How is Jimbo getting 20 commits in the top 300? 5 are the best player at their position. They went 8-4 this year. So what is he selling that the kids are buying?

So I read that aTm has NIL money in the millions they used to get some of these commits. Wait until The Horns jump in. They've got even more money to throw into the mix.
I think it's going to be the final call for college football.
Both Texas and A&M are loaded. Due to NIL college football is going to get a lot more interesting to see who can compete in this new environment. I expect Southern Cal to join to club as well. UF appears to be upping there game as well but not sure we can compete with the Texas schools. Miami is supposedly about to up their game so we will see how that goes. FSU better figure out something quick or they are going to be left out in the cold forever.

Maybe not the final call but looking at it now I am starting to wonder if we can get a top 5 class ever again (based on the rankings of the top recruits anyway and not just having a large class).

Just from reading what is supposedly happening at A@M and Texas now and what Bama and Georgia are already doing its going to be tough.

Many of the same teams that everyone accused of having the bagmen are the same ones that are now using NIL in some pretty crazy ways to buy recruits supposedly - Bama, OSU, LSU, GA and now A&M and Texas.

If people like that booster that paid so much toward our new facilities don't play the game some with them its going to make it very hard to land the top 150 level recruits with those teams which would mean a 7th or lower ranked class most times with a lot of 4 stars that don't grade out on paper like the upper level 4 stars and 5 stars.

I can't disagree, although I don't think Miami stays in it over the long haul. I think they got short term "splash" money.
Frankly one of FSU's problems is that we had some guys in leadership who didn't get with the changes and adjust expectations that our very successful alumni must pay more if they wanted to continue sitting on the 50 yard line or park two feet from the stadium. Now those guys are screaming like the spoiled tightwads they are. Our new AD and President are working to change the culture. But you're right about the Texas schools.

Yes I think you may be right about Miami. If they don’t do well in the first few years with Cristobal I think the money from Ruiz all of a sudden disappears.

What’s going on with FSU then? Keeping an awful coach due to NOT having money?

It was posted that they had 25 to 30 mill in NIL money for this class alone. They set it up with multi yr deals so if the kids leave they don't get the rest of the money. Smart and forward thinking by them

We will watch with binoculars, it's hilarious to see FSU release NIL stuff as if they have a clue. Either rules will change or we won't win any more nattys in our lifetime. This is why Jimbo left fsu, we weren't willing to put everything into it.

Oh hush up. You're out of touch. We have a new AD who is VERY savvy and who is not one of the good old boys in case you aren't up on the happenings...

FWIW I may be wrong but I don’t think your new AD actually has any prior AD experience.

You're mistaken. He was the AD at Central Michigan...prior to that a Senior Associate AD at OU, and worked at USC as well as being a Director of the Crimson Tide Marketing Group. He also spent time with the University of Cincinnati, the Bengals, and the Dallas Cowboys. He's very experienced.

He was our booster president and former AD, he has shown nothing g that would make me think he understands NIL. We basically lost the FCS player, West, MJJ, and Kelly because of NIL. A and M was ahead of the curve with NIL and we had ZERO plans.

He has AD experience and has gotten more boosters involved but seems to be lacking in the understanding g that we can purchase recruits. We got our pants pulled down by Jackson State with NIL

fsu939913,

If that dollar total is anywhere near accurate; it staggers the imagination.

Thank goodness UF's McKethan Baseball Park ($65 MM) is paid for & finished, the Heavener Football Complex ($85 MM) is paid for & just about finished, & the $7 million soccer/lacrosse clubhouse can be put on hold if necessary - LOL !

If we had to create / pay for those as well as paying for NIL anywhere near what the big 3 are spending; we would be Screwed !

And neither do a LOT of other schools.

We got our pants pulled down by a recruit who went out of his way to deliberately lie and mislead the coaches, when he knew he was not being upfront.

And neither do a LOT of other schools.

If we are winners, shouldn't we be leading in that department? Not just like "a lot of other schools". Sorry but our admin failed MISERABLY with NIL, which costed us a bunch of recruits. That is common knowledge and can't be disputed

If we offered him money like they did he would be a Nole. Everybody on earth knows that.

I'm disputing it. Of course that's what you'd say since you're a fake Nole. THAT is what cannot be disputed.
There are plenty of newbies who are learning about this NIL issue. It won't just hit us. It changes all of college sports.

Not necessarily. I can tell you're not aware of all the details. He was a #1 recruit. Isn't it fascinating why other schools like Bama or Georgia didn't just pay him if all it took was money?

I have said this numerous times in these threads, USC is about to become a major force in CFB
USC has 7 national titles. They are a major force in CFB. They've been down a bit lately, but they would have been back eventually, NIL or no NIL.

Correct.

but Lincoln Reilly, NIL, Oregon headed downward and its the perfect storm for them to come back quickly. My guess is in 2-3 years they will be in the CFP almost yearly

You are now downgraded to silvermom instead of Goldmom, if you keep it up, bronzemom is in your future.

I'm well aware of the details, the NIL deal that barstool could pay was higher. Dude is getting 2 mill and a TV show

That’s a lot of “flat footedness”. So why didn’t Bama or Jawja just set that up? #1 recruit remember!

UGA was willing to pony up with a NIL deal just not to the extent that Hunter got from Barstool. I believe Barstool has some connections with Deion as well.
