Well, now that we are eliminated from the playoffs it will be interesting to see the team's mindset

Looks like even if the miracle of all gator miracles were to happen and we were to win the next two, we still would be shut out of the playoffs. sadgator knows it is silly to even think about, but it will be interesting to see if the team again comes out flat after recognizing that that goal is no longer on the table. After nearly suffering cardiac arrest last weekend, sadgator can't really disagree with the committee rankings.

Cant complain about the committee.. we have played terrible. At least the committee is consistent, ND played like crap against a bad BC and they dropped them 2 spots. I still think we have a good chance at making it if we win out.. but I don't think we win out.. ND/STAN loser is out this week, OK/OKST loser is out this week, MICH/OSU loser is out this week. I think Iowa has a good chance at losing this week, could TCU pull off the upset over Baylor? Will Mich St come out flat after a big win and lose to PSU? We are guaranteed 3 teams a head of us to lose. but there is a possibility of 6 IMO that could lose.. All that we can do is win and the rest will play out...Maybe

I was surprised to hear Herbstreit say that the Gators will not be in should they win out. Seems a little early to write them off.

For us to beat BAMA they will need to play/look terrible, and us only slightly better, we aren't going to beat them in a well-played game with what we've got...that's what will keep us out...and then BAMA will be exposed

If we win out, we will be in. But it's not happening so it's not really worth talking about.

Hard to argue with this.

But how many of us said something similar, prior to the year?

"If we have only one loss prior to the FSU game and have won the SEC East then we definitely have a shot to be in the playoffs. But it's not happening so it's not really worth talking about."

So, there is always a chance.

Let's just beat FSU, have fun in Atlanta and a decent Bowl game and call it a successful year.

I get we have looked horrible but Okie St was not penalized for their pathetic performance vs Iowa St. and Stanford is a missed FG by WSU from having 3 losses.

Mich St. has looked pretty bad throughout the year too, but people tend to forget what isn't happening in the now. Clemson has also had some tight games with mediocre teams.

People read way too much into these things, of we beat Bama and F$U we will be in

No kidding. As much as I would HATE that, I can't imagine a 12-1 SEC champ NOT making it into the play-offs.

Isn't the premise of the CFP Committee "If the games were played today"? It isn't a predictor of future rankings, right?

Odds to win 2016 College Football Championship Game (1/11/16)
Team Odds
Alabama 3/2
Clemson 9/2
Oklahoma 15/2
Notre Dame 17/2
Baylor 10/1
Michigan State 14/1
Iowa 18/1
Ohio State 20/1
Florida 22/1
Michigan 28/1
Oklahoma State 28/1
North Carolina 50/1
Stanford 50/1

Not so sure we're eliminated, but we sit at just above impossible.

One thing about college ball though, is that when you tell these young guys they have no chance, it usually boils up some fight.

Just sayin'

The one thing people seem to want to ignore is that every week the committee says this is not a pole but an independent ranking each and every week. Meaning that it is not a deal where Sadie Clemson has to "fall". If we beat FSU on Saturday we will jump in the standings realizing they are still right there in near the top 10.

My thoughts on how it could shake out for UF to get in the CFP:

It think if Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Michigan State/Iowa win out then they are in. If Alabama were to lose in the CCG (assuming UF beats FSU) then UF will be competing with ND for the final spot. There is only going to be one conference rep in the CFP. A one loss UF is not going to lose out to a one loss Big 12, B1G team that did not play/win in their conference/CCG.

So, basically, you can count B1G champ- Iowa, MSU, Ohio State, and Michigan(maybe) as one entry into the CFP. Oklahoma/Baylor/OSU(maybe) as one entry. Clemson one entry. Bama as one entry. If Bama were to lose to UF and UF also beats FSU then it will come down to ND and UF, imo. Provided ND beats Stanford. I think the Pac 12 is pretty much done. All of the duplicate conference teams that do not win their CCG will fall to the side if UF wins the last two.

Pull for UF to win their last two and ND drops their game against Stanford and I think UF is almost a lock to make the cfp. Lose one of the last two and UF is out....even if they win their CCG.

CFP: B1G champ, ACC Champ, B12 Champ, $EC Champ if it is Bama. If UF wins the last two then the final spot is between a one loss ND(if they beat Stanford) and UF. All the other teams ahead of UF at this point will fall to the wayside.

This playoff system is completely stupid to be honest. Once again we're relegated to the dreaded 'eye test'! It's the same ole 'beat your opponent by 50 or we'll make you suffer' mentality. I thought the playoff was supposed to be the end to this nonsense.

Can you imagine if this was how it was done by the professionals. 'Sorry you didn't cover the spread, so we're going to let another team take your place in the playoffs. Who cares if you won your division, you look awful.' smdh

There is absolutely nothing different from the antiquated AP writers poll deciding a MNC. Why in the hell can't these fecking morons just have a 8 team playoff, with the Power 5 conference champs as auto qualifiers. Then you take the highest ranked independent and two wild card teams(kinda like a play in game). And let whoever the hell wants to pick the damn wild card teams pick'em, whether it be the coaches, media, committee; I don't care who.

Geez...how damn hard was that.

We haven't looked like a good football team since the UGA game nearly a month ago.

That's why we dropped the way we did.

If we win out, really not concerned.

sadgator does not agree that the current playoff system is "stupid;" however, your 8 team playoff scenario would be orgasmic to see in reality.

No.

Never ever want to see that mess.

I've always liked the plus one format for years, but 8? Just silly. The number 8 team is NOT the best team in the country any given year and shouldn't be given the opportunity to get "hot" at the end and pretend like they are.
