UCLA Fired Jim Mora

“We continue to have very productive conversations related to our football team,” Stricklin told Goldkamp once off the plane. Stricklin added the search for the next coach is ongoing. “We’ve got a process we’re going through. There will probably be some more productive conversations in the days ahead.” The athletic director added, “Lot of interest in the job," before rushing to an awaiting car.

GatorBait's Thomas Goldkamp first reported that Florida reps were traveling to meet with Chip Kelly on Sunday afternoon. While in the air for this meeting, news of UCLA firing head coach Jim Mora broke, and Kelly quickly become a top target of the Bruins. There is even a report that Kelly will meet with UCLA on Monday.

Dan Patrick on Chip Kelly: It felt like that was Florida’s chance and they didn’t get it done.

Dan Patrick: "If you're Florida, I don't know how you go up to New Hampshire and not come back with Chip Kelly. It felt to me like that was Florida's chance and they didn't get it done."

Personally, I see that as a solid positive outcome, not as a negative. (iG) ;)

iG's 'Inside Scoop' on the N.H. trip is this: They only went to talk to the cow-Chip about how good of a coach did he think Scott Frost was/is, and to let him know that he was a possible 'fall back' candidate for the job, but only if they couldn't convince anyone else on their real list to take it...

If Kelly likes the Florida job better than UCLA, then he'll take it. His agent is a UCLA alum. You don't think he knew that that job would be coming open? And if he had/has interest in the UCLA job, it's not like Stricklin was just going to go up there Glengary Glenross style and smooth talk him into signing before he was ready to make a decision. If Kelly chooses UCLA, it's not going to be because Stricklin couldn't make the hard sell. The jobs are what they are. But that will be the narrative, and a tough way for Stricklin to start out. What if we lose out to Nebraska on Frost, and Stricklin has to get everyone excited about Mullen or Strong?

Mullen, Strong, or anyone else on the list is just fine. No worries mates, the big $$$ started telling SOS and everyone else around 2000 that ANY OLE BODY could now win at Mighty UF.

Not the 1st or only time that the $$$-mouths have ruined a good thing imo, and likely not the last. Some people believe that making money in one area, makes them genius types in all areas, including football. Dan 'The Snake' Snyder of the Washington Snakeskins is a prime NFL example of the worst of it....

Enter the Zook/Muschamp/McElwain era (with a short lived Meyer 6 year span mixed in)....

As for iG, I'd like to see Scott Frost take the job. After that, it's a total crap-shoot imo, with any other having an equal chance to do well or to stink up the joint.

As to how important is all of this to me and to my life,,, zzzzz
