Tim Tebow requests a try-out with the Jags....

Well with Meyer being the coach he will probably be signed so he can participate in camp. As far as making the team it will probably be tough at that age and being away from the game for those years. Just trying this will probably get him some endorsement money however.

The tryout is at TE, not QB.

Looks to me like he could be a TE/QBdt backup.
At 33, he's in better shape than most are at 23, so I don't think that his age is prohibitive for now.
Sometimes, the stars just line up right, and this might be one of those times....

Hope this isnt a publicity stunt to sell tickets. He hasnt played since 2012 but he also hasnt been hit since 2012 so the body should still be good. He's a freak of nature with conditioning so I dont see age being as problem.

Age isn't an issue...lots of guys play into their 40's...Tebow has never had an issue with a lot of injuries, I'm sure his body is in great shape. TE is perfect for him. Can he make the team?

can he catch? The Patriots looked at that option, but if I recall he can't really catch.

who knows. But it'll be interesting.

If he makes the team you could see him possibly lining up in the backfield with Lawrence. That could give the defense something to think about.

Current TE's on the Jags roster:
Tyler Davis, 2 year player from Georgia Tech
Ben Ellefson, 2 year player from North Dakota State
Chris Manhertz, 6 year player from Canisius
James O'Shaunessey, 7 year player from Illinois

And they just drafted Luke Farrell from Ohio State in the 5th round. Will be interesting to see how it plays for Tim.

Taysom Hill cant do this. Eric Berry still has a headache after getting knocked on his A$$!!!!!!!!!!

Tim got screwed by the NFL because of his faith and outgoing personality, IMO. His bigger than life, positive Christian persona turned the hypocritical media off and made him a lightning rod wherever he went. He was a better QB than most of the back-ups and some of the starters during his time in the league. However, if he had agreed to switch from QB to TE or H-back, lower profile positions, some team would have signed him and he would probably have been playing all along. Or he could have gone to the CFL and been a star. But he chose his path and I doubt he regrets it. However, I would love to see the Jags sign him and give him a couple of years to show what he can do.

Tim's first 16 NFL starts were better than St John El'dimway's or Pettie-pie Manning's.
And they both came to the NFL with silver spoons in their mouths, while Tim arrived with a hateful cleated boot in his....

JMOHO here, but he would still make a better NFL QB than a TE.

I think some of the faith stuff had to do with it, but by-and-large, teams seemingly had zero interest in running an offense that utilized a QBs running ability at the time.

keep in mind, this was a decade ago. Things have changed a lot.

Also, he lost Josh McDaniels and had to deal with John Fox. Not good. He was the last person who was going to entertain the idea of a mobile QB option.

At the end of the day, Tim was adamant about being a QB. He could have been a better Taysom Hill over the last decade and seen how the league has evolved.

but, I think this'll be interesting.

He’d shoulda went to the Jags went he left Denver...if he had, the story might be different...however...because he didn’t....the ending could be epic...

The Jugs took Blaine Gabbert instead of Tim, and where is he and that former Jugs HC now?

Tebow chose not to go to the Jags the first go around because of the media circus it would cause and possibly take away from the team.

Maybe now the circumstances are different. It certainly makes a difference with Meyer in Jax now. And this go around it would get media attention but not like it would have back then.

As I recall it....
🤔

The Jugs HC said that he did not want Tebow, even if the owner/staff was considering it.
Tebow didn't want to go where the HC didn't want him.

As it turned out, the same was true with the NY Wets foot kissin' HC. He was in love with loser butt-sniffer 'The Sanchize....

The Eagles cow-Chip Kelly never wanted Tim either, he wanted the two loser QB's that got his dumbazz fired the next season instead.

Every NFL coach that didn't want Tim got fired shortly afterwards for his own stupidity....

The Pats owner & HC wanted him as a backup for Brady, but they already had Mallet on contract. If they released Mallet, they would still have to pay him. So they tried to trade Mallet away so they could keep Tebow, but nobody wanted Mallet so Tim was finally released.
Note:
Unlike others in the NFL, Belichick had no media circus problems with Tim in the preseason, proving that it wasn't Tim's fault that other teams/coaches did have a problem with the media-morons.

Welcome back Tim....
😎

A Florida Gators great, former UF quarterback Tim Tebow is returning to the NFL after five years away from the pros. The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to sign the 33-year-old, 2007 Heisman Trophy winner on a one-year contract and let him compete in training camp as a tight end, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Little surprised - Tebow doesn't need the money and has been ultra-resistant on playing anything other than QB...looking forward to this experiment.

This is the gross stupidity statement in that article, if you just look at the hard facts/stats.
"Long have NFL fans and media speculated that Tebow could make a move to TE given his inaccuracy as a passer"

Tebow at UF vs mostly SEC defenses:
Career Passing
661 of 995 (66.4%) for 9,285 yds, 88 TD's, 16 Ints (5.5 to 1)
WTF -- Since when is 66.4% with a 5.5 to 1 TD/Int ratio considered inaccurate???

