NonGator Terrible tragedy in New Orleans

I don't have to guess. I was raised by immigrants on the side of a mountain next to a coal pit in West Virginia. Still managed to get a national merit scholarship to UF.

No one is going to hand you anything in life, you have to take it.

I guess. Sounds good, but I doubt what you just said is the truth.

Even if it is true, how many were in your school? Where was the school located? What was thecname of your school? Where are your parents from? What was their job when the got here? What was their job in their former country? What was their education level?

Good for you homie. We're done here

Why, homie? I said if it is true and asked that you provide a little background.

I apologize, if it is. It just sounded.... convenient. By that I mean it is easy to say what you said, make it sound like you just pulled yourself up by the bootstraps in what you described as one of the poorest areas in the US with the worst school system. I'm just curious, what background you and your parents have.

Especially since your attitude is basically "fuk them kids".

Funny how the media all of a sudden wants to listen to Sarah Adams now when she’s been warning us about this for a couple years now. But we’re the conspiracy theorists…

There’s a growing theory in the community that Berg’s not dead… nobody and I mean nobody believes he did this to injure anyone. The dude is highly trained and capable and if he wanted, could have produced a capable device to take down that building if that was the goal. Also, how do you change your signal number after you’re supposedly dead? Things aren’t adding up…

I'm sure you won't like my answer. The simple answer is to follow God's Word. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He's unchanging, which means he IS the very definition of Conservative. That's incongruous with being a "Progressive" in any way, shape and form. Morals are not fluid or ever changing.

People get Leviticus wrong. There's Moral Law, Civil Law and Ceremonial Law. The latter doesn't apply because there is no true Temple and the sacrifice of Christ fulfilled that already. Moral Law is unchanging. Civil Law is what changes. For example, we don't practice Sharia Law in the US and we'd almost certainly violate that if we were picked up and moved to many Middle Eastern countries. That doesn't make Civil Law consistent with God's Word but it should add some context.

I'm anti-woke, anti-abortion and for traditional marriage. Men should be men and women should be women and you shouldn't try and fool anyone otherwise. All things God is for. That alone should tell you where to vote. To do otherwise is to be in direct opposition to God's Word. You can't say you're a Christian and then vote for things that God abhors. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom. If you have no wisdom and discernment, you should be greatly concerned, because that speaks to your true spiritual condition. If you continue to live in habitual sin, you're not right with God. Refer to Galatians 5 and 1 Corinthians 6 for more specifics on what those sins unto death are.

Now all Government is corrupt and that includes both sides to varying degrees. Try to pick the one that most closely aligns with God. The "leftist" have embraced far too much "Marxist" philosophy and I oppose all of that. The First and Second Amendment are all consistent with God's laws, precepts and principles. You can dislike a party's leader but be for what they are trying to do, for example, because every human leader will be badly flawed. God has used pagan leaders to accomplish his objectives over time as well.

As for the other faiths, Muslims don't believe in the same God and Jews don't recognize our Savior so I won't say much. If you're Jewish by faith, you should follow the one that isn't in opposition to Israel IMO so that should be common sense. I happen to be Jewish by blood and raised Catholic so I've seen numerous sides. Now I'm a straight Bible-Believing follower (Solo Scriptura) and don't concern myself much with "Traditions of Men" so my perspective is changed in all of this. You love what God loves and hate what he hates. That's the path I try to follow, albeit imperfectly.
This is seriously awesome! Amen, Folks can't worship God and Mammon .

Yep. More to the story here. This guy was EXTREMELY capable.

Aight.

I grew up in Barboursville WV. My father and mother fled Muslim violence in India. My old man was an civil engineer with the railroad for 40 years. Momma started out a homemaker and ended up the in HR at BCBS of Florida. We moved here when the coal ran out and the railroad merged chessie systems and seaboard and moved us all to Jax when I was 11. I got the highest score in the state on the psat which got me that scholarship. Got into UF got bored and dropped out and joined the Marines. Went into law enforcement when I got out and then local 199 Boilermakers.

