Thank you, Gator Nation, for being

So much insecurity in this thread.

Facts are, uf is rated higher than fsu academically but it is hardly an ivy league school nor, outside of the gator bubble, is it considered on the same level as other public schools like Michigan or North Carolina.

Tap your heels three times and repeat that to yourself, if that is what you need to believe twinkle toes

Florida is so far ahead of FSU academically, we can't even see you in our rear view mirror.

Same with the overall athletic program

Thank you for proving my point without me having to look up.

According to the WSJ, Florida sports programs are worth over $800 million dollars. Which ranks it 5th in the nation.

FSU? All the way down at #21 @ $325mm.

And? had nothing to do with my post. My point was, FSU/Jimbo is creating a larger gap in talent, not a smaller one. There is nothing on the horizon that appears a change is likely...If you are Gator fan, you can hang your hat on 10 win/2012-like season. Because the talent gap metric is showing the gap is widening, not narrowing in football, the outlook for the next few years is not very bright....You do get to cheer for track, though, which you loudly and vociferously jeered FSU fans for doing the same in 2008....you, BONG and a few others. Funny how the worm turns. In fairness, you also have women's gymnastics...they are pretty good.

This will be reinforced even more so this summer with the Olympics, softball, and baseball.
Congratulations...though I seriously doubt more than a handful of fans on this board have ever attended a gymnastics meet...or a softball game...or women's track. We all know that the only thing that matters is football....and you would give all that up for wins against Bama, FSU, and/or an SEC football championship and/or a national title.

I actually think most students/alumni have absolutely attended at least one softball game, gymnastics meet, and track meet.

lol and that football-only mindset will never allow FSU to ascend to UF's academic heights.

You're really digging yourself an embarrassing hole here.

Embarrassing is claiming that fans/posters with a football-only mindset would have any sort of viable correlation to a colleges' academic heights. For the record, also not buying the attendance at the various games mentioned.

Oh Dear

had nothing to do with my post.

Other than making a mockery of your point, I agree

My point was, FSU/Jimbo is creating a larger gap in talent, not a smaller one. There is nothing on the horizon that appears a change is likely...

That is true in football. That is true right now. But that was not your point. Your point was to deride Florida academics to make a point about football. As I demonstrated, football is only a part of the overall health of the UF sports program

..You do get to cheer for track, though, which you loudly and vociferously jeered FSU fans for doing the same in 2008....you, BONG and a few others.

Lying does not become you. Or maybe it does. After all, you are an FSU fan

In fairness, you also have women's gymnastics...they are pretty good.

In fairness, damn near every single UF sport not named football is better than its FSU counterpart.

. We all know that the only thing that matters is football....

You are so full of crap. FSU fans are only fans of sports where you can occasionally beat Florida. Witness the pride you showed in an earlier post about your track team. If your baseball team or basketball teams were national powers, you would be talking smack about that. As well you should. But you can't. So you don't. You pretend they do not exist and feign disinterest.

Yet I agree there are some fan that are ONLY fans of football. BONG was one of those. But most Florida fans like all our sports. That is one reason why we are so good in so many sports. Because we give a crap and demand excellence.

and you would give all that up for wins against Bama, FSU, and/or an SEC football championship and/or a national title.

You see what you just did there? You strongly imply that the two are mutually exclusive. That is where you are wrong. As the mighty Florida Athletic Programs have so aptly demonstrated over a long period of time.

I made no such assertion. I made two distinct, mutually exclusive points....one about football...a sport which FSU will have a superior talent advantage over Florida in the near future...a gap that only appears to be getting wider..the second point was UF academics are significantly overblown by UF fans. UF has an advantage in academics, but folks outside of the Gator bubble have little knowledge of this, because UF is not a player academically on the national stage. All other metrics being equal there is limited value in the differences between the two schools the moment a grad has an interview with an employer who is not a grad of the respective schools.

