I feel the Miami game should be a win for UF and it would continue the catapult for you guys by stomping on the canes(which i think will happen)...but what if you lose? Does that change your perception on Mullen? Your expectations? I feel like UF has ALL the momentum right meow

It depends on how we look. If we look coached and lose, we'll survive. If we look like FSU last year, it will get ugly fast.

Canes have some talent. We have question marks along the line. Could take the line some time to gel, so points may be at a premium. Not the end of the world if we lost.

As long as we look like we're moving the program along, have a good game and then lose? Won't change much - this was always a 3 to 4 year rebuild in my mind. Mullen needs 3 full recruiting cycles for me to have major expectations. That'll start in 2020 for me.

I expect 9-10 wins all in this year (including the bowl game) so I guess I'd reset that to 8-9 wins lol - but that'd be about it.

Wow, not one positive post. Every UM fan down here I have talked to feel we're the better team. Of course and as expected, they still think they will win. It's a rivalry game but I still believe we beat them by at least 13.

My original post was just answering the question, of how I'd take the loss if we did lose.

I expect to win by 2 scores.

Then our streak against them continues, we start the season with a loss, and life as we know just may cease to exist..

More likely is that we win though, another streak bites the dust, and Manny Diaz starts his career with a loss.. Either way I feel good about our head coach, and the direction of this program. It's been an offseason filled with commitmnts, decommitments, and hype vs hope debates. I'm ready for the real season to begin.

Short of recovering and winning the SEC East it would be a huge loss.

Not as bad as WHEN Boise State spanks you guys in J’Ville. Your athletic department is so cash strapped you HAVE TO KEEP Taggart so, it will be beyond ugly in Tallahassee wont it?

What is the over/under on number of people ejected/arrested from Camping World Stadium for fighting or over-intoxication? It’s gotta be close to the 1000 mark. Especially since it’s an evening affair. It’s such a healthy and civil rivalry.
Not that it takes them arriving in droves for that fanbase to show its obnoxiousness but the crowd is definitely going to favor you guys. Miami fans don’t even show up in Miami. But to your point it doesn’t take many fake guidos to ruin a good time.

The morning after both Miami games in Gainesville in 2002 and 2008, University Avenue looked like a complete garbage dump...

sadgator has never seen it like that after games with any other teams.

Those Miami people are animals...even the sketchy areas around Camping World are probably getting nervous...there’s gonna be a lot of lawlessness going on that day.

Streak? We are 1-1 vs Miami the last two games.

Yea it probably will. Fully expecting boise to take us to the wood shed

I feel like attending just to stir shit up. Might throw a football at someones cookout and then point to the rivalry cookout next to it. The key is to find that 1 drunk guy who wont back down and then make sure that he knows the other team thinks hes scum. Gunna be a fun night for me

Its so true tho. Tally never looked worse than after a UM gane. Those people are on a whole new level of poor.

...and the funny thing is...there is not one game on our schedule this year that sadgator wouldn’t trade to see us beat those sumbitches....

If the clock reads double zeros and we are ahead of Miami by 1 point, sadgator will probably have an involuntary orgasm on the spot.

What? What random useless stat are you rambling about?

Useless stat? You think losing most of your games against legit teams (power 5 conference teams) in your home state would be a useless stat. Besides defending home field that should be priority # 1 as it helps with state recruiting etc. A loss to Miami would be a big momentum killer.

I am not as nervous as you due to their O line but do think this game might not be as easy as some think. I would take a 1 point OT win now if it was offered.

We better at least have close to 2/3 of that stadium or their fans will be a mess.

Where are you getting that Mullen is 3-4 against P5 Florida teams. That useless stat.

He is 3-3 in the state of FL against Power 5 teams right now (Wins over SC, FSU and LSU, losses to KY, Mizzu and Georgia). Useless state my a** as the first thing any coach should want to do is make it intimidating playing in their home stadium and in their home state.

Its his first year so that isn't a big deal right now but if Miami was to upset us that would stick out being 3-4 in those games.

Gotcha, I misread. Thought you were saying Mullen was 3-4 against P5 Teams from Florida.

This one you pulled up, I have no idea what effect it would have going 3-4 in the state of FLA but if you think it will shut down the program and end all recruiting, I'll just take your word on it and let you continue to waller in pity and doom and gloom.

lol You know I am not saying all that but it would be troubling with the situation Miami is in right now. With the schedule this year Georgia is the only team we should possibly have a loss to in the state.

Meyer and Spurrier started 23-1 against what our current Power 5 conference teams in games in the state of FL their first 2 years. Visiting teams need to especially start fearing the Swamp again.

This whole line of thinking is classic Fever.

What else you got?

"Mullen really needs to win this game or he's in danger of being the first Florida coach to lose on August 24th. If you don't think that means something, just ask the recruits. Even Mac and Mus never did that."

I don't disagree. The first step in building a championship program is taking care of home field. Then surrounding areas. The rest.

Did Spurrier and Meyer take over the program in as bad of a shape as it was? That’s one of those facts that are what they are but don’t really tell much. We beat LSU at home, beat a really good MSU team on the road, and spanked Michigan in a bowl game. Mullen also beat more ranked teams his first year than Meyer or Spurrier did. Context matters.

Context is tedious.

My cherry picker post.

Dan is a road warrior. He went 4-0 vs P5 teams outside of Florida.

Hell Dan is undefeated his first season as a Florida coach in the state of Georgia year 1.

That's unbelievable. Spurrier, Meyer, Galen Hall, Charlie Pell, Dickey, nor Coach Graves went undefeated their first season in the state of Georgia. :D

I need to wiki or contact Norm Sloan to find out if Ray Graves or beyond won at GT his first season.

I mean Meyer lost 31-3 to a 10-2 Bama team (about on par with last years LSU and UGA teams) and 30-22 to a 7-5 South Carolina team. Are those losses somehow better because they were on the road? Who cares. Urban also only beat one team on the road all year, a 3-8 UK team. So using this logic he couldn’t win anywhere away from home.

And this was with a team predicted to go to the SEC Championship that year. So he actually underachieved losing 3 games. I remember all the meltdowns about how his offense wouldn’t work. Nothing but revisionist history.
