Step on up and admit it. Who all on here said Chad Morris

We can credit Morris for helping turn it around but why is it hard for crediting Dabo with building a foundation and finally finishing up the house?

how would your argument apply to Mac? Shouldn't he get credit for back to back SECEast titles? Did he create your QB problems?

Is it impossible to believe that Dabo may have simply learned something over the years, perhaps from his coordinators, and improved accordingly? Any good teacher/coach/manager learns as much from his students/players/employers as they do from him.

A lot of these successful coordinators go off to other programs and don't amount to anything. That tells me that HC coaching skills and OC/DC skills are quite different.

Mac has done nothing to cure our offensive woes so far except get a little depth at O line. If he doesn't have a QB ready to play decent next season that is 100% on him whether due to recruiting problems or development problems.

Mac won the SECe year one with a QB that Chump recruited (Grier) and both years with a load of NFL defenders left to him. Year 3 is all on him. We still seem to be short a QB and lack depth in a lot of areas. I think Mac vastly underestimated how many piec s Saban has in place that allowed him to be successful at Bama with an LDR like game manager. Mac is clearly not Saban and to be successful imo has to abandon everything he thinks he knows. I am not seeing that with the retention of Nuss.

Of course he could have learned, who is arguing otherwise? But it wasn't like he was a new HC before Morris came along. He was on Bowden's staff and had already had three years as a HC before Morris showed up. What...he decided not to learn in those three seasons? A transcendent QB and a great staff hides a lot of weaknesses. He's done well the past 4 or so seasons but conditions were in place that would have allowed damn near any above average coach to do well. I wanna see if he can maintain or not when those conditions change. That's what make the elite coaches elite. Players and coaches come and go and they keep winning.

I don't know who's calling Dabo "elite."

One thing I've learned over the past few years is that even "good, but not elite" coaches are uncommon, and not to be taken for granted when you've got one.

I'm really not implying any argument of Dabo to Mac. I'm mainly pointing out that some of us can most statements multiple times but it doesn't always hold validation. Such as Morris was the main reason for Dabo's success he had at that point. Now it's changed to his DC and Watson are responsible for Dabo's success. Still, many were wrong one way or the other...No matter how many times they tried to stress a point.

Topics on message boards are repeated several times and become cliche despite not always being 100% correct.

But the jury is still out on Mac on multiple subjects. Some think you should win a Natty title in two/three years because Stoops, Fisher, Meyer, and Saban did so...Even Chizik and Coker did it quick but we see how that turned out. Occasionally it takes time for some coaches and programs to put the pieces. Sometimes it happens quickly.

We are going into year three. Any QB issues under Mc should be fixed by this season. I don't hold a crystal ball so I have no idea how it will turn out.

He gets credit for the SEC E and he gets blamed for not signing and developing a competent QB. It's not complicated.

I will say I agree with the retention of Nuss was not smart going forward with any momentum we had going for us. The big losses to FSU and Bama were bad but the wins vs LSU and Iowa plus winning the division were positive. We need a makeover on offensive philosophy

we need a QB, and we have to play something new or you know where it's headed fast.

I am starting to think we could actually lose 5 games despite no true tough road games in 2017 if Mac hasn't either developed Franks or Trask to a decent level by the beginning of the season. Our defense wont keep those 3 road games against the lower SEC East teams as mostly sure wins this upcoming season without the offense pulling their load some.

I don't think the argument has changed. The argument is that Morris got the program turned around and rolling which led to them signing a transcendent QB and now with the help of Venables they've been able to maintain. And as we all know an elite QB covers up a lot of weaknesses, Dabo still had a ton of idiotic coaching decisions in that game which kinda shows he's still not that good a gameday coach.

That said you have some valid points. Only thing I'll disagree with is that I don't really take anything from the fact that it took Dabo a while to get going. First they had no recent history and is in a state that doesn't have a lot of D-1 prospects. That isn't us. We shouldn't have to wait 7-8 years for a title just because it took Dabo that long. For every Dabo that finally won after X number of years there are hundreds of coaches who started out losing and kept losing. A good coach shows themselves early. And note by showing themselves I don't mean winning titles necessarily but you know it when you see it. It took Spurrier a while to win a title too but everybody knew he was elite during that time.

Clemson ended up averaging out at like the 13th ranked classfor every year bama was #1 all that time.

he came into a job without a QB and signed Franks. He's done remarkably well without a serviceable QB. If Franks can learn the playbook you will be in a good place. If you want to get someone elite in this year's class then you should give Mac an extension so that kid knows his coach will be here.

Comparing any team to Bama is not a realistic criterion. By that criterion, every coach except for Dabo should be fired.

LOL why are you so invested in Mac Nole? We know the answer but I want to see if you're gonna admit you're trolling. When rivals defend your coaches...
