I don't think you can quantify that, and I can't find a study that cites GM trucks are more reliable than RAM or Toyota. I don't know much about RAM but I certainly didn't know how popular they are before looking it up.

But Toyota isn't behind, they're serving a different market segment. If you want a reliable truck that can haul stuff and don't need to pull heavy loads they're a great choice. Towing capacity starts with frame strength, you really think the Japs can't make a stronger frame truck?

Like I said, landscapers, repair and remodelers, "chuck in a truck" contractors are all fine using Tundras as work trucks. If you need to haul equipment or pull horses, they don't have the towing capacity.

And if you want to talk popularity with the trades Ford takes that mantle easily.

Talking cars and trucks are SO subjective. Where we are getting of track here is because of the comments that they are junk. That is not true. The 100% indisputable truth to that is that the people who require the most from a truck buy Fords and GM's. But if you use a vehicle for point A to point B...and like to have a bed on it..you have different requirements. Believe it or not I am not a brand cheerleader, even though I prefer GM's. I sell ALL trucks. But I have many perspectives that most will never have, because of 40 years of doing what I do. One is everyone's perception is their reality. But that does not make that reality necessarily the truth.

And I've been a professional mechanic at one point in my career, and have owned every brand except Dodge/RAM (although my dad has).

I'm telling you, from working on cars, Fords use better, more robust parts. But they suck to turn wrenches on. It's almost like they hire european engineers (the shop I worked at was largely an import shop, but it was in Norman OK so we saw work trucks and domestic cars too).

My personal experience with Chevy is they just aren't as well made, I've personally had two transmission fail prematurely and had to put a salvage yard transfer case in another. Now, I have only owned the 1500 size (Suburbans), so maybe their heavy duty lines are different, but my days owning a Chevy are over. And it's undeniable that Fords sell better to hardcore towers. There's a probably a reason for that.

For me, the reliability of Toyota is a well earned reputation, which is partly why their resale value is so high (although all used trucks are expensive). The second gen Tundras have an incredible reputation with a few bugaboos (valley pan coolant leaks, starters being a bitch to get to, the early gen evap getting clogged and throwing a CEL, etc), but the bottom line is they stay on the road. They're engineered and built for longevity.

I’ve had 3 Chevy trucks (suburbans) and 2 of them the trans started slipping and shifting weird at about 130-150k (and I maintained them). Caused me to sell the truck vs see it totaled. Had a torque converter go out and all sorts of A/C issues on all of them. And I’ve owned Ranger Rovers, BMW’s and Volkswagens…so I know a thing or two about unreliable cars.

But whatever you do DON’T change that 200k mile old trans fluid. The material in that fluid is what’s making your valve bodies actually function.

I've also done this trip several times. Once I was in with a group of Honda sports cars and I had no problem staying with them. My GMC Sierra Vortex 6000 with 20" Goodyear Eagles is also the best handling truck I've ever owned and this run through the Smokies was great.

I never said GM’s are junk and if I did I shouldn’t have. Might be my personal experience which is anecdotal. But I own a RR and won’t buy another Chevy. I can’t think of a stronger statement on personal experience than that.

But in a ranking of quality and reliability I definitely don’t think they win out.

The rate that the US charges on Chinese goods will increase from 19% to 30%. Almost a 60% increase.

The US - China trade imbalance in 2024 was roughly $300 Billion in China's favor.

This new deal is great for your country, bad for your politics. If you have your priorities straight, you are thanking President Trump for this.

You're right, that's for the next 90 days. I suspect final rates will be close, may tighten a bit, with the Chinese offering more concessions. Lefty talking point will be nothing changed.

And, China is supposedly removing barriers that kept certain US items from being imported. We will see if China comes thru, but I am sure if they don't, Trump will smack the higher tariffs back in place.

That's not what this is. You were already paying a 19% 'tax' under Biden.

China's economy is built on exports. Roughly 75% of its trade is exports, that means Chinese companies need the US to keep buying from them in order to sustain their solvency and the solvency of the economy.

That means the United States has leverage over China in regards to trade. Trump is using that leverage to get a better trade deal for America and save us money.

Chinese companies will have to pay more to export here. And they will have to eat it. Some companies will move operations here to avoid the tariffs, another win for the American worker.

If the United States was exporting to China far more than China was exporting to us, I would agree with the left that we want no part of a trade war with China.

Since the opposite is reality, we absolutely need to negotiate better trade terms with a nation that we have leverage over.

Again, it's good for your country and bad for your politics. Priorities determine how you feel about it.

Biden would. The left and RINOs would. This is why China kept buying US politicians to get Congress to pass trade deals that helped China, even though the US had all the leverage.

This is the key aspect of his Presidency that the Left cannot grasp, and one of the reasons he does what's right for us and not himself.

This reality is IMPOSSIBLE for them to comprehend. They flatly REFUSE to. Just like EVERY ONE of them will not admit that they KNEW FJB was brain dead. We ALL knew it 4-5 years ago. They LIE and say they had no clue. Hard to take them at their word until they admit this.

Explained another way...

Lets say 75% of your family's grocery bill is spent at Publix, and 25% is spent at WalMart.

If Publix lowers prices by 60% and WalMart raises prices by 60%, will your overall family grocery bill go up or down?
