The United States is revoking all visas for South Sudanese passport holders, effective immediately, and blocking new arrivals, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement posted to X. Rubio cited the African nation's refusal to accept the return of its nationals expelled from the U.S. "in a timely manner" as the rationale for his decision.
South Sudan is the home of Khaman Manauck.

I guess S Sudan had better change their mind! LOLOL

This should be a fun thread.

Kid is talented. He did nothing wrong. His government needs to comply with the administration’s requirement or they can deal with the brain drain. This is politics. It’s not personal.
I agree with this 100%. All that they are being asked to do is to accept illegal immigrants who are being deported. These are S Sudanese citizens so there's no excuse for them not to take them back into the country.

I do feel really bad for the legal immigrants that the S Sudan government is putting in jeopardy, including Manauk. I hope they get it worked out soon.

Agreed. Politicians ruin most everything.

Two questions:
Marco Rubio announced at 5:46 PM Saturday that all visas from S Sudan were revoked immediately meaning all citizens of S Sudan here on visa were now undocumented and illegal. Tip off for the Duke-Houston game was around 9 PM, so why did Dept of State, DOJ or ICE let Manaugh play if he were here illegally?
NCAA regulations require a foreign national to have a visa while attending college. So my second question is if Duke had beaten Houston, would they now have to forfeit that win because they played an illegible player? What a can of worms!

1 - no idea, but the point is now moot.

2 - we will never know ...

Whew. Now I can sleep better at night knowing those trouble making South Sudanese basketball players are being evicted from the country.

What isn't addressed is who is being expelled and deported back to South Sudan that South Sudan won't accept "quickly" enough in the eyes of the State Department. I'd kind of like to know what we are dealing with there before reaching any conclusion on the issue.

Did the South Sudanese getting expelled arrive here legally and we want them out now for some reason? Or did they arrive here illegally? Are they criminals and/or terrorists? Political refugees seeking asylum here and at risk of they have to go back? Kids in college who had VISA's for educational purposes, but someone just decided they had to go? Any judicial review of the decisions to expel? Does the State Department even know who exactly they are expelling and why?

They are on the brink of a TERRIBLE war in South Sudan. It must be stopped.

This would be a disastrous civil war that will kill >1MN people…

The South Sudanese Government needs to be very careful in this situation!

The kid at Duke will be 100% fine & receive an exemption.

Of course the Media doesn’t tell us ANY of the real truth. This is an “Orange Man Bad” BS narrative about a very serious issue. The Media is America’ enemy!

(Watches from his seat as the rails of this thread get further and further away…..)

Go Gators!!!

Agreed. Can't the government focus on important issues like lowering the cost of groceries?
I wonder what you were saying when thew brain dead IDIOT FJB made EVERYTHING go up 25% because of his spending on the INFLATION CREATION bill? I bet you said NOTHING. Because it is not about America to people like you...it is about your ridiculous unAmerican political views, and keeping power. THE END
