Joshua Braun now listed as "undecided" by Rivals

Georgia has now experienced the first negative repercussion since the loss of offensive line coach Sam Pittman on Sunday. Suwannee (Live Oak, Fla.) offensive lineman Parker Braun is iffy at best concerning his commitment to UGA despite the fact that Kirby Smart quickly filled the opening with former Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke.

"I have taken a step back from my commitment and am reassessing my recruitment," Braun told 247Sports. "I committed to play under Coach Pittman, since he left my commitment is void."

Smart was scheduled to visit Braun at his home in the Sunshine State on Wednesday but that visit was cancelled.

At 6-foot-6 335 pounds, Braun perfectly fits the mold of what Pittman wanted in an offensive lineman.

Braun is rated as a four-star prospect by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, which combines the rankings of three different recruiting websites. He No. 285 overall prospect and the No. 22 offensive tackle in the nation per those same rankings and he comes in as the No. 49 player in Florida.

The 247Sports in-house rankings like Braun a little more, ranking him as the nation's No. 230 overall prospect and No. 19 offensive tackle. He's the No. 32 player in Florida per those rankings.

Adding insult to injury, Braun is likely to flip to border rival Florida. He has not yet come out and formally de-committed from the program, but it's a likely development at this point.

OT is a real position of need for 2 years from now especially. This kid has all the metrics and looks great. Other sites are saying his a Gator though nothing will probably be official until ESD.

So is it about Pittman or not? If so you’d think he was headed to Arky Matt Luke is certainly better than whoever your OL coach is.

Of course he is better. That is why UGA is winning all these national championships right? I mean it was supposed to be 3 out of 4.

The continued disappointment out of UGA fans is just getting better and better. You keep setting yourself up for more disappointment in the future.

You had the best oline coach, head coach, S&C coach, oline, RBs in the entire country. Now you’ve lost your best in the country oline coach and just replaced him with the bestest oline coach to ever exist in Luke. This is great!!

Save your script for someone else. This is about Braun. If he loved Pittman so much why not follow him? Absent that, what allure does Florida now have over Georgia? You all have talked about how much your run game sucks, so why would he want to sign up for that? The goal for these kids is the NFL. While Luke is not Pittman, I still believe the kid has a better development shot with Luke vs your guy. What's his name? Do you know?

So the goal of all these kids is the NFL?

Funny, then you'd think some of the 16 juniors and RSSO who are eligible for the NFL after this year would be going pro. I mean, why would they put off their goal?

Getting an interesting mix of messages from the fleas. Seems to be based on whatever feeds the topic at hand, consistency be damned.

Well let’s see UF has been recruiting Braun as well. Of course he’s going to go to UF over Arkansas. Yes our run game has been bad this year. It wasn’t bad last year.

Of course I know who our oline coach is. I know who all our coaches are. His name is John Hevesy. Guess what? He was on our staff in 2006 & 2008 so he has a few national title rings. He also helped recruit and develop Mike & Maurkice Pouncey. You may have heard of them?? Maurkice is a 7x Pro Bowler and will likely be a Hall of Famer when his career is done. Mike is a 4x Pro Bowler.

Thanks for playing and taking the bait. Anything else?

Talent and depth isn't UGA's problem but you guys have been so cocky. You'll still be a good team but hilarious all the BS your fan base has talked since last year and while you beat us we have the same record and your losses are worse than the crappy Gators, lmao... you got spanked last week....unless you can argue that UGA is worse than South Carolina we were right there with you and LSU. You might have controlled the game with us but you were never even close with LSU. You're pretty fair but that's what's up.

Addressing the O-line is the #1 priority IMO. And it starts with recruiting better players. Braun is a definite step in the right direction.

We've been winning battles on the recruiting front. It's because we've been winning on the field and players can see the coaching job. Big win here.

Don't worry about us, Cuz/Primo, Mullen is taking care of that.

Yeah I think the lure to Georgia was Pittman and Pittman alone. He admits that's what got him to verbal with Georgia. Georgia without Pittman wasn't nearly as attractive to him. That doesn't necessarily mean he is in love with Pittman and would follow that guy to whatever school in the country he went to coach at.

Coach Hevesy at Florida is one of the best OLine coaches in the business. The miracle turn around he performed on our line going from the worst offensive line the SEC in 2017 to one of the best in 2018 hasn't been matched anywhere else. He managed to get 10 wins from this offense where we replaced 4 starters this year too. Sure the running game sucked as much as Georgia's chances of a national title in my lifetime, but they did an excellent job overall of protecting the QB.

The coaches at UF are doing what needs to be done, recruiting at the lines heavily and year after year. Build depth, get the best guys that pan out and keep getting more. Put UF back where it belongs in dominating the line of scrimmage in each and every game. Talent players will always be there, but the lines MUST be good to succeed. Georgia had a pretty darn good one this year and we didn't get a single sack on mascara-boy in Jax as a result. Change that story and the scoreboards start to change in a hurry.

Braun is just step #48 out of 1,000 that need to take place to get UF back to where it belongs. Luckily for us, we have the coaching staff in place that has proven over 2 years that nobody in The SEC develops players better than we do and prepares them for the next level. Add to that the facilities improvements coming in the next 5-6 years and this program will be just fine.

No his argument is that since Pittman left, Braun should follow him to the ends of the earth. As a relationship with a coach is the ONLY factor in choosing a school.
I know what his argument is and it makes zero sense. So I agree with you there. However, back to my point in that he wasn’t that comfortable to stick around with Kirby.
