Trask is the best passing QB

At least I don’t have to worry about UF winning a national title this year. Your D is a disgrace to football with that talent on the field.

Trask & offense not great today; TD on 1st drive, but overall Gators sluggish 1st qtr. End of his four TD / game streak, no 400 yards - but Gators win the game.

Talking about Gators' defense a waste of time.

Heard during the Bama game a little bit ago that they're 91st in the country against the pass.

bamas got issues too. This Kentucky team just doesn't know what to do on offense in any way.

granted, I'm sure that'll change against us.

huge differences.

if you don't like Tua, just say so.
Since this boards main discussions are "The defense sucks" threads or "The Noles suck" as other threads, I'll debate with the longtimer. Tua was great but nowhere near "generational" . He never honestly fended off the shadows of Hurts. When he finally did, he got injured and this led to Mac Jones playing the role of being their next leader. It took Hurts coming in to save them in the SECCG. Hurts transferred and this left Bama taking the L vs AU and missing out on another playoff run.

Tua will do well in the NFL but will never break through anything Dan Marino did there. He won't win a SB for Miami. He will have a few good to great seasons and be another good career QB.

His little brother has looked pretty good at Maryland so far. Be funny if he turned out to be the better one and Bama let him get away.

The play of the safeties and Marco is inconsistent at best, looks great then sucks.
Grantham didn't recruit those guys (mostly 3 stars and lower end 4's).

However,,, Florida currently ranks No. 1 in the SEC in sacks per game with 3,
and No. 2 in tackles-for-loss per game with 6.43.

~~ Whatever is going poorly in the secondary is due to the McLame recruited players, and/or the secondary coaches. Todd coaches the DL, and those guys keep being awarded SEC Def Player of the Week.... :cool:
(DT Campbell vs VU)

Dan Mullen's Offence with Kyle Trask at QB (plus Jones)
13 Players with a reception.
6 Players with double digit receptions

10 Players with a receiving TD.
6 Players with more than 1 TD.

11 Players with a long reception of 34+ yards.
3 Players with a long reception of 50+ yards (L-71)

WR's = 66 Receptions
TE's = 38 Receptions
RB's = 34 Receptions
-----
WR/RB Toney = 42 to lead the team in receptions, yards (503), #2 in TD's (7).
-----
Total Receptions - 180 for 2,643 yds, with 33 TD's, 5 Ints (3-1-1)

The System and the QB's are producing the 'play-makers,' not the other way around.
Taking nothing away from the outstanding play-makers that are getting it done on their end.
On offense, the unselfishness of the TEAM is what's putting up the record breaking numbers.

When is he going to be taken seriously for the Heisman? I think if he beats Bama in the SEC championship game than it's his for the taking.
T. I'll take it one step further and say, if he keeps adding to his stats at the same rate as past games, then if we lose to 'Bama in a close game, he will still be considered..........jim

Eeeeh quite a reach there.

He's up there for sure. But I'd probably go Danny, Leak, Grossman, Trask in that order. Grier was a more gifted passer too but obviously didn't finish at UF.

You’d put Leak over Trask & Rex? I I’d have Rex, Wuerrfel and Trask in the top 3. Maybe Leak in at #4.
I’d still have Wuerrfel & Trask as 1A & 1B. Grossman was a little riskier and not as good with decision making as Wuerrfel & Trask.

Absolutely. People forget Leak held almost all the SEC passing records when he left and did that spending his last two years in an offense that wasn't fit for him at all. Even the offense his freshman year under Zook wasn't fit for him. If Tebow didn't immediately follow him Leak would be remembered more fondly for the gifted passer he was. Prettiest ball I've ever seen.

I do agree with you Trask has the best decision making of all of them so far. But we might be talking about two different things. When I think gifted passer I'm talking about the ability to make all types of throws from different arm slots, on the run, etc. Rex is probably #1 when it comes to that. Trask and Wuerrfel are the most accurate. Leak probably the best combination of accuracy with enough arm talent.

I'd go with Wuerffel, Grossman, Trask, Leak for passing. People forget how deadly accurate Danny was.

Maybe these opinions should address the TD to Int ratios for those QB's before talking accuracy.... 😇
On that stat alone, I'm guessing (without looking up their exact stats) that it's: Trask - Tebow - Wuerffel - Leak.

A fans favorite QB or player, is an opinion for each of us to decide for ourselves.

It is usually better to use multiple metrics to determine performance, but if we are just talking accuracy, one metric I like (among a few) is TD % to INT %. Helps control for sample imbalances. But yea... just opinions.

That raindrop pass Trask threw to Toney last week was pure Danny. Threw it before he came out of his break, it was in the air for seemed like 5 minutes, then dropped right in the breadbasket.
He’s thrown a few like that this year. I seem to recall one he threw to Zipperer in the back of the end zone I think against Mizzou where I said the same thing. That was a Danny throw

QB Kyle Trask in the 2020 Season in just 8 Games:

Passing - 195 of 273 (71.43%) for 2,810 Yds, 34 TD's, 3 Ints for a 196.79 QBR.

He is averaging 351.25 Yds/Gm passing with an
11.33 to 1 TD/Int Ratio. :eek:

To give that a little perspective, the
Gator's combined opponents have thrown for 15 TD's to 8 Ints, for a 1.87 to 1 ratio. :cool:

While Tebow is #2 in Gator history with a 5.5 to 1 TD/Int ratio (88/16).
