I think we beat Oklahoma in a shootout if its regular season but what players skip the game could be a big factor here.
This game is unlikely to be a shootout. This edition of Sooner Football is very different from the past Riley teams. Our O is good but not dazzling like it has been in recent years. Lot's of reasons but too many to go into herein. On the other hand this is the best D we have had in 17-18 years. We have already had most of our opt outs but could lose more although a small senior class. We are a very young team.I think we beat Oklahoma in a shootout if its regular season but what players skip the game could be a big factor here.
Fever,
Any news on whether or not Kyle Trask is playing in the Cotton Bowl ?
Can see arguments on both sides.
Opt out - prepare for NFL draft.
OR
Play a great game & influence draft status.
Hoping he picks 2nd option.

Kyle Pitts opted out.I think we beat Oklahoma in a shootout if its regular season but what players skip the game could be a big factor here.
Mullen said Trask, Grimes, Toney and Carter could all opt out, but none have announced yet.
Grimes should for sure play to get more exposure.Mullen said Trask, Grimes, Toney and Carter could all opt out, but none have announced yet.
Looking forward to a little @instaGATOR & @nail1988 trash-talking before, during, and after the game.
Oklahoma will score at will. Lincoln Riley vs. Grantham may be the biggest mismatch at the coordinator spots ever.
They are good on offense but their offense isn’t as good as Bama’s or Ole Miss. I’m sure they will score a lot of points though.Oklahoma will score at will. Lincoln Riley vs. Grantham may be the biggest mismatch at the coordinator spots ever.
That’s exactly why they would, to prepare for the SeniorCan’t see him opting you since he has already agreed to play in the Senior Bowl.

Alex Grinch? Wow, is there a better name for a DC?oozie7,
Your post made me curious, so I looked at the Oklahoma Football Staff.
https://soonersports.com/sports/football/coaches
From your post, I thought that Riley, like SOS was his own OC. The actual breakdown of offensive duties is as follows -
Lincoln Riley - Head Coach, Quarterbacks
Shane Beamer - Assistant Head Coach for Offense, TEs and H-Backs - just hired as USC East Head Coach
Bill Bedenbaugh - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line
Cale Gundy - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Inside Receivers
Dennis Simmons - Associate Head Coach/Outside Receivers
Demarco Murray - Running Backs Coach - only offensive coach without a fancy title - LOL -
BUT - he earned some great verbiage during his playing days - "DeMarco Murray, OU's career leader in all-purpose yards and career touchdowns and the 2014 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, was hired as the Sooners' running backs coach on Jan. 27, 2020.
Alex Grinch is the DC; no one else on the defensive side of the ball has a title.
Riley obviously puts an enormous premium on offense !
Thinking there will be a bit of a mismatch between Dan Mullen's offense & Oklahoma's defense !

D staff at OU: Grinch is D-coordinator and coaches the safeties. Roy Manning coaches the cornerbacks. Brian Odam coaches the LB's and DE's and Calvin Thibodeau coaches the D-line. As I said in another thread, this is the best D OU has had in 17-18 years.oozie7,

There will still be a lot of points scored because your offense is good and our defense is very bad. And so far nobody had stopped our offense and very unlikely that OU will be able to stop it (assuming we don’t have a bunch of opt outs). I still think both teams will likely score in the 30s. Also motivation is a factor. Who knows if one team just doesn’t show up.This game is unlikely to be a shootout. This edition of Sooner Football is very different from the past Riley teams. Not too sure of that. Mr Larsen, err, @nail1988 in da head pretty much gets under insta's skin very easily.Looking forward to a little @instaGATOR & @nail1988 trash-talking before, during, and after the game.
You guys have fun in Dallas. Awesome restaurants, shopping, nightlife, even with COVID out there.
As I said elsewhere, it will either be 80 and sunny or 30 and sleeting if past Cotton Bowls hold true.
Dress accordingly and don't get lost in South Dallas.
I didn't realize they moved to Cotton Bowl to Jerry World. Going to get a lot of use around that time with the playoff game there too.Happily, ATT stadium has a roof, so at least the game won't be in the 30's and sleeting.

LOL I moved away in 2004. Had no idea.I think it was moved about 9-10 years ago.

That is surprisingly odd. I figured back in the old SWC days they would have been a fixture there. It is strange to think that this is only Oklahoma’s third time playing in the Cotton Bowl...

Ah, damn you are correct. Slow moment. They were an original member of the Big 8, not the SWC. IIRC, back in the old days, the Big 8 champ generally went to the Orange Bowl.
Agreed but this is the day that we live in now.Opting out is bullsh!t. Honor your scholarship.
This is the only stat that mattersJust fot the Todd Haters: Only 4 of the 11 SEC teams UF played scored more than 28 Pts on Grantham's D.
UF played 3 SEC teams ranked in the Final CFP Top 10. (1-5-9)
The Gators went 1-2 in those Top 10 opponent games, losing by a combined total of 9 Pts.
How many Final Top 10's have the Chokers played?
=====
Dan + Trask just put 46 Pts on #1 Bama in the SEC-C.
Is the Choker D better than Saban's Bama D?
With an 11 game (all SEC defenses) schedule, UF averaged 41.6 Pts/Gm.
UF's all SEC Opponents averaged 28.6 Pts/Gm
It's 6-5 240 Trask vs the Choker's baby rattler....
Snake catchers Cox and Carter will welcome him to SEC defense.
And oh BTW, UF leads the SEC in QB sacks with 33 on the season, 3 Sacks/Gm.
2-star Trask Passing - 285 of 409, 69.7% for 4,125 Yds, 43 TD's 5 Ints, L-71, QBR 186.65
In just 11 all SEC games:
Trask had more season yards than Grossman, more passing TD's than Wuerffel, and a better TD/Int ratio than Tebow, with just one less passing TD than SOS had in his entire 3 year UF career.
IF they give the Heisman to anyone else, then it will become a bigger joke than when they gave it to Troy Smith over Chris Leak, or to Sam Badford over Tebow.
5-star Rattler Passing?
Others Swooners Passing?
As to the (3-star Dan) choker with his head-nailed-to-da-flor....
Per 247 Sports 2021 Recruiting classes:
9. OK -- 16 -- 1 - 12 - 3 - 0 - Your 5-star is another QB for the bench
10 UF -- 25 -- 1 - 13 - 11 - 0 - Our 5-star is another CB to start/play as a Fr..
Dan continues to put 3-stars in the NFL, while the Riley Coyote still can't win a NC with Heisman xfer QB's that were trained by better HC's. All show and no GO...
