We have the 2nd best record in the entire SEC conference
We just had a win @LSU
We are going to the SECCG with a chance to land a Sugar Bowl bid
We have beat our arch rival Georgia the last 2 years under Coach Mac helping us secure 2 Eastern Division titles
We are getting our younger players valuable playing time preparing them for next season
Much of this was accomplished while we were missing our starting QB
------------------------------------------------------------------

Every post cant be debbie downer stuff and if you look at that above you would swear we couldn't be in the position I think we are in right now. What am I missing above?

Silver lining in every cloud?

In the spirit of this thread;

"Hey, things could be worse. Butch Jones or Kirby Smart could be our coach!"

I'd trade Mac for Smart in a second. Smart can recruit, which is half the battle. We know Mac can't recruit and his coaching ability is at best, up for debate.

Tenn's defense has been atrocious the past few games. I actually am a little scared Smart could turn things around with how good their recruiting is going and having a young QB who may develop alright. Jones has shown he doesn't have it at all.

Sec conference, so the Southeastern conference conference?

I think the observation that Smart can recruit better than McElwain is apt. I think Smart has shown he is a terrible coach. The way he lost that game last night was so Muschamp like, it was eerie. All he had to do was pound the ball and run out the clock near the end of the game and his team wins. He called for a pass that was intercepted and his defense gave up a TD. The Vandy game he lost was similar. He needed fourth and inches and essentially called a WR sweep when Chubb was getting 4 yards a carry.

He defended both plays.

He cannot coach.

The SEC is terrible. At the end of the day, we've been badly outclassed by our biggest in-state rival the past two seasons, and FSU has been vulnerable here lately. Until we're back to being competitive, and actually beating FSU, I don't care what our SEC record looks like. The SEC East is a complete dumpster fire, and that Tennessee team we blew a 21-0 lead on has been exposed as a total fraud. Nothing to be proud of today, nothing.

Every season we lose, and lose badly to the Noles, the more recruits we lose to them, and the only way we're going to get back to national prominence is by locking down the big time in state talent.

I think what you are missing is that the SEC, minus Bama, is pretty much hot trash. Makes your winning the east fools gold.
As is your win against us.

Enjoy it knowing FSU, even with four or five consecutive top five recruiting classes, continues to lose two or three ACC games most years.

That might sound like sour grapes coming from a Florida fan, and perhaps in some respects it is. But the only thing FSU fans have right now is a slightly better football program than Florida. FSU certainly does not have a top football program at all. I fully realize that neither does Florida. The difference is that your coach can at least recruit top talent. Just can't seem to coach 'em up very well.

Tennessee deserves their shit defense, Butch fired a DC who improved them every year. Butch is a trainwreck

But their coach outcoached the hell out of ours, whats that say???

Do you think he called those plays himself being a former DC. He should have overruled the OC however.

Can't escape that fact.

Well, maybe the better way to say it is that Jimbo, with vastly superior talent on offense than Florida, and facing a depleted Florida defense, can out talent Mac.

Who adjusted better at halftime. Jimbo outcoached us and continually out recruits us. That isn't changing.

Just the FACTS ma-am...

UF 45 - 10 UK --- FL SLAUGHTERS UK - 35
UK 41 - 38 UL --- UK beats UL
UL 63 - 20 FSU - UL SLAUGHTERS FSU -43
FSU 31 - 13 UF - FSU beats UF
And around and around we go.... o_O

So yep, I can see exactly what you mean alright....
========

UF #25 in one preseason poll, not ranked in the rest. 8-3, 6-2 SECe-C
ND #10 in the preseason polls, not ranked and a dismal 4-8 on the season.
There are some real fools in there somewhere alright....

