Don’t know that they’re gonna play a lot in 2020 if we have a season but in the near future you’re about to see some speedy little backs

UF be like:

Can they run a sub 10 second 100 meters? Otherwise not impressed.

Yeah, cause Saban didn't offer Lamical Perine until it was too late to flip him from his commit to UF. They (UA & AU) said that he was too slow, kinda like Emmitt was also too slow...

Agree with wrong board, but I needed a short break from the BS-C011 carp...
* List the last time any SEC RB had a 100 meter run for a TD....

Corey Wren is the track runner of the 2 and he is slower than Demps however with pads on I think he can be just as effective. Nakhichevan Douglas is the one I’m excited about he is a thicker but shorter player than Wren but he is also agile and fast and has good burst. They will both be used more similarly to Percy than the little guys in that they’ll line up at WR and at Running Back but their build and skill set is closer to Rainey and Demps

OK. How about a 4.23 40.

Gator Back Jeffrey Demps: The Fastest Player in Football
PHILIP DODSONJUNE 9, 2010

Demps has been officially clocked at 4.23 in the forty-yard dash. In comparison, former LSU Tiger Trindon Holliday ran a 4.27. The fastest man in the NFL ,Chris Johnson, was timed at 4.24 during the 2008 NFL combine. The 4.23 of Demps makes him one of the fastest football players in the country.

Those guys will do no good for the team when FSU(I assume you are talking about FSU because I don't know much about those two you mention) has/had a garbage offensive line for the past several years. Evidence is Cam Akers never did squat behind that line, and Akers seems to be a legit RB.

Overall team speed is good.
Individual team speed can be either good, or not so much.
i.e. Bo Carrol - John Capel,,, vs say,,, Emmitt Smith. o_O

And the coaching development of players is more important than raw speed, unless you're on the Track team....

the line should be a bit better in the upcoming seasons. We had 2 freshmen that are now 2nd year players who should be good players. And then a junior guard who is solid. Offensive tack and center need work but we shall see.

So you’re saying Emmitt Smith was a better running back than Bo Carroll? That it’s not all about speed?

Another brilliant analysis by Insta.

who is Bo Carroll?
He was more of a track athlete who played football for UF somewhere between 1998-2000. If I remember correctly, he qualified for the 200m in the 2000 Olympics but got a late start in either a qualifying heat or in the medal rounds because he thought the officials called a false start and ended up finishing dead last.
He was much taller than Demps and Rainey at around 5'9"

Bo Carroll never qualified for the Olympics as far as I recall. You’re probably thing of John Capel. He did win a NCAA championship on the 4x100 relay team.

Your ability to understand is just as good as it usually is.
While your attempts to tell me what I'm saying are as inept as they always are.

Yes, it was Capel. Not sure why I got those 2 mixed up. Carroll was built more like Demps and Rainey. No way Carroll was 5'9"

Oh ok. Maybe he would have fit better under the Mullen Meyer regime, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be

The important stat is the Team Rushing, not what any single individual does.
If you have just 1 great RB that gets injured, then you are left with a mediocre running game.

But if you have several runners that rush for over 400 yds each, and a few more that rush for over 400 yds combined, then you have an injury proof running game, and every one of them is alert and ready when their number gets called.

In 2007 with Dan Mullen as the OC, the Gators rushed for 2,864 yards as a team.
Team Combined YPC = 5.3 -- Yds/Gm = 200.2 --- TD's = 39
Dan uses a 'Committee Running Game,' and I've always advocated that method.

QB-dt Tebow 895 yds, 23 TD's (Heisman Season, no NC)
RB/WR Harvin 764 yds, 6 TD's
RB Moore 580 yds, 6 TD's
3 Combined 2,239 yds, 35 TD's
-----
RB James 139 yds, 0 TD's
QB-dt Newton 104 yds, 3 TD's
RB Fason 96 yds, 0 TD's
WR Caldwell 72 yds, 1 TD
Combined 411 yds, 4 TD's

4 others had a few carries and yards, but no TD's
Team Combined Total = 2,864 yds, 39 TD's.
==========

The following year, OC Dan improved on those numbers:
2008 3,469 Yds - 231 Yds/Gm - 5.9 ypc - 42 TD's

QB-dt Tebow 792 yds, 12 TD's (3rd in Heisman, but NC)
RB/WR Harvin 668 yds, 10 TD's
RB Rainey ---- 673 yds, 4 TD's
RB Demps ---- 621 yds, 7 TD's
RB Moody ---- 424 yds, 1 TD
5 Combined for 3,178 yds, 34 TD's
-----
RB Moore 147 yds, 4 TD's
RB James 65 yds, 2 TD's
Combined 212 yds, 6 TD's

And 7 more that had 79 combined yards with 2 TD's.

Size and/or speed of any player is only good for 'Talking Season.'
What you do as a team is what's important during the season.
======

2009 was 3,360 with 30 TD's.
Then Dan left to HC MsSt

2010 = 2,580 and falling, never to see above 3,000 in a season since.

2018 -- 3,047 yds with 23 TD's
Lost 4 OL to graduation with little experience and poor depth
Also lost RB Scarlett to the NFL, and RB Malik Davis to injury
2019 --- 1,956 yds with 21 TD's

Since Dan's been back, he's had to adapt to years of poor OL recruiting/coaching.
But I'm betting that they are finally on the way back.
