It's funny (to me), we probably agree on a lot of political stuff but I don't worship Trump therefore I'm a liberal.
He benefited from a Soros fellowship for immigrants to go to Yale Law around 2011, or so it seems.
Don't think it means much, unless you are on the left and claim he's a hypocrite.
He could very well have thought differently since then. Trump was a staunch Dem for decades ...

I googled "vivek / soros" and that came up along with several MSN type articles about Vivek paying to scrub mentions of his affiliation to Soros, the type of articles that Ray would spam the board with, so that says huge nothingburger to me ...

Vivek has two huge hurdles to overcome. He's short on political experience (and somehow we call that a negative) and his name isn't Trump.
Trump also had no political experience so that hurdle can be overcome. That second issue will be tougher, obviously...because we have a rather large group of people who will not vote for ANYONE not named Trump.
I like the guy. He's clearly VERY bright and more importantly for me, he's right minded. Right minded in both connotations and that's important to me.
I do worry, only because he hasn't shown the ability, politically speaking, and it's not a known quantity of his as of yet, is he just a very smart guy who can tell us the answers or is he a guy who can fight and win the day?
For me, if he shows me that he can win the day and that he isn't just the smartest nerd, I cannot see why I wouldn't vote for him.
Man, I really think we are so misunderstood. Trump is not the draw. DONALD TRUMP is NOT why we are so emphatic it has to be him. It is because he is the ONLY candidate, we trust that is not getting their strings pulled by big donors. It is because he is THE ONLY AMERCIA FIRST candidate. Trump is an ass. We ALL know that. But he is not as big of an ass as the media and their sheep portray him, because he only gets negative coverage. We see through that. We see 3 letter agencies going after innocent people, swaying political policy...we HATYE that under any circumstance. There are ZERO other people who can fight that.

Agreed. What he does (very) well is hold his own on the media outlets with a clear, compelling, and at times unforgiving view on an American first agenda.
Apparently, per this thread, we are also a country that can only be led by Christians. Not clear if that further cleaves down into certain types of Christians (e.g. no Catholics, Episcopalians are too liberal, etc.) but clearly not Hindus.
@Captain - want to know why people in the center may have voted for a Democrat and not a Republican? When someone like Vivek is not wanted because he is a Hindu, then, they feel they have no place in the Republican party. And to some extent, I cannot blame them...
This election is all about Trump. Both sides, but especially the right, needs to do 2020 again. He will win or lose and then in 2028, a new chapter can be written. Whether that is DeSantis, Vivek, or other, is unclear, but unless Trump is found to be doing something along the lines of selling secrets to a foreign country for money, nothing will stop him being on the ballot in the general.

Good post. I do think that Trump has captured the right and has become, especially with all of the indictments, a martyr that makes him uniquely close to the people that no other republican, even Ronald Reagan, could approximate. (certainly not the Bushes, Mitt Romney, etc.)
I do not think that of the core 40% of people who love Trump, they do love him for it and find him funny, non-scripted, etc.

First off, I have a wonderful autistic daughter whom we love dearly and have protected through hate, bigotry and soft-bigotry of low expectations from guess where - a supposed "Christian" Dutch Reformed school. The same people, and their children, who are anti-abortion, who pray and espouse all of the right things for a 90 minute time window, did little for her and do little for her now and find reasons not to hire her, etc. etc. The left, by the way, is worse. The same people who have BLM stickers on their coffee shops, espouse LGBTQ+ rights, will not have her be a volunteer. A volunteer - and why? She is a little awkward socially. It is not about empathy, it is about power.
In short, I am really tired of moralizing on both sides, because when push comes to shove, they do little.

So - in our exchange, we had a hypothetical. if my wife were to get pregnant again (almost impossible odds given her age, my vasectomy, etc.), yes, we would think LONG AND HARD about having another child. I am glad that you added in Judeo. My grandfather was jewish and was fortunate enough to escape the holocaust. I was raised Episcopalian, but my background is mixed. If you and MAGA want to remove Jewish people from the party, say goodbye to 6 percent of the population and even Ivanka.

This country was founded on the separation between Church and State. People, especially in the north, fled Europe for religious tolerance.

The other debates have been hashed. There is a massive difference between me choosing what I do with MY body, and only my body…and what someone does to someone elses body as a result of a CHOICE they already made.
Sounds like you have some resentment with God that the two of you will have to work out.
