Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, as an educator, now serving as an assistant principal, mental health cases have exploded over the last 3 years. Covid isolation definitely played a part, especially in the cognitive development of kids (we are at an all time high for students not passing state testing). Kids lack motivation to do anything. And when I say anything, I feel like I could tell some kids there is a million dollars on top of a building but you have to take the stairs, and they would not climb the stairs. Social Media and technology plays a huge part in the current attitude and decision making of kids. And with all the different views and stimuli going around at our fingertips, kids are more confused than ever. My favorite AB commercial was the 3 frogs saying “Bud-weis-eR.” Imagine many current kids favorite commercial will be of the Dylan guy, or even this north face commercial bc it shows a clown or a colorful outfit.
You all wouldn’t believe what kids do and say as of late. There are no consequences that warrant a behavior change, and as stated Above the lack of motivation is SCARY! One student shows up to school, hides out in bathroom all day long. As I’m trying to conference with the student to figure out what’s going on, I always ask what the plan is after HS. This particular student says “nothing. I don’t need a whole lot to survive, i will just live on the streets and be homeless.”

This shouldn’t even a right Vs left deal here. It should be a what’s best for our kids deal. Stop with all the indoctrination and political commercials, and just run your business. Anyone with kids currently, it will absolutely be tough roads ahead to keep them on track, and not get involved in crime and drugs. I hope things change, but I fear the status quo will be the landscape for many years to come.