Affirmative action don't apply to Asians we're expected to put up with racism and be successful.

Say something.

Say something? Why you said it all.

I'm sorry your folks had to leave where they were born...but they were successful here especially considering your father's education level.

So basically, you had advantages, but don't see it as such. 2 parent household, Parents were professionals, Civil Engineer and HR, formative years in Jville, support in the home. So your "bootstraps" were a little bit more reinforced than others.

But yeah, **** those folks born into abject poverty, in underperforming schools and school districts etc. Yeah some make it out, the few exceptions, yet many simply have no chance from birth.

Your opinion is that AA doesn't apply to Asians, well you're definitely wrong there. There is a reason you were able to attend UF, join the Marines, work in law enforcement l, and get into the local 199, or even that your parents were allowed to work in the professions that they do, even inspite of the individual episodes of racism you experienced. AA is the amalgamation of several equal rights/civil rights issues, it isn't just about the hiring "quotas" most are afraid of.

Congratulations on making it.

But fuk them kids right? You made it.

Keep on digging. Apparently you don't know Jack about AA.

Riddle me this, who brought the lawsuit that resulted in as being overturned by Scotus.

Naaaah. Obviously you don't.

And guess whose admissions dropped at some of those schools. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 not the flex you think it is.

You would've been better off saying you grew up blessed and had support that the folks people are talking about and their situations, experiences and economic circumstances are far different from yours.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

That's why you refuse or cant answer my initial post. You tried to imply you grew up poor without advantages. Far from it ..... homie.

You were blessed. 2 parents in the home, both educated. Brought up with $$$, not worrying if the power or water would get turned off. Food on the table. Moms probably had breakfast ready and packed your lunch. Parents available to help you with homework, encouraged you or even told you to do school work. I mean that is awesome.

Probably attended school at a school that had books, teachers that were teachers and not de facto baby sitters because of disciplinary issues of other kids. Resources galor because of the property tax-base you had. Cmon man be honest you went to Bolles.

Man, its fine. I m not mad at you, not that it matters. But nowcI know why you have the attitude and opinion you do.

What did kendrick say, " They not like us"...

Welcome to 2024. Jacksonville has been fully desegregated since 1970. Forced bussing was the start. That's 54 years ago. Lordsock isn't even that old. You are blaming schools for bad actors and horrible parenting based on schools attended? 😂 Tell us again, who is to blame for that? It must suck reflecting on your cultural issues. 😂 Wow!

No need to run from those advantages. I can see why you are runnig from that reality. You can no longer just sit here and act like you just went and "took" it. You had advantages. You telling me a civil engineer and an HR with BCBS didn’t have $$$.

But fuk them kids, screw em. Right?

Yeah they handed me an eagle globe and anchor and a badge and an gave me an apprenticeship in the world most prestigious welding field out of trade school.

Seriously what do you think a civil engineer made in West Virginia on the 70s. I didn't say my momma ran the I said she worked there.

Satan spare from white liberals.

Stella just dropped a runny turd that's smarter than you.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Rewind there a little bit before you try to play that military card. Merit scholarship at UF, where you quit. Rewibd a little bit more, 2 parent home. Food on the table. Electricity, lights. At least one car in the home, if not two. Quit crying poor.

You don’t give a fuk about others that Zak spoke of because your story is not like theirs because you had advantages they didn't. I get it. Its easy to pull yourself up by the bootstraps when you 1. Have boitstraps and 2 thise bootstraps are reinforced.

Your parents left India because of muslim violence, sounds as if it was during the "partition" and that's a shame, but they still had a step-up on the ladder compared to most black folks in the US.

Funny, is it doesn't surprise me you have the attitude you do. Let me guess, any favorable boost you got in hiring, say veteran's preference either based on hiring policy or perception, why is that fair? Simply because folks like you and I served our country, you as a welder and I as in Airborne Artillery and the medical field, we shpuld get prefere? Bith of us know unqualified dipshits that served and are unqualified to hold certain jobs, but they get them.

