He has already shown us who he is. Don’t let the Lagway and Baugh performances blind you from the reality that Billy isn’t cut out for this job. His special teams, play-calling, game management, time management, and personnel decisions have consistently proven he cannot lead us to win big games.
We have the talent, especially with our young players, to compete at the highest level. The only thing holding us back is Billy. Just imagine what a competent coach could do with this team. Picture an actual offense with Lagway at the helm not being handicapped by Billy’s play calling. If we stick with Billy, we’ll never see Lagway’s full potential realized. Imagine the game we would’ve seen last night had Mertz and Trell not got hurt. Love those guys and what they’ve done for Gator nation but I’m going to venture and say we wouldn’t look the same as we did last night…
Maybe let him finish the season, but hoping for Billy to return as head coach next year is a mistake - no matter how many more games we win with Billy. We should support our players and the program, but finding a coach who can maximize this team’s talent is what’s best for the future.
