UPDATE (AS OF 6:30 P.M.): The source close to Lewis just told me that he will not play this Saturday vs. Ole Miss despite now wearing a soft cast.

Spoke with a source close to Lewis. He's wearing a soft cast now after having a hard cast on his left hand for the past few weeks.
Jim McElwain said during his post-practice press conference Wednesday that Lewis would be evaluated Wednesday night to see if he could switch into the soft cast. With a soft cast, Lewis would be able to catch the ball more easily -- something he's had trouble doing in recent practices wearing a hard cast.
“C’yontai, we’ll get that evaluated tonight to see if we can go with the soft cast," McElwain said Wednesday. "He actually worked today on everything but catching, which isn’t great for a tight end but knows the game plan and should be able to go if we can shrink that cast a little bit."
