Well it looks like Steve Spurriers Orlando Apollos won't be finishing this season. Two weeks left in the regular season and it looks kaput.

Apparently of the pledged 279 million dollars pledged by a donor, only amounted to 70 million. He was granted control though for his pledge and he has overwritten Bill Polian and Dick Ebersol.

I didn’t see any of the games but the highlights looked pretty high quality. It was beneath Spurrier but his team looked pretty good. Are there enough players to support an entire league? everybody in college gets drafted and half of them are probably hurt in three years.

From what I understood they wanted it to be like a feeder system to the NFL, like NFL Europe back in the day. The problem was the players association wasn't willing to work with them. It takes a lot of money to operate a football league. Apparently they only got 70 million of the promised 270 million by the donor who pulled the plug.

I see. That’s a better concept. Still wonder if a team would rather have guys in that league or their practice squad.

He spoke with Bianchi today on 740 am in Orlando and said he called Strickland to tell him to warm up his office. That is one thing i will miss, his weekly radio appearance.

"Congrats to the Head Ball Coach and the Apollos for winning the East," Neuheisel wrote in a tweet. "The Hotshots won the West. How best should we play this off?? Wait.... WE DID!! #Shotsarechamps22-17."

Neuheisel and the Hotshots were the only team that beat Spurrier and the Apollos during the season, but the always-clever Spurrier was not going to let Neuheisel's comment go unchallenged.

"Ricky Neu, too much tequila for you!" Spurrier wrote in a reply to Neuheisel. "Apollos 7-1, Hotshots, San Antonio and B-Ham all 5-3. Congrats on second place!"

Yep, the ole HBC has still got it.... :D

Apparently the league just bailed and left the players holding the bill at hotels and airports.

I’m glad I was able to make it to a game to see Spurrier coach one more time.

Even as Nole, I appreciate that man. He was so fun to go against every yr. He was/is quick witted, great coach, and just a great person. Love the ole ball coach
