Big time WR prospect. UF will sign the best WR class in the country this year.

He's the best WR prospect that we recruited in this cycle IMO.

Big time receiving class. Franks is going to have some weapons!

Spring will be giving some of those WR's a bump for entering Fall practice. We shall see.... o_O

#4 WR Tyrie Cleveland 6-2 194 **** - Houston, TX

* #6 WR (jc) Dre Massey 5-9 184 4.34/40 **** - Mauldin, SC (Jaquez Green?)

* #16 WR Josh Hammond 6-1 179 **** - Hallandale Bch, FL

* #29 WR Freddie Swain 6-0 177 **** - Citra, FL

#61 WR Rick Wells 6-0 200 **** - Jacksonville, FL

(* = EE, and the rankings were taken from ESPN)

The best (highest recruit ranking service) WR coming out of HS, is often not the best receiver over a college career, ie Chris Doering vs John Capel.
Or more recently - E.Lane vs A.Callaway.
You/we just never know until the hind-sight kicks in... :cool:

WR Grant Holloway 6-2 190 4.26/40

He took a 2016 UF Track Ship: He lines up at WR and RB. He returns kicks. He's also a willing down field blocker. I'm really starting to hope that this kid plays football for UF. He did have a fine list of offers from other Top P-5 programs, including Tn, Ole Miss and UGA.

IF he plays football for UF, then I'd say that the Gators did 'far & away' have the best (6) WR class for 2016.
Cleveland - Massey - Hammond - Swain - Wells - Holloway.
And it might even end up being UF's best WR's class ever, although that has a ways to go before we'd know. o_O

Do you guys remember Bo Carroll? I was watching this last week and remembered his explosiveness

Nafis Karem was the highest rated and Quez was the lowest rated out of Karem, Hillard, Anthony, and Green.

IF the OL gels and IF we can find a QB that can complete a pass against air, then we MIGHT have a pretty good offense next year.

Lots of "ifs" and "mights"

A bit off there with your info, but no-problem-mo, (let me help). :)

1995 Gator WR Roster:

Chris Doering Sr (SEC Career TD Reception Record (31) as a walkon)
Sorola Palmer Sr
David Nabavi Jr
Reidel Anthony Soph
Ike Hilliard Soph
----------
Nafis Karim 5-11 181 Fr

Jamie Richardson 5-11 173 Fr

Jacquez Green 5-9 168 Fr

Travis McGriff 5-9 176 Fr *** (some claimed UF only recruited him as a 'Legacy' gimme)
As a Sr, Travis set the SEC's Single Season Receiving Yards Record 1,357 yds, while scoring 10 TD's.
He was then a 3-93 NFL Draft pick to the Broncos, and later with the Falcons.

~ And Brindise was nick-named 'Fat-Dog' not Fat Boy...

What you said about McGriff being a legacy scholarship... Many said the same about Jabar Gaffney...a two star

They also said the same about Vernell Brown, also a two star.

Nafis, Reidel, Jacquez, and Ike all signed the same year. Nafis was the higher ranked of the 4. Quez was the lowest. Doering was already on campus. McGriff was a year behind those 4. Quez and Nafis redshirted while Ike and Reidel played as true frosh

I think Jaquez was a year after Reidel Anthony and Ike Hillard?

Maybe I am misremembering. Ike and Reidel played as true freshmen, so maybe Quezzie did not and redshirted

I know Quezzie played in '97 and Ike and Reidel did not, but I don't remember if they came out early or if Quezzie was a year behind them

Quez played in 95 and blocked a lot of punts then broke his leg on a kick return against Nebraska in the NC game im pretty sure. That was when he was wearing #12

You guys are correct.

Anthony and Hilliard were part of the 1994 recruiting class. Both played as freshmen and left as juniors. Nafis Karim was also a member of the 1994 class if I'm not mistaken. He redshirted his freshmen season. Back then the recruiting services were like Super Prep,Prep Star, and the ever infamous Forrest Davis. Those publications had Nafis ranked over the other two and that ranking was higher than Jacquez ranking in 1995 recruiting class.

Quezzie and Travis McGriff were part of the 1995 signing class. Quezzie played as a freshmen and was injured in the national champ game vs Nebraska in 95. He left after his junior year. McGriff stayed all four years.

So combine the two classes I believe the rankings at the time went like this
1. Nafis Karim
2a. Ike Hilliard
2b. Reidel Anthony
It was very close depending on the ranking
4. Jacquez Green
5. Travis McGriff...which was ranked also below Jamie Richardson who I didn't count due to dismissal from team.

John Capel was part of the 1998 class and was probably ranked coming out above any of the others listed.

Had instant replay be allowed in 1998 John Capel would have possibly destroyed UT's title hopes. He returned a kick after halftime for a TD but after he scored he was mysteriously called to have stepped out of bounds. He was 4 inches from the out of bounds area. Oh well Gaffney returned the favor a few years later.
