Bama or Georgia would have beaten the Buckeyes convincingly because their defense is weak. That's why they lost to Oregon early on and to Michigan when all the chips were on the table. They couldn't get stops when they needed them. Might have been more points put on the board than what Michigan did, but Bama & Georgia's defense is way better than Utah's. Of course, all of us are just speculating what if and why nots, but I guess that's the fun of these threads.

To be fair, judging OSU tonight was useless. They had ao many out. 2 LB sat and a third got a targetting.

This was Stroud and their practice squad. Top two WR opted out
that wasn’t OSU

True, but their offense was still very impressive.

Agree. They open hosting Notre Dame 9/3

OSU is known for scheduling big opponents, as opposed to Michigan who avoids them at all costs.

i think Freeman will do OK at ND, and it should be a good game, but unlike when they pkayed Oregon this year, Stroud enters with a ton of experience and probably a top 2 Heisman contender

That Ohio St offense was short handed tonight and still rolled against a pretty good Utah team. They would have put up points against georgia.