Same as other AA programs.

Being woke, is recognizing social and political issues affecting those folks in marginalized communities/groups. I mean isn't that what Jesus was about? I mean his whole essence, was love and understanding.
You're completely wrong. You liberals don't understand how to interpret Scripture and commonly take things out of context. Jesus specifically said that if you love me, you'll obey me. Jesus came to divide, not bring peace and love and harmony (Luke 12:51). He mentions that the two most important Commandments are to Love God with all of your strength and to Love One another as you love yourself. He wasn't preaching tolerance of sin or disobedience to his Word. Jesus preached "obedience" to God and to "follow" him, which means that we try to live as sinless a life as we can, although we know it's not possible for us to not sin.

The truth pierces and always divides. Those "Jesus, He Gets Us" commercials are border line blasphemous because Jesus would never be washing the feet of a Transgendered person. He would have rebuked them first or perhaps cast out the demonic transgender spirit inhabiting the person. You have to believe on him and repent. He cannot nor will not tolerate sin and willful defiance to his Word.

It's funny how the more progressive "so called" Christians totally don't get that God is not just the God of love but is also the God of justice and obedience and holiness and also wrath for those who don't repent. All the character traits of God in the Old Testament are still there because the Old Testament God and the New Testament God are the same (Different Covenant, Same God). Those who think God is okay with them just willfully living in sin because they say they believe in him are playing with fire (literally). The Church is being seriously misled if they believe this and so are you.

As for Islam. CG I am sorry, but you are very much uninformed about what Islam is. Islam as is Judaism and Christianity is based on the God of Abraham. Those that follow islam, and this is the most basic explanation, believe in the prophets of the Old and New Testament abd honor them all. Muslims believe in each of the covenants, believe in the flood, believe and honor Mary and Joseph, believe in the virgin birth, the believe Jesus rose directlybinto heaven, but was not the one crucified, so that when the time is right, he will return and fight the false messiah. He is considered the messiah in islam. This is a very cursory explanation why what you said is wrong.
You are in huge error with regards to Islam. I had a good friend years ago who was of that faith and while I think they believe they worship the same god, they do not. I've spent probably hundreds of hours in research and read several books and I can promise you, they do not follow the same God. They follow Allah (Moon God), also known as Ba'al. I would be happy to share information with you since you don't seem to have adequate understanding in this area.

I could get into the Syrian pagan gods where the original titles came from before Muhammad lived but it would probably bore everyone here. Their god, Allah, is not a Triune God nor did he beget anyone, which means he's not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If they don't believe he was crucified then they don't believe in the same God we do. They actually think he'll come back to earth and change his story, which is utterly ridiculous. The Old Testament has hundreds of prophecies and references to Jesus so how could they worship the same God? They couldn't. Look at Proverbs Chapter 30, verse 4, where the son is specifically mentioned.

You might benefit from a book I've read by Joel Richardson called the Islamic Anti Christ. They are waiting on the Mahdi or the 12th Imam. He is their version of the Messiah but he matches identically with what the Scriptures identify as the Anti Christ. Very eye opening book if you're not familiar with the material.

The problem with that being poor stuff is the system looks at race instead of that mostly. An advantaged kid in upbringing will get admitted solely due to race many times. They have shown in college admissions Asians get discriminated against. I think that is a big issue in the US because most Asians in the US come from a higher IQ background than most from that country (this especially applies to Indians in the US but to far east Asians also). We all know Asians work much harder on studies than your typical westerner also. I have heard people claim the typical Indian background person in Canada is much lower IQ than the ones in America because of how Canada does their immigration. If you wanted a better system it would just look at the family situation and not race to try to assist some people. The lefties would never go for well to do African American kids not being able to use that to their advantage though.
