I think we all agree that big tech needs to be broken up. Way too much power.
Google definitely needs to be broken up. I think Facebook is close, but I don't know how you break up Twitter.

There definitely needs to be some oversight. I'd hate to simply undo CDA 230 protections as that would pretty much shut down user created content across the web.

Why can’t it be both? Bringing as much publicity to their duplicitous actions via public court records can benefit him and legitimately enlarge his brand even more if they’re forced to let him back on.
Fair enough. Makes some sense

When a few companies have too much power and have the market corner, break them up.

Contrary to popular belief, I can and will disagree with Republican policies if I don’t like what I’m hearing.
Warren and Bernie are champions of that opinion. Don't hear many Republicans call for that unless it's social media besides maybe Paul.

They definitely need to be regulated better but I doubt congress ever agree to how.

There are times when it is appropriate. Breaking up Ma Bell was absolutely the right thing to do and it is the best know antitrust case in modern times. US vs US Steel was a failed attempt to do the same...and perhaps an overreach. Not completely sure TBH. Competition breeds excellence...I wonder if that competition would have helped the American steel industry in the long run?

The American Sugar Refining Company was another huge case but is less well-known.

I would not classify antitrust cases as anti-Conservative. At a glance they can sometimes seem counter-intuitive but they often build rather than destroy. The practice is meddlesome (anti-conservative) but less so than price fixing, absolute market control and the destruction of potential competition.

Why do you think Republicans favor monopoly power?
Free market and make as much as you can, plus ive seen Bernie called a socialist because of it.

no i dont think Rs favor monopoly, just know they favor success

I understand why you would ask. Government intrusion, the appearance of being anti-business both sound like anti-Conservative positions.

However, monopolies are also anti-Conservative in so far as they retard competition, industrialism, capitalism, open markets, private enterprise and free enterprise.

Governmental power over such can absolutely go sideways but who else could protect from such a thing? It's a necessary danger that must be closely monitored and rarely used.

Greed is good...I get it.

But, more money can be made without cartels controlling the spigot. So again, greed is good, still.

Why do you have to be so suspicious? As far as I am concerned, you are the only lib here I try to reason with.;)
I never called you sneaky 😄. You're pretty straight forward with me and you don't play the "gotcha" games like some people.

Look at that. The reasonable and understanding BamaFan1137 still exist with me 😄. I only asked because I typically don't hear Republicans say break up a company. Just good information from you guys.

Capitalism doesn't work at all in the presence of monopolies. It stifles competition, and companies like Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter have almost none. Underlying platforms like Google and their app store crush anything they do not like or approve of, and silence them. They gobble up competition as quickly as they pop up. It's cheaper to buy them than fight them in court. And that's how we got here to this point. It's rare to see anyone prevail anymore with regard to anti-trust suits. I can't remember the last time that happened since Ma Bell was forced to divide the spoils.
