What are peoples thoughts on this? I guess the standard thinking would be the teams returning with the most experience and starters would fare the best in comparison to others at least in the first part of the season. I think this could be a problem for teams breaking in new QBs also - like Georgia and Franks there at Arkansas.

If Franks and Newman were freshmen I think it would be a problem but both are seasoned QBs so it shouldn't a huge issue. I think teams that are seeking to build depth and find starters at the skilled positions (RB/WR) will be hurt the most. On the defensive side of the ball, teams looking to replace personnel in the secondary will also suffer. These three position groups require tons of reps that simply won't be available pre-season.

It will definitely be a problem for FSU, with almost an entire new staff and new systems on both sides of the ball.

For us its probably the newer D linemen missing the spring and the receivers on offense.

RB's don't need a ton of reps. Returning WR's don't need tons of reps, even if they have a new QB, because that QB has usually been in the program for a few years and so has had lots of reps with them already. But a true freshman or transfer QB, who has never thrown with those WR's, is losing reps that are absolutely vital to get the timing down.

The one position that needs reps far more than any other was oddly left off this list, and that is the OL. A group that is losing as little as one starter will be held back some because of the teamwork needed. A group losing as many as 4 starters, well, that's a problem.

Hurt the most? Let me flip that around the other way... o_O

Well, the team that will be hurt the least is the one that has a 'team mentality' that has been instilled by a superior HC & staff, to do all of the right things while out on their own.
The kind of young men that want to succeed and don't need constant minute by minute supervision to do what's right and what's needed. Self-starters and self-motivators that will be getting on with it until they can get back together and get going again.

The Gators will be ready when the time comes, IMOHO anyway...

I agree with this. The hardest spot to insert a freshman or player with no experience is along the lines of scrimmage. Now throw in a qb that has not been in the system I would think missing spring would hurt the most.
