UF Softball 2025

So after 14 games, 3 of them against ranked teams (Michigan & Duke twice), the Gators are 13-1. D1 Softball had us ranked #1 as of 2/11, but when the new rankings come out, probably tomorrow, I imagine we'll drop a spot or two. Here are some numbers:
Team BA .370, 22 HR, 25 doubles, 105 RBI, 59 BB, 8 HBP, 27 K's, 34-36 SB.
Team ERA 2.06, 7 shutouts, 83 IP, 60 hits, 26 runs, 19 earned runs, 28 BB, 11 HBP, 72 K's, 1 HR, BA against .196.
Team Fielding .968 (not good!), 11 errors, 3 each by Rylee Holtorf and Mia Williams, 2 by Korbe Otis.
Individually, here are some numbers:
RF Taylor Shumaker .475, 8 HR, 5 doubles, 22 runs, 24 RBI, 8 BB, 4 K's, 4-4 SB.
2B Mia Williams . 474, 3 HR, 4 doubles, 11 runs, 6 RBI, 0 BB, 3 HBP, 5 K's, 5-5 SB.
CF Kendra Falby .450, 1 HR, 2 doubles, 21 runs, 5 RBI, 6 BB, 1 K, 13-13 SB.
SS Rylee Holtorf .421, 1 HR, 3 doubles, 11 runs, 7 RBI, 8 BB, 1 HBP, 0 K's.
C/1B Jocelyn Erickson .361, 2 HR, 3 doubles, 13 runs, 17 RBI, 6 BB, 1 HBP, 2 K's, 1-1 SB.
3B Kenleigh Cahalan .351, 1 HR, 4 doubles, 5 runs, 11 RBI, 4 BB, 2 K's, 1-1 SB.
LF Korbe Otis .310, 2 HR, 1 double, 11 runs, 9 RBI, 14 BB, 4 K's, 3-3 SB.
P/DH Ava Brown .286, 0 HR, 0 doubles, 2 runs, 3 RBI, 6 BB, 1 K, 1-1 SB
DH/1B Reagan Walsh .219, 2 HR, 6 runs, 2 doubles, 11 RBI, 5 BB, 2 HBP, 2 K's.

Primary Subs:
INF Gabi Comia 6-14 .429, 1 HR, 4 runs, 2 RBI, 0 BB, 0 K, 1-2 SB
OF/DH Cassidy McLellan 4-10 .400, 1 HR, 1 double, 3 runs, 2 BB, 2 K's, 1-1 SB.
DH/PH Layla Lamar 3-9 .333, 0 HR, 0 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI, 0 BB, 1 K, 1-1 SB.

Pitching Numbers:
Keagan Rothrock 6-1, 0.76 ERA, 35.2 IP, 23 hits, 0 HR, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 3 BB, 3 HBP, 1 WP, 32 K's, .176 BA against
Ava Brown 3-0, 2.74 ERA, 23.0 IP, 19 hits, 0 HR, 3 doubles, 9 BB, 4 HBP, 1 WP, 17 K's, .224 BA against
Kara Hammock 3-0, 4.67 ERA, 17.1 IP, 15 hits, 1 HR, 2 doubles, 13 BB, 4 HBP, 6 WP, 17 K's, .227 BA against
Olivia Miller 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 HR, 0 doubles, 3 BB, 6 K's, BA against .125

Early oberservations: Reagan Walsh has started off the season in a huge slump and as the #5 hitter, needs to get it going ASAP. Mia Williams vastly improved as a hiter from last season. Taylor Shumaker is a superstar in the making. Our middle infield has not looked good defensively overall. Korbe Otis has not played up to the standards of her All-American year in 2024 - yet. I would like to see Olivia Miller in the circle more often and can't wait until freshman HS AA Kaitlyn "Red" Oxley can start pitching. It's still very early in the year and a lot can happen, but as we all know this is a team with the talent and togetherness to challenge for an SEC & NCAA title. Excited about watching it all play out.

As of this morning, Florida ranks 3rd in D1 in Team BA at .393. We're 16th in Team ERA at 1.75. Tennessee is #1 at 0.96. South Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss & Georgia have Team ERA's better than ours at this point. We are #46 infielding at .973. We ae #1 in hits with 186, #2 in HR's with 34, #2 in On Base % at .486, #1 in RBI with 163, #2 in scoring at 9.26 runs per game, #2 in slugging at .702, #6 in stolen bases with 44, #2 in pitching shutouts with 8, #36 in strikeout to walk ratio at 2.68 & #26 in WHIP at 1.11.
Individually, Kendra Falby is #32 in BA at .500 & tied for #19 in SB with 19. Keagan Rothrock is #62 in ERA at 1.17, #30 in strikeout to walk ratio at 7.80 & #19 in innings pitched at 47.2. Taylor Shumaker is tied for #4 in hits with 27, tied for #1 in HR's with 10, #11 in slugging at 1.164, #1 in total bases with 64 and #1 in RBI with 33. Shumaker, also, is #1 in runs scored with 32 and Falby is #2 in runs scored with 29. Korbe Otis is #27 in on OBP at .590.
These rankings and numbers will all change drastically once teams get into their conference schedules, but it's interesting stuff to ponder for now.

The last 3 years, Gator softball fielding has been .973, .975 and now .973 so far. For the prior 9 years we never fielded under .980. That's an area this year's team definitely needs to work on. Powerhouse team, no doubt, but always area in which to get better.
