NonGator Terrible tragedy in New Orleans

The truck used in the attack was either driven across our border unchallenged or was parked just on our side at Eagle Pass two days ago. We all know about the open borders, importing violent gangs and terrorists who have melted into our population. As outgoing FBI director Christopher Wray testified before Congress in 2024, our country never before has been so vulnerable.

No question that tens of thousands of out-of-town Georgia and Notre Dame fans have packed into New Orleans hotels and AirBnBs. At 3:15 a.m. on Bourbon Street you’ll find hordes of inebriated revelers, mostly younger adults, likely some of those fans among the victims..

Football is so important to our national consciousness. It’s no coincidence to me that such an assault took place in one of our most distinctive, oldest cities hosting what will be the most watched college game to date of our post-season, and on this particular day. Not random, but well planned.

It’s “great to hate” Georgia as a rival on a playing field or in an arena, and a lot of you may look askance at the Fighting Irish as I do. But such an assault on our country unites us as one nation.

We need to have compassionate hearts toward these victims, their families and companions as we think, pray and respond with help, if needed.

Well stated!

Interesting tidbit about the truck. What is the source of that info? And not surprising it isn’t a disgruntled Mexican wanting to immigrate that drove into the crowd. Regardless, supporter or not of Biden, the handling of border security for the last few years has been borderline treasonous.

Well the truck had a Texas tag on it, so regardless of where the truck passed through from a border perspective it’s a registered vehicle in Texas and was driven by a US Citizen. Seems that Fox News again puts out fake intel with no real valid sources. Imagine that

FOX News had a late-breaking update about the truck. It apparently crossed the border in November driven by someone other than the New Orleans driver, acquired Texas plates, and allegedly had multiple drjvers prior to this morning’s assault on the innocents.

To do what this ISIS devotee (not a disgruntled Mexican) accomplished required planning, casing out New Orleans, the French Quarter in particular, to determine where and when the largest number of people would be accessible.

The meaningless wooden barriers didn’t even cross Bourbon Street, so the assailant was able to steer the truck around them into the crowd. He was prepared with an IED on board and knew to open fire from his window on the two cops as he drove.

None of us should have been caught by surprise. My wife has been forecasting such attacks a long time in light of malfeasance toward our national security. I awoke this morning immediately opening my go-to news sute to see where an overnight attack took place.

And I agree about the willful posture.

Wrong. Fox cited federal sources - - the FBI. I’ve met illegals here who’ve easily acquired drivers’ licenses. For years, too, I saw illegals dropped off outside my office windows. None spoke English and each carried a hard-built suitcase. Two trucks would shortly arrive. The driver of a late model Ford would get out, trade the key for the suitcase and climb into the passenger side of the other pick-up and drive off. The new arrival meantime would climb behind the wheel of the white Ford and drive away. This happened repeatedly.

Yet, it’s being reported as what I wrote BY the FBI. Like literally from an FBI representative on live TV. I’ll take the agents live intel over anything regurgitated from Fox. The same network that paid millions for consistently providing fake intel to the public and falsely tarnishing peoples names. I just moved back from Texas, it’s full of nutjobs.

You trust the FBI? Interesting

Lol, the FBI is as corrupt as they come but you go right ahead and believe it.

I’m not a “MAGA” guy, by the way. Fox’s reporter only cited source that the truck crossed the border in November driven by someone other than the New Orleans driver. I never identified the driver’s birth country, name or background. I subscribe to the WSJ, NYT, a Gannett online newspaper, a statewide North Carolina printed paper, and routinely watch a variety of news stations ranging from conservative to liberal. I’m an old UF journalism product who predates activist journalism and from a very old newspaper lineage. Think whatever you want.

Stop. Please.

The truck used in the attack that killed at least 10 people in New Orleans on New Year’s Day was listed on the car rental site Turo, the vehicle’s owner told CNN in a text message.

Two federal law enforcement officials also told CNN the truck did not belong to the suspect. One of the sources added it was rented on a site that owners use to rent out their own cars.

The vehicle, a white Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck, is registered to a Houston man who has worked for the car dealership where the vehicle was sold, according to public records based on the vehicle’s license plate. The man told CNN the vehicle was listed on Turo, a website that allows owners to rent out their vehicles to other people.

The driver of the truck was an American citizen from Houston.

Unfortunately we’ll probably see more of this as we’ve let unverified folks into the country with no knowledge of who they are, where their from and where they are in the country.

There are countless young men from many adversary countries running around with potential ill intent towards Americans and our country

It’s astonishing to me that on 9-11 we lost 2-3 thousand people and 90 percent of America was ready for war and out for blood. Now today our enemies are far more savvy on attacking the country, fentanyl has killed over 100K Americans as China and Mexico conspire to traffic it into the country yet unlike 9-11 we are incredibly passive about this.

Now we have people insistent on harming us within our borders, decades of pitiful leadership has put us in the mess, what ever happened to accountability? Our leaders take a oath to protect us against all enemies foreign and domestic, they have failed us.

They’ve also been reckless with our money and now we’re 36T in debt. We need far more business savvy people in leadership positions IMHO

Exactly, and the narrative pushed by the Intelligence Agencies is rarely, if ever, the truth.

“Fear mongering”….its disturbing that this could happen regardless of where this individual is from. I think “fear mongering” was a poor categorization.

Oh, never fear guys….US citizen. All good here.
right up there with the gang only took over a few apartment buildings ...

Well, if it only a few, then that's just peachy ... right?
