Second time in less than two months that someone has used a car as their weapon of choice to attempt to commit mass murder. This time in Las Vegas.

Bad analogy. You have to take a test to get a driver's license, you have to register your car and the main purpose of a car is not to kill.

We let 15 year old kids get a learner's permit and a 16 year old have a regular operator's license. That covers anything from a Toyota Tercel with a 4 cylinder, 1.5 liter engine to a moving truck you can rent from U-Haul.

Yeah, that's a real comforting thought those drivers' licenses.

What is the background check that is done on cars?

Seriously though, scary to see crazy people in fully loaded automatic deadly assault vehicles mowing people down...SOMETHING must be done!

1) There is no enumerated right to drive a car in the constitution.
2) You don't have to have a background check to get a license.
3) You don't have to register your car unless you drive it on a public street.
4) The purpose of a gun is to shoot a bullet. It's the operator that decides what it hits. Sounds like the same applies to a car to me.

So basically you can own and drive a car on your own property without getting the government involved. If I want to take my gun out in public I would have to get a license that requires me to take a four hour safety class, four hours of range time, plus be fingerprinted, AND get a background check. Seems like that satisfies your conditions and then some.

So funny how the same people want to declare everything a "right", from healthcare, to welfare, to not hearing offensive words, are almost completely unwilling to recognize a person's right to self defense. Just more proof that they don't really give a chit about rights, or people's well-being, they just want more govt intrusion.

Everyone knows that if you put a bullet button in a car, you can use the tip of a car key to push the button and it goes from a regular legal car to a turbo charged double shot NOS illegal drag racer. They designed them that way to get around the law.

I hear that if I have a rear spoiler AND a leather grip on the steering wheel, then it's classified as an illegal drag racer....

Are leather driving gloves an illegal accessory, or is that only if I don't have a secondary use for the gloves, such as for hunting?

I also think I heard future fuel tanks are only going to chamber 10 gallons of fuel, so that those who wantonly and dangerously speed can't speed for as long a duration

You can have three features, but once you go to four it's an assault vehicle. So you could have leather gloves, a billet stickshift, a rear spoiler (AKA the Trunk thing that goes up), but add a skunk racing exhaust and you're a criminal.

Why are you worried about cars?!?!

It's those damned Assault Pressure Cookers that are so dangerous!

This is interesting too:

Less than two months ago, she decided she wanted to change her name. She filed a petition to change it to Paris Paradise Morton on Oct. 8, and a judge granted permission on Oct. 30

Turns out her driver's license was suspended. How is it possible that she used a car to kill with a suspended driver's license? I thought laws prevented this type of thing.

Tougher laws are needed - she is obviously imbalanced. We need all people who intend to be granted a drivers license to undergo a thorough psychological assessment overseen by an appointed, unelected governmental board
