We need to find a way to play FSU

It would be a great game and likely the most lopsided game in series history since I started watching college football (early 80s). It would likely hurt the FSU image and brand even more than it already is if they went a season getting beat really bad by their 2 biggest rivals who are in-state programs as well.

I would expect we would have 40-50 points at halftime if that game was played.

The spread would be 28-35 points and we’d cover it like 72-20.

If you guys had 2 losses or no shot at even a conference championship it would make sense but you have too much to lose beating us. Your only gain would be a higher ranking after you beat the team that beat Clemson. You can hold that argument over them.

They wouldn’t even get close to him to lay a hand on him. Their defense is one of the worst in the country.
They’d dive at his legs after the game. They are pure evil and they I’ll always try to do the worst thing they can. This, my friend, is the way of the nole.

However, they have tried to hurt our players on many occasions, and that never stopped us before. They don’t deserve to be able to hide from this beatdown. They should have to play us, at least in a scrimmage that wouldnt officially count but would still show where our program is compared to theirs. Our third string could play the whole game and still hang 50 on them. The world deserves their beatdown

There are many teams we might end up facing in a bowl game should we lose to Alabama and thus not make the playoffs. I suppose a third straight NY6 bowl game would be our fate then, but who knows what the requirements are this year for teams to get bowl eligible anyways? I mean the PAC10 is barely even PLAYING 6 games in total. For all we know FSU will be bowl eligible and might end up highly ranked enough in the ACC to meet up with us. Lotta football to be played still.

A bowl game between 9-2 Florida (assuming we lost to Bama) and 2-9 FSU. Since there won't be any fans, why not? The ratings would be decent, considering the mismatch, as UF and FSU fans would watch, and you would get some national interest, you know, from people who watch NASCAR for the wrecks, that sort of person.

Somehow, more than beating FSU this year, I'd rather we get to play Georgia and beat them a second time right now.

Failing that I'd rather we get a crack at an undefeated perpetually overrated cupcake team like Notre Dame or Oregon.

Oklahoma? Sorry nail.

Danny,

I could live with that !

Our defense so bad that I don't see us beating Bama. Strong as a Bama Analyst has helped them a great deal.

Muschamp as a Gator Analyst would help us.
Our defense is bad but you do realize Bama’s defense has actually been just as bad if not worse against common opponents such as UGA, Missouri, A&M and Ole Miss. UFs defense was better against UGA, Missouri and Ole Miss. Bama’s defense was better against A&M. I don’t think Strong has done anything to help them a great deal.

Even if we are a bit better, there is no way the SEC offices and the men in stripes are going to give us a fair chance to win the game.

Paco,

My math shows Gators' defense better against Ole Miss & Missouri; Bama's defense better against Tamu &. UGA.

Difference of only 6 points allowed against common opponents between Gators & Bama - BUT there is the critical difference of the Gator's 3 pt loss to Tamu vs Bama's 28 point win.
Margin of victory over all 4 common opponents favored Bama by 26 pts.

.............................Pts allowed....................Pts allowed
Opponent................Gators............................Bama
Ole Miss....................35 .................................48
Tamu.........................41 .................................24
Missouri....................17 .................................19
Georgia.....................28 .................................24

Total Pts ..................121 ...............................115
Margin victory .......53 .................................79

UGA only scored 21 offensive points against UF. They scored on a pick 6. UF held UGA to less offensive points and yards than Bama did.

And only 10 vs Mizzou. (pick 6 in that game also)

GatorGray,

Thanks for the assist in computing points allowed.

Still the problem of our loss at Tamu & Bama's win.

If we win out, we are in the SECCG, but the Tamu loss (& Bama) remain as a serious handicap for Gators moving on to the CFP.

As Lizard Grad 89 pointed out, we face two opponents when playing Bama on the field in Atlanta.

"Even if we are a bit better, there is no way the SEC offices and the men in stripes are going to give us a fair chance to win the game."

Wonder if the SEC offices will ever move out of Birmingham ?