VU 45 - 34 Tn
Tn 45 - 24 VaTech ACCc-C
Tn 38 - 28 UF SECe-C
UF 13 - 6 VU

UGa 33 - 24 NC ACC
UGa 13 - 7 AU SECw
UGa 10 - 24 UF SECe-C

Bogus Claim - The SECw is way stronger than the SECe.
SECw has 5 bowl eligible 6+ win teams.
SECe has 6 bowl eligible 6+ win teams.
The SEC has 11 of their 14 teams as bowl eligible.
At 5-7 Ms & MsSt missed a bowl by 1 win, 4-8 Miz by 2 wins.
While Bama is obviously stronger than any other team in the nation, for now.

SECe Vs SECw
UF 16 - 10 LSU
Miz 28 - 24 Ark
VU 38 - 17 Ole Miss
UGa 13 - 7 AU

Tn 38 - 28 UF --- Tn beats FL
UF 16 - 10 LSU -- FL beats LSU
LSU 54 - 39 aTm - LSU beats aTm
aTm 45 - 38 Tn -- aTm beats Tn
And around and around we go....

What any facts mean, really depends on your own individual bias...

The problem is offense....can not be one dimensional.

If they don't respect the run, they pin their ears back on passing downs and you gotta have a QB talented enough to hit a guy in 2 seconds.

It is more than talent IMHO...if you can't score an offensive TD in 10 consecutive quarters against your in state rival, you need to look at your offensive schemes.

Immobile quarterbacks need more protection in the backfield (especially with youngsters on the O line), getting the running game going will improve the passing game.

Talent is important...but dang...the X's and O's need a lot of rethinking.

Who adjusted better at halftime. Jimbo outcoached us and continually out recruits us. That isn't changing.

And that is scary, that means we don't have a coach worthy of a major program if he gets out coached by Jimbo. I can understand getting out recruited, but not out coached,

Agreed. I hate losing but if it was a close game, I would have been ok. But they outclassed us. We were not on the same level as them. We are not even competitive against good teams. The only real team we have beat was Ole Miss last year. That was literally the best game of this coaching staffs tenure.

I'm still holding out that Chip Kelly becomes available and we can snatch him up after next season.

Thats the kind of coach it will take to flip this at this point. Someone dynamic and exciting with real accomplishments on their resume. We are where Michigan was with Brady Hoke minus good recruiting. Second failed coach and a near decade of irrelevance. It takes a massive hire to undo this damage in a timely manner. And if we don't see our recruiting jump massively by Feb we may be handing our next coach the least talented roster since pre-SOS.

Smart lost to GT. That is not good.

Dje.............

OK, your coach Jim comes here from the Mountain Conference where he coached Colorado State. (Talk about being far removed from the State of Florida!)

So, right off the bat he's at a disadvantage in recruiting.

But then he wins the SEC East 2 years in a row! Now anyone would agree that's quite an achievement.

And then he goes against a coach named Jimbo that has been in place for years and is 9 and 1 against the SEC, beat the SEC's best to win the National Championship and produced a perfect 14-0 and 8-0 season. In that situation just who do you think is going to have the coaching advantage?

Your coach has produced 2 miracle seasons in his first 2 years and you are ready to throw him under the bus. Pause for thought.............just imagine if FSU would have canned Bobby Bowden after his first 2 years in the job. o_O

Sometimes you have to be thankful for what you've got. ;)

I know, right? Dabo, Paul Johnson, Petrino, Herman and Fedora all have demonstrated they can out coach Jimbo. Hell, even Muschamp did it once.

Does not bode well.

Cow-Chip-Kelly is a liar and a FLAMING A-Hole imo.
I'd turn in my Alumni card if they ever brought that slug on campus, much less hired him as the HC.

Total BS from the chit-slinging master of bombastic hyperbole.
You need to go buy a dog and name it Clue, so's you'll finally have one... o_O

Georgia's coaching was bad, they fired their HC, and it got worse.

I remember when SOS mocked these bowls, now we laud a coach for getting us a fascinating matchup with Iowa. The free fall continues.

Well Mac said he heard this was the Bowl most teams were looking foward to or something like that.
