With the trend of hiring back former successful coaches being back is the thing this year. If Napier was fired or if he fails next year and gets canned. Which legacy coach would you like brought back to Gainsville? I know Steve is about to turn 80 and Meyer would likely only ever go back to Ohio State..But I doubt anybody would want Zook, Muschamp, McElwain or Mullen back.

Frost is back, Rodriguez is back, Trump is back and most importantly the McRib and 90's Taco Bell aesthetics are back.

Urban Meyer.
I think I would take Steve. Did anyone watch the AAF league game when he was wired for sound throughout the game? He called a shovel pass and the back dropped a wide open pass. Later SOS called it again. “Run the shovel pass again, tell him to catch it this time. “ ROTFL. Who wouldn’t want to play for the guy?

Meyer but I doubt he coaches anytime soon.

The most fun I've ever had as a fan was when we had Spurrier but I'd take Urban now. Steve deserves to relax.

There is an alternate reality in which Steve returned to Florida instead of going to South Carolina after leaving the Redskins and Florida had another incredible run…

sadly…the window on that alternate reality has long since closed…

That being said, sadgator is often perplexed as to why coaches like Napier, Mac, and Mullen don’t use him more as an offensive analyst. Maybe he doesn’t want to do it, but if sadgator was the head coach, he would have an open door to Steve regarding any offensive suggestions or things he might want to try…

You always want the master telling you how it's done. You call it "bossy" but I'm just giving you what you want

Pretty sure a McRib is a better gameday offensive coach than sling blade.

Urban can't stay at one place too long because he stresses over everything and is a control freak. He's retired three times and gotten fired once. His health puts him in the broadcast booth, but his ego will always draw him back to the sideline.

The timing was right but Machen was having Meyer hired no matter what.

Can we just get Steve to sit in the booth on game day and send down plays? It can be Napier's playbook. There are some good plays in there, I'm sure, he just has no idea when to call them.

Maybe he can also give a tutorial on clock management...

Spurrier is too old and proud to grovel for today's entitled athletes that are being pampered and purchased today. He never promised any of them a rose garden, just gave them a shot at greatness. He revolutionalized the forward pass offense in the SEC. I thank Urban for two natties but he was simply a mercenary that led his troops until he didn't. That's all I got here.

I've repeated this over and over that I'll take Urban back and his 187-32 record. I'd be happy if he brought one or two titles in Gainesville again if he did return.
He even made Saban his b1tch again back in 2014 with a 3rd string QB.

Saban did help lead to his stress and health issues though. I will give Meyer credit for somehow knowing his #1 ranked 2010 recruiting class here was smoke and mirrors though. Him going to OSU after that was perfect timing on his part but not ours.

Which is why I'd put him in the coaches box to call plays. Heck, hire a young OC and let him sit next to the guy and "help" him. He never has to deal with the kids.