If I were to do as you say...deride UF academics to make a point about football...this is how I would do it.:

I could only imagine the beating a poster would take on this board if they did use the same metrics you just used for academics and applied it to football. "We are number 59! YAY!"...and then winnow it down to "We are number 14 if we eliminate all the really good schools! YAY!"

Why do you care so much about UF academics anyway when you didn't even attend the school?

Am I? I would look to evidence of the low basketball attendance at UF and say otherwise. The laughable attendance in Baseball and down the line. Florida is number 1 in baseball and the team will still struggle with attendance. We know which game will sell out though, don't we?!

Sports fans in the State of Florida care about one thing. Football. Attendance numbers repeatedly prove that. Your basketball team has 2 natty titles, was good for an entire generation and struggles to get 10,000 fans in the Odome...and that is your second most popular sport.

You are too invested in this argument to be rational.

wtf are you talking about? Our 2014 average hoops attendance was basically the capacity of the O-Dome and 2015, as disappointing as it was, was just slightly less.

Our 2015 baseball attendance was also 15th in the nation.

How does any of this indicate a "lack of interest?" These are awful conclusions. Truly awful.

Do they teach any evidence-based critical thinking at FSU?

Ok? This is correct, but history has shown it is transient.

UF has an advantage in academics, but folks outside of the Gator bubble have little knowledge of this, because UF is not a player academically on the national stage.

This is what you assert. But give no evidence. UF is in the top 14 of all Public Universities. That is fact, not assertion. Over 29k students apply to UF every year for around 6k places. That is fact, not assertion. Whether a top 14 Public University is a "player on the national stage" or not is a matter of opinion. You have not shared any evidence of why it is not. UF, still the only Florida school to belong to the American Association of Universities, has the most rigorous admissions requirements of the state schools and is ranked highest nationally.

As you admit, Florida does have an academic advantage over FSU. It is a SIGNIFICANT advantage.

All other metrics being equal there is limited value in the differences between the two schools the moment a grad has an interview with an employer who is not a grad of the respective schools.

Demonstrably incorrect.

You don't think there is a difference between public and private? I am OK with using the rankings of all Universities. YOU were the one that talked ONLY about Michigan and North Carolina. Both Public Universities.

And you are trying to make two points here. One, you don't think Florida is is the same neighborhood as UM and UNC. I showed we are.

The second is your attempt to imply that because you don't think UF is on par with those other two universities, there is not much difference between UF and FSU. I showed you the fallacy of that argument.

Why do you care so much about UF academics anyway when you didn't even attend the school?

Oh Dear. Bless your little heart. I DID go to UF. I even graduated.

Did you go to FSU? Did you graduate? Did you apply to any UF program at any time? Were you turned down?

This is your argument? Seriously? Gracious, you give dumb FSU fans a bad name.

I was asserting that Florida has a MUCH better basketball program than FSU. That Florida usually is on the national stage and FSU normally is not. And you use attendence smack to counter that argument?

Damn, that is laughable.

BTW, your attendence smack is wrong. Florida has a 12k arena. This year, we are averaging right at 10k every game.

More attendance smack to deride our demonstrably better baseball program. Really?

Good lord.

You are too invested in this argument to be rational.

I am invested in the argument. I am also the only one in the argument using reason.

Based on the post by these nolies, I am going to say their academic ranking is actually much too high. I am beginning to think they are probably more like #2 in Tally. The sun rises in the east, no it doesn't, only Gators believe that.....

If you read all that and concluded one word of it was attendance smack then critical reasoning is apparently not a club in your golf bag.

Another Nole who thinks stars are the be all end all of recruiting. Two words: Ermon Lane.

This is just stupid and ignorant. Silicon Valley gobbles up Gator engineers as fast as they graduate. Delude yourself all you want but UF is absolutely in the same tier of prestige as upper-tier B1G and ACC schools.

How long did it take you to create this world you live in?

How long did it take you to create this world you live in?

Who do you think hires Gator engineers, then? We certainly aren't lacking for opportunities and a large chunk of tech opportunities exist in Silicon Valley. Again, critical thinking, bud.

Not surprised, but the nolies are getting killed in this thread.
