I don’t post very much but have seen “tampering” thrown around so much lately, I had to get this out.
Definition- NCAA football tampering is when a representative of one school tries to convince a student-athlete from another school to transfer to their school. This includes attempting to persuade a student-athlete to enter the transfer portal.
A representative being the school, faculty, or booster. Essentially someone directly within the school and administration.
Myself as a gator fan can reach out and offer a kid a NIL deal on whatever terms I want as I’m not associated with the school. Regardless, the word tampering is being overused and not in the correct context. Sure I know through the vines and back door that Billy wants a guy and therefor I can go out of my way to contact and propose a lucrative offer for joining the gators. This is almost impossible to prove if done correctly, which is how schools did it pre NIL. The NCAA has no power and can’t enforce anything to anyone not directly related to the NCAA.
