It is sobering to recall how toxic things have gotten over the last decade -- and this was during a period of economic growth. Now toss a recession and higher interest rates into that brew...
Weird, at the beginning of the Pandemic, many on here (including myself) said there would be many consequences to shutdowns and forced mask policies that prevent emotional social interaction. Including uptick in violence and mental health issues.
Looks like we were correct, yet we only want to blame guns. Interesting.
The lockdowns certainly didn't help, but it feels like the toxicity in US political culture hit an inflection point right around 2012 and has since been accelerating.
But the violence acceleration around 2020 and beyond is massive. Coincidentally this around the same time as covid.
We are too busy shopping for new guns.
