Pre-Season #2 and we finished National Runners-Up last year. Tremendous Gator program.

Gators have 3 world class gymnasts this year - Trinity Thomas, Leanne Wong and freshman Kayla DiCello. DiCello won the All-Around in their opening meet last weekend, but only competed in 3 events against Auburn, scoring 9.90 in the Vault and 9.925 in the Uneven Bars and Beam. They have a very deep roster, although the did lose 5th year senior Savannah Schoenherr to a foot or ankle injury last week.

Morgan Hurd might be considered world class as well with a 3017 world championship all around and a silver on the balance beam.

Good win.
They weren't great tonight, with a score of 197.325, but they were very consistent throughout and easily beat a shaky Alabama team that made too many mistakes, especially on the uneven bars. Trinity Thomas won another All Around title.

UF Gymnastics had their highest score of the season so far, easily defeating #17 Georgia 197.900 - 196.850. Leann Wong won the All Around because Trinity Thomas only competed in 3 events tonight, scoring a perfect 10 on the Vault, 9.975 on the Bars and 9.925 on the Floor. The coach is trying different combination on different events to come up with the 6 best competitors in each of the 4 events by the time post season comes around. Wong remains very steady at a high level, scoring 9.875 on the Vault, 9.975 on the Bars, 9.925 on the Beam and 9.875 on the Floor. Next Friday the 5-0 Gators travel to Arkansas for a 7:45 pm match on SEC+.

I’m into this. Looks like ESPN must have just signed a deal to broadcast it. Seeing it on sports center and everything. Go gators.

UF Gymnastics had by far their best match of the season in handily beating #15 Missouri at home 198.350 - 196.625. The combination of Trinity Thomas, Kayla DiCello and Leann Wong was amazing tonight, with Sloane Blakeney and Peyton Richards pitching in with very high scores as the Gators went over 198 for the first time this season. Trinity Thomas won the All Around with a 9.900, 9.950, 10.0 and 9.975. Freshman DiCello scored 9.900, 10.0, 9.975 and 9.875. Next up for the 8-0 Gators is @LSU next Friday at 9 pm on ESPN2.

UF Gymnastics had their 2nd highest score of the season and yet lost at LSU tonight 198.100 - 197.975. The Gators drop to 5-1 in the SEC, 8-1 overall and need to beat Kentucky at home next Friday to win the SEC regular season championship. It's interesting that national rankings have nothing to do with won/loss record in gymnastics, as LSU are ranked #8 and yet are only 3-5, 3-3 in the SEC. National rankings are based on an average of the match scores from all their matches. Wins and losses only count for conference standings.

#2 Florida hosts #12 Kentucky at 6 pm on the SEC Network to decide the SEC regular season championship. Unlike national rankings, which are decided by a formula for averaging meet scores, conference titles are determined by won-loss record of head-to-head conference matches. Florida is 5-1 in the SEC, Kentucky 4-1 with their final match next week against Auburn. Only Alabama has only 2 losses and the Gators have already beaten them. If the Gators win tonight, they are the SEC champs. If Kentucky wins and then beats Auburn next week, they will be champs.

#2 Gator Gymnastics just won their 5th straight SEC championship by beating #12 Kentucky at home 198.150 - 197.575. This was the Gators 2nd highest score of the year and Trinity Thomas won the 30th All Around title of her career. One of the greatest athletes in UF history, IMO.

Oklahoma beat Florida. However, UF's coach Jenny Rowland rested 3 of her best floor exercise gymnasts and their replacements all scored below 198, essentially giving the match to the Sooners. With the Gators having won the SEC and pretty much locked into the #2 ranking, I have to keep remembering that national rankings in gymnastics are based on overall averages scores and not wins and losses. The goal, once the SEC has been won, is to win the National Title and she was doing what she thinks best to get her team as ready as possible for the post season. Last year we beat Oklahoma on-on-one in Gainesville and then lost to them in the National Finals. Anyway, it was a fun event to watch and I was disappointed that we didn't get to see a full out attempt to win.

we lost it on the floor for sure and Trinity didnt have a good meet either, we will see them again

#2 UF Gymnastics finished their regular season Sunday afternoon in Denton, Texas winning a 4-way meet that included Texas Women's University, Washington & North Carolina State. The Gators had their 2nd highest meet score of the season in easily defeating their 3 opponents with a 198.175. Gators finish the regular season 12-2. Up next are the SEC Championships in Duluth, Georgia on Saturday. Here is today's meet summary:

After winning the regular season SEC title, #2 Florida won the SEC Championship Meet in Duluth, Georgia Saturday night, setting a meet record with a score of 198.425. It was their highest score of the season and 3rd highest in program history. Alabama finished 2nd with a score of 197.925, their season best. Trinity Thomas won the All-Around for the 2nd straight year at the Championship Meet. She, also, was awarded perfect 10's in the Uneven Bars and the Floor Exercise, giving her 27 10's for her career, just 1 short of tying the all time NCAA record of 28. I'll post a link to the official article about the meet tomorrow. Meanwhile, this is a link to the StatsBroadcast data:

Florida won their session at the NCAA Regionals in Pittsburgh Friday night, but superstar Trinity Thomas stopped in the middle of her floor exercise and was unable to compete in the Vault and Uneven bars due to an apparent lower leg injury. Without Thomas, the Gators chances of winning a national title took a major hit. They still have to finish in the Top 2 of the Regional Finals to make the NCAA finals on April 13-15.

Without Trinity Thomas, #2 Gator Gymnastics finished 2nd in the Pittsburgh Regional behind #7 California, but they still qualified for the National Championship meet in 2 weeks. Cal won with a team score of 198. 075. The Gators had a team score of 197.800, edging out Michigan State at 197.650 and Arizona State at 197.475 for the 2nd qualifying spot from the Regional.
Other qualifiers for the national championships so far from the other regionals are #4 UCLA, #5 Utah, #1 Oklahoma and #9 Kentucky. The Denver Regional starts at 7 pm and will determine the final 2 qualifiers among #6 LSU, #11 Oregon State, #3 Michigan and #14 Denver.

I think it's fair to say that without a healthy Trinity Thomas, Florida's chances of winning the national title are not very good. The Gators finished National runner-ups last year to Oklahoma and have been neck and neck with the Sooners all year in the rankings. Let's hope Thomas is well so the Gators can send their best team to the National Tournament.

Gators finish 2nd to LSU in the national semifinals, but beat out Cal & Denver for the right to compete with LSU for the national title on Saturday. The other semifinal and last 2 national title participants will be determined tonight between Oklahoma, Utah, UCLA & Kentucky . Florida was not up their normal standards, as nerves seemed to affect all the teams today. Trinity Thomas competed in the Uneven Bars and Vault. The Gators led the field after their first event, dropped to last after the beam, then took back the lead after a great floor exercise. UF finished up OK on the vault, while LSU had an excellent uneven bars to pass the Gators for the win. Final scores: LSU 197.4750, Florida 197.4000, Cal 196.9125 and Denver 196. 5000.