Tim's last game as a Gator set a new Sugar Bowl passing record vs undefeated 12-0 #3 Cincy. --
He was 31 of 35 (88.6%) for 482 yds, 3 TD's, 0 Ints while leading UF to a 51 - 24 win.

In the 2011 preseason, El'dimway stated that whichever QB performed the best in the preseason would get the start. HE LIED through his horse faced buck teeth.

Tim played better than both Orton and #2 Brady Quinn, but El'dimway started Orton anyway.
It finally took the Bronco fans to force El'dimway to play Tim, after Orton started 1-4.

But because El'dimway hated Tim, he traded away the Bronco's top 2 WR's (including former Gator Gaffney) before starting Tim with the backups and rookies, which surely hurt Tim's completion % in the Broncos' HC Fox controlled excuse for an offense. El'dimway had already fired HC McDaniels and hired Fox for the 2011 season. Fox couldn't even pronounce 'spread offense,' much less operate one.

And even with all of the blocks that were intentionally put in his way, Tim still took them to the playoffs for the 1st time in years, and got a win over the Steelers #1 in the NFL defense.
>>> Tim won a playoff game in just his 15th NFL start.

With a new HC, 30+ new players on the roster, Peyton still took 34 games to win his 1st Bronco playoff game. His 2nd SB win was a poor joke on the backup QB that took them there. They had to 'spoon feed' Pettie-pie to get him a win on paper so that he could finally retire with 2, like Eli already had....

Rookie Seasons:
El'dimway - 7 TD's to 14 Ints, QBR 54.9
P.Manning - 24 TD's to 28 Ints, NFL rookie QB Int record that still stands.
Tebow's 1st 16 starts - 19 TD's to 9 Int's, 75.3 QBR

But Tim's the inaccurate passer????
No, Tim just got the biggest NFL 'screw-job' in history.

I dont think the problem with tebow is accuracy (i mean his accuracy wasnt good in the NFL but he could hit receivers). I think the problem was more his wind up/release being slow and the NFL not adapting their offense to his strengths. I think Tebow would be a great situational QB who can run on 3rd and 1 and do the option maybe a few jump passes and you keep him on the roster as a 3rd string QB.

I just love the man Tim Tebow. Optimistic, Christian, servant to other people, team guy. I wish nothing but the best for him and know he will succeed in whatever he does. The world needs more role models like Tim Tebow.

When he played for UF i absolutely couldnt stand him (mainly because he dominated us) but ive followed him since high school and hes won me over, hope he does well. As you said, if the world had more Tebows we would be in good shape.

I just hope he excels in preseason if he does make the team or we will never hear the end of it from the media that Meyer just gave him a slot.

They always need the money no matter how smart with it they were. Especially if he makes the team he should get a few nice endorsements.

And just like clockwork the media uses this idiot to imply Tebow has a done deal when he hasn't even been to camp yet to try and make the team to actually make the deal valid. They are going to try and create another circus again because they hate what he stands for.

Funny side note: Gene Simmons from KISS said essentially the same thing. People thought it was weird and Gene responded with something like, Are you insane? Tebow is a great human - we need many more people just like him right now.

The same POS Dez Bryant who accepted gifts and cash from Deion Sanders while at Oklahoma State? That Dez Bryant? Also an overrated WR with the Cowboys. It's no wonder he has no job in the NFL and is most likely broke pissing away his millions.
F₩ck Dez!

Tim Tebow is coming back to the NFL. After a six-year hiatus, the Jaguars plan to sign the former NFL quarterback to a one-year deal, CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones confirmed. As previously reported, Tebow will play tight end for the Jaguars.

I think Bryant did blow about all his money before attempting his last comeback. The media is a complete joke. All because they don't like what Tebow stands for.

The important thing for any QB, is where does the ball 'wind up' at....
Tim turned that 1-4 team around, made the Playoffs, and then beat the Steelers #1 NFL Defense in the NFL's shortest overtime Playoff game in history, 12 seconds, with an 80 Yd TD pass over the middle.
That was just one of Tim's Bronco & NFL Records he set in his (loser idiots) shortened career.
=====

The Jets foot sniffing HC, Guttosaurus Rex, kept The Sanchize and eventually released Tim.
That idiot decision got the gormless twit HC fired for incompetence shortly thereafter....
Tim @ Jets had a 75% completion percentage.
Using Tim twice on 4th down fake punts, Tim threw for a 1st down and then he ran for a 1st down.

While 'The Sanchize' got famous for his 'Butt-fumble' performance and for losing winnable games.
The Jets eventually fired both Rex and his Sanchize...

Tim wasn't a failure in the NFL.
The NFL failed Tim, while loving up on the wife and dog abusers.
This was not the 1st straw for me concerning the NFL, but it was the last straw....
The No Fun League had became the Nefarious Felony Losers, so I dropped them.

I hope Tim does well, but I still won't be watching or going to any NFL games.
