It had a mandate. It was not even based on income alone. There was a tax/penalty/fine whatever you want to call it that required some form of payment. Payment in most cases involves labor in exchange for revenue. Revenue that was compelled to be earned and spent via fiat. Therefore it amounted to forced labor. Forced labor = indentured servitude at best and slavery at worst.

This head tax was un-constitutional due to lack of apportionment. Had they made it a simple payroll tax then it would have been constitutional. But payroll taxes are avoidable and they wanted 100% control and compliance.

That is dem mentality. YOU will be forced into collectivism. You are a serf in their mind. You freedom is merely to do whatever immoral things you want as long as you fork over the required amount of money and are obedient in whatever collectivist scheme they have planned.

I have been for a national sales tax with a repeal of the income tax and a balanced budget with a max intake to not exceed 18% of GDP...the traditional percentage before zer0

I care not about the revenue, even though this would and could break even as long as the welfare state is reeled in. This is the freedom tax. You get taxed when you buy something and have first rights to you money.

The only freedom the left wants you to have is to engage in socially and morally bad behavior. Drugs, homosexuality, transgenderism, abortion and etc.

BTW people have access to healthcare. Its the payment part that is the sticky part.

One reform that would help. Allow bankruptcy that protects the house, cars, savings etc for medical care. Person is assessed no more than 5% of income for no more than 5 years. Make the insurance companies and healthcare providers split the cost 50-50 in those cases.

They will have to work together to solve the cost problem.

They want to collect your money once they've decided how much you should be left with, and give it to others who they need to keep in their vote column. It's all about power through control.
